I have been making crochet blankies for over 20yrs now, and this is a great method for fixing minor problems. I would add a couple of rows of single crochet to the border to help it to have a uniform look. Also, if you are a beginner, you should be counting your stiches every few rows to check and see if you are adding/losing stitches. After you have been doing it a while, you will notice quickly if you have made an error and won't need to count stiches hardly at all.

Thank you SO MUCH AhSel!! I am a beginner and made a blanket using the Bernat soft bulky yarn. Also I used a double crochet. I have been online and RU-vid for days to learn how to fix the sides. Needless to say it it a mess! It's for my little granddaughter so it is special to me. Not special enough pto unravel it! Ok thought I was making a baby blanket, but now it is about 90" wide!
