How to fix CVT transmission code p1778 or P1777 

Used your walkthrough to replace the stepper motor on my 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander. I appreciate the details you mentioned. I freaked out a bit when you said not to move the actuator, that it needed to stay where it was for replacement. My actuator moved and I could not get it to stay in place, but saw in another video that there is a little hole going through the unit and you can use a small Allen wrench to hold it in place…that little detail saved my bacon. Thanks again for the walkthrough, gave me the confidence to give it a go and save $4,500!!

How many dirty mechanics would have told you that needed a new transmission and charged you for it and only replaced this piece. Appreciate your honest mechanics .

Thanks. Wanted your opinion on this. Replaced a Nissan CVT with a used 50k mile one. Ran great for 7 months. Just had a valve cover and PCV valve replaced. Got the car back and P1778 is throwing intermittently. Had to floor the throttle from a dead stop on one occassion. Could something electrical have been disturbed during the valve cover removal process?

Please help, my Nissan altima 2008 2.5s stocked up in first gear, won't go beyond that, after diagnosed with computer, P1777 code was detected, today I took it to my mechanic, he service the gear, and test drive, it worked, after few seconds, when the car warmed up, it got stocked in first gear again. Now I noticed That ATF fluid was used to top up the gear oil instead of CVT fluid.. Please I need your help, what should I do?

Thanks for the amazing video bro ,Hey man I’d love if you can get back with me ASAP I actually have a few questions i had the p1778 code which cased my car to not accelerate over like 20mph and it’ll like bump a little like I ran over something so I followed all the instructions I changed the step motor even with putting in the allen ranch in pre drilled hole but afterwards when I got done it wouldn’t shift gears it wouldn’t move at all and I removed the valve body up and respected the process and it still wouldn’t shift , do you think the step motor they sent me may just be bad? Or do I need to make sure every bolt is on before removing the Allen ranch ? And how do you find out which bolt goes where I didn’t keep up and number them but I’m shake to get all screwed in idk if the right one is going in but it’s fitting

I have a 2015 Sentra and I'm not sure these are the codes because my mechanic just said I probably need a new transmission but the issue with my car is that it jerks from 2nd->3rd gear and also jerks a bit when putting it into reverse. P1778 and p0868 Nissan Versa 09 1.8 SL, just bought this car and give me 2 codes, trouble accelerating and slipping. Checked the fluid and looks clean and i'm affraid that this is done before because i see fresh silicone underneath this pan but i didnt touch that yet. Any advice? Hola, tengo una Pathfinder 2014 con el código P1778, le acaba de cambiar el aceite NS3 y el filtro de elemento, pero a bajas RPM se siente como pequeños "jalones", tiene 72 Kilometros, cuando saque el aceite solo tenía como 2 cuartos, y antes del cambio los "jalones" eran mas fuertes.

Can I get someone’s opinion? So my Nissan Sentra has the exact same issue, I went ahead and bought the step motor, even bought a new transmission oil filter and gasket, and 4 quarts of CVT fluid. I would have done the work myself, but honestly, my fat ass didn’t wanna have to squeeze under there nor did I want to deal with the mess of draining the pan. Anyway, so the shop I took it too, initially said they can do it, and it should take about an hour or so, for about $70 bucks. Ok great, no problem. 4 hours later, they finally call me to tell me that it was a bit more “involved” than anticipated. And now they want $350 CASH for labor ONLY. Seems like a pretty straight forward job that could have been done with hand tools, but this is a freakin shop with a hydraulic lift and impact drills and such. My gut is telling me that this dude is tryna pocket the money since they wouldn’t even be losing any inventory. I should probably also mention that I only went to this place because they were highly recommended by locals on the NextDoor app, but they all mention the owner being the go-to guy. Unfortunately he’s on vacation and won’t be back for another week. This other guy is tryna hustle me, ain’t he?
