in some cases even the owner doesn't hear the noises. i have a friend with a car with lots of rattles and I even asked if those doesn't bother him.. and guess what, he didn't even notice the noises. conslusion: perception differs and some are more sensible or not
You don't know it, but you are my best friend...!!!! My wife absolutely hates my fixation on eliminating even the tiniest noise in my truck!!! I even ride now fatter tires: 285/70 17 Michelins and Bilsteins with neoprene cushions between the several suspension parts and joints. Greetings from Monterrey, México
Yeah seriously. As an entire noob to this watching, he's sitting there like "You're gonna put a little bit of this over there, and then put some of it in here" and I'm just like "Over where? Where is here? I CAN'T SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING BECAUSE IT'S OFF CAMERA!!" lol
great video! I have a 2019 Honda Accord and the driver door rattles at a specific area, and that drives me nuts. i will remove the panel and follow your advice - thanks
Well I applied this method to my 2001 Tacoma door panels, which were rattling and squeaking. Pretty simple process, just takes a little time. And he wasn't kidding about the clips rattling around in the door panel. They don't rattle after using the window weld!
You sir are a car fanatic, me too Thanks for the tips and I've shared on Facebook for other car guys who really like thier car to be quiet. Huge Thanks
I very much appreciate this video. But are there any issues with being able to remove the door panel in the future after the window weld has been applied to the clips?
Hi, great video and advice. I'm suffering bad with my mk7 fiesta with the rattling. I thought at 1st it was my tweeter's blown so I replaced them but still bad rattling. 😮 So I'm going to give this method a go later on. Just wondering, do I need to put any deading sheet behind the speaker itself? Many thanks.
@@Tanner731 yep. I did do it. In fact I posted about it here two years ago right below. It did make a difference. Still pretty good two years later. Except the damn lock button vibrates when locked. Haven’t messed with it yet though.
@@Tanner731 thanks. I was thinking of doing something like that. And yeah it’s a fun little project to do that has nice results, even though you don’t actually see all the work. Just takes time and patience.
have someone else drive your car around so you can sit closer to the source of the noise. If the noise is recreatable (example rattles when certain songs play at just the right frequency) then try to push down on the trim pieces at different points to see where its coming from.
I’m using solutions you’ve brought up here like 3M Window Weld, dynomat and then additionally, never-dry modeling clay (made video on that) for lightly damaged (cracked) panels. I have an X6 and oh boy! Noisy AF! Not anymore.
I just did the doors on my F80 Bmw M3 using window weld on the clips and Dynamat for isolation. Sooo much better! I am enjoying the car way more without the annoying door rattles. Highly recommend this process!
Quick update: for my Mazda3, I need to cover as much of the door panel with Kilmat because it's hard to tell where the rattle is coming from. I did this the 1st time and will have to go back and do it a 2nd time because I'm sure there are a few areas I missed. Mind you, I covered about 80 to 90% of the door panel. These car companies need to do a better job
I have the rattle from music but it’s the window. If I hold the window up button, it goes away. I roll the window down. Gone. But when window is up, it makes the rattle from the bass in my music.
My 2015 Camry drives me crazy. I just foot the sunroof knock fixed and the glove boxe area rattle fixed but still a lot more coming from the back I need to go through it and fixe it.
Great video, i followed your directions to a T on my Q50 and all rattles are gone even rattles i heard from outside the car are gone. Starting to really appreciate the 15 Bose speaker system again. Thanks.
I have a Fcosport 2015 and the driver door it seriously annoying because it rattles a lot i was told that i will pay a lot to get it fix. Can i please get the details of those stuff that you use for fixing the door rattle? It will be a big help to me😢..
So I’m new to this stuff, I have a Subaru Crosstrek with mid-woofers in the front door panels, I had my local audio shop put in some sound proofing materials in certain spots. It helped in many cases, but now I noticed the actual plastic door frame (like where you rest your arm) rattles pretty bad when the bass hits. Can I apply these kind of materials to the plastic part as well? Instead of the metal door frame?
Great ideas and video!! My older Chevy S10 Blazer has metal rods and linkage for the locks and door handles. Any tips or ideas for reducing rattles and vibration on these?
Hi Brother, I am in Riyadh and own a Honda Accord Coupe 2008. I have lots of rattling sound in my car. Specially from the back. Subwoofer also sounds bad. Please do advise me how can I open its door from top to bottom? for the rear portion, lots of cracking sound comes, can't figure out the reason.
@@noahcrooker4526 I took the door apart and found that it was actually my shitty 2000 cardboard speakers that were rattling. I bought a $100 kit online with all the speakers in the car and paid for someone to replace them. Good luck to you though man!
Awesome video, Thanks - I always judge how well a car is made by just the sound of its driver door when it closes; and that is where I need your help not only on the panel but the door luck and hinges; How can I restore the firmness of the door when it closes. Please view this link (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-34WdpK8Vomg.html), and at 5:20 (he said it's solid BUT) driver door raddle and at 6:17 the back door is solid sound - That is what I am suffering from - I have the same car, and I know if I follow your instructions I will improve the sound but do you think it will fix the closing sound?
I'm always so scared when I have to pull panels off, feels like I'm gonna break something, but as long as I dont pull to hard everything should be fine... Right?.. 😂
I tried all of this on a 2009 Silverado. It's squeaking more than before. The thud when I close the door sounds way more solid then before, but the interior is incredibly noisy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
sounds like the door panel is literally falling apart this is typical GM crap unfortunately. try to remove the panels and seam glue them with some urethane or strong silicone to see if this helps. its a very tedious process solving interior rattles.
@@autofanaticcars thank you for your response I really appreciate it. I finally found out what was the issue with the cab noise. The weather stripping was rubbing on the doors all I had to do was use some silicon lubricant and spray it onto the weather stripping and it worked like a charm
Get some hard wax (crayon, candle, etc) and shave off tiny little pieces with a knife or anything sharp. Look for every clip or screw that have some play in them and heat it up a little with a heat gun and apply a little bit of the wax in between. Don't add too much where it might run when it gets hot, add just enough to give it a thin layer.
2019 VW Tiguan with an intolerable rattling (like a screw is loose inside the door) that, of course, the dealership does not hear and thinks I am crazy for noticing (it can only be heard around 35+ mph)
2 Questions: 1) Does using the window weld on the door side of the door panel clip (shown at 19:54 of your video) make it harder to take off the door if I need to remove it again? I understand using the WW on the panel side of the clip, that isn't meant to come off...but the clip is supposed to pull away from the door and it seems like the WW will cause this to be more difficult. 2) Do you recommend putting some window weld along the top channel that slides over the door near the window slot? I have a Toyota Sienna and the door panel hangs on the edge and I suspect it rattles around on that surface, but much like question #1, I am concerned that using the WW on that junction will cause the door panel to be difficult to remove from the door later.
I just bought a new 2022 Camry and low and behold the daggon driver's side panel is rattling when I have the music on. Your video is exactly what I was looking for. SOOOO helpful and something I am going to try. THANK YOU!
Great video! I'm applying kilmat to all four doors of my 2018 Toyota Corolla iM so I'll do the same with the clips. Do you have any videos on finding and fixing seat rattles?
MAN! I came here because my driver side is driving me insane! And it is too a q50s! So lucky to find this video. Thank you so much, I'm doing this this weekend
Incredible! Thanks a lot, you gave me confidence that this could be done by myself. amazing work! Land rover discovery 4, 2009 harmon kardon, logic 7, struggling bad.
Ok, maybe you can help me fix the noisy panoramic sunroof shade in my 2019 Ford Edge! It is SOOOOO ANNOYYIIINNGGG!!!! I cannot find a youtube video on fixing it. LOL
I'm currently trying to fix a rattling 2014 Ford C-max window regulator. I'm going to try that window weld on the clips that hold the regulator to the actual window.
Thank you for this video. It helped eliminate the noises from my driver side door panel on a 2009 Honda Fit. As a side note, I added Kilmat to the metal door. On the removable panel, I applied most of the techniques that were recommended in this video. I used the same tacky gummy black adhesive that I removed from the plastic sheet to deaden and "glue" in place the red plastic clips on the panel and it worked. All the red clips stayed in place and were no longer loose. Will repeat on the passenger door.
Have o7 ford focus left side in 3 times little bit better tune up checked under..balance tires but when ideals it shakes drive slow.. faster not so much..
Great video, I've been following your channel for quite some time mostly because of the Giulia QV but never expected to find a video that would give me an answer to my issues with rattling. I own an Alfa Romeo Giulietta, and I have rattling noise from the passenger seat door panel. I've noticed that some of the clips are not actually making a good contact so after seeing your video I now have a clear idea of what's the cause. Regards from Athens, Greece
Hoping someone can help me out. I have bass rattle coming from the lower b pillar on both driver and passenger side HOWEVER I only get the rattle when the door is closed. When it is open I hear no rattle. Would this procedure help me out? I have a crosstrek and the door panels appear to be really easy to take off so I don’t expect any issues there. HELP! LOL
I have just the door lock pin rattling on the drivers side. 2017 Chevy Cruze Premier. Do you have any suggestions of what I can put there without disturbing the function? Thanks.
There should be a support group for guys with cars that have rattling / buzzing sound. My Mercedez Benz 2018 GLC300 has something loose in the back door driver side (right behind my ears) and it's driving me crazy. It's making my speaker's buzz. My wife doesn't hear it. Dealer has looked at twice, can't fix it. I either sell the car or try this. Good video
Any advantage to getting the thicker 150mil Noico? It's cheaper than the 80mil on Amazon right now. (Thank you for this explanation - new 2020 Subaru WRX driver side door is buzzing from certain bass frequencies even at low volume. Ordered Tesa Tape for the wires, will get the Noico wetsuit material for the paneling.)
Good gosh man the talking. Geezez. It’s like 15 minutes of nothing but talking. Good approach, but there r better ways rather than permanently securing two pieces together that were meant to be replaceable.
Recently my wife's 2017 sienna passenger's door is rattling when stepping my gas. I hit the door and it goes away and comes back. It's about 30 degrees here so I think cold whether has something to do with that
I was in an accident and they had to remove the drivers side door panel for the repair, it now rattles like crazy. This very helpful, I can’t take it anymore. 😂
Was hoping you’d address a buzzing window controls / door lock cluster. It rattles in its place when the radio is on. If I press on the door handle or the control cluster I can arrest the rubbing. You talk about isolating panels with tapes and caulks...what about lubing? Like a dot of silicone lube flooded into the contact zone?
Hey hiii I am india I own a ford ecosport diesel..i bought it new 2 months n hav almost driven 3000 kms. But i get to hear slight noise from the door panels & from the back boot as well..i asked the service centre they said that its a by default noise.. Could u suggest what could be done
But would it be good to remove the door panels as its a new vehicle & the original fitment .. If i refix the original fitting would it be any problem in that..the panels should not get loose after opening the original fitment
Parking lot people got angry when I complained about damage and made it a habit to slam my driver's door closed with all their might repeatedly. Hence vibration shudder when door is closed since then.
Thank you. I also have a door rattle caused by my dealership last time when they try to fix a window issue. Do you think it’s better for me to bring it back to them and risk something else going wrong. Or just pay out of pocket at a body shop. Do body shops even do things like this?
Gonna follow this video for my door panels … any tips on doing the headliner/roof near sunroof? That rattles real bad on my car and it's driving me nuts O_o
