Thanks for a profanity-free presentation that was clear and concise. I'm glad you suggested calibration first. I did that, and my problem is solved! Great job!

I was able to remove mine, take it apart and clean it up a few days ago. (It had grease buildup on the contacts. Cleaned it and reapplied a thinner coat of the grease) So far, it works like a charm! Thanks for the video! Especially the recalibration instructions.

No problem! Glad it helped! It’s most likley that door motor part is going bad. May still act up again but It’s also a cheap and easy to fix too though.

Ebay motors is a great place to order parts. There's mom and pops vendors on there making their hustle. I found my blend door there for $12 and change.👍

That was a great tutorial. My driver side is stuck on cold. Will try recalibration first since has had some recent electrical issues, but if that doesn't work, will replace that damper control. Want to subscribe, but don't know how to do that. Will Google that I guess. Thanks!

Very nice, especially the re-cal. That didn't work on mine, but I'm hoping the damper motor is right where you show it. Some videos show it on the driver side. We'll see! Thanks!
@bikermike
@bikermike 2 года назад
Thanks, Should be able to test it by moving the driver side selector and listening for the damper with fan on lowest setting and engine off. you will hear dampers moving within the dash. you'll know which is where from there.

My 04 Suburban has a console making it difficult to remove the innermost screw on this motor.Mine were 6mm.
@dansherwood767
@dansherwood767 Год назад
Proper choice of 7mm and 7/32 socket depth separates a 30-min job from an all-weekender. For 2004 GMC Sierra 2" minimum reach is required, but clearance to the transmission hump is about 3" for one of the cover screws and the driver's side actuator mounting screw. Pretty narrow range. Also found what I thought was a screw was actually just an alignment pin next to the power connector. A small mirror or in my case my phone camera was useful to see underneath. Other than that, the project was successful. It's worth buying the proper sockets before starting. Thanks for the info.

Do you have to have deep well sockets to get the kick panel off or will standard ones work?

I have a 2005 gmc sierra 1500hd and when it's up to temp the drivers side is Luke warm and the passenger side it hot. If I turn the truck off and turn the key to just before start and mess with control it will got to hot, once it's started it goes to Luke warm again. Is this similar to what you had happened? I just trying to figure out what to replace. Thanks for the video it really is great content.
@bikermike

Thanks! It’s likely the blender door motor for passenger side. Unfortunately it is much more difficult to get at. There are other videos that get into that side of the dash. If search on RU-vid. I no longer have this this truck just upgraded to a 2015 2500 HD

Ah ya sorry was confused. Try changing the blender motor like I did, they are inexpensive. Then do the recalibration. mine was acting up sporadically as well.

Are you fucking kidding me? THIS is why GM is such crap. They think they’re smart by having all of these digital controls behind the scenes, but in reality, all of this could have been avoided BY JUST MEASURING THE RESISTANCE OF A NORMAL POTENTIOMETER! You know, the way EVERYONE ELSE DOES IT. Why on EARTH does a manual switch have to be “calibrated”? It should have a god damn min-max and float between them… Anyways, thanks for the info, I’m done ranting so now I can go try this…
