Good job in getting kids involved in repairing their own gear. Now he can use that knowledge elsewhere. It's it just about tech or soldering, it's about troubleshooting, patients and responsibility. Nice vid. I'm about to go into my Alesis snare pad, so it's good to see what I'm in for. Thanks for putting this out there. The kid is pretty sharp. He's quite likely a better drummer than I am as well as a better repairman. You've been teaching him well, clearly.

Thanks for sharing. With this information I repaired the electronic drumkit (DD2) that my wife bought for 24 dollars. It's now fully functional. Now my kids and I can practice properly.

Good job guys. Just purchased a used electronic drum set and have a few issues. It is the nature of electronics to be damaged from sudden impacts. I think Alesis can do a better job with the quality/size of their solder joints. Solder with more tin & less lead would make them stronger. Solder joints that are larger and of lower profile to the circuit board would probably hold up better for electronic devices that will receive sudden jolts. I'm sure the US military has protocols for electronic circuit wire connections that have this problem solved. Wonder what they are using.

You should invest in to new head triggers... you don't even need to solder the new triggers as they have a super glue type of M3 tape... you could put something else but I got these triggers off Amazon. They were expensive per trigger but the ones I see u have look like the 6$ bundle set on there.. cheap. My set is the Alesis Nitro Pro, but I've switched all heads out to 10 inch and 12 inch (12's are my floor toms so to speak) since changing the triggers out the mesh heads are super responsive and haven't failed me yet. I do like how that set lights up. Very awesome effect and it's great that your son did some work too and seemed to actually know what he was doing. +1 for the dads out there doing what we can for our little/fast growing kids lol. Thanks for this. On the ride cymbal, it makes both cymbal and "bell" sounds.. but on mine the bell is inconsistent. So I opened it up according to your method here, and found only 1 piezo... how does 1 piezo make 2 different sounds? No loose wires or solder joints.... so... not sure what to look for next? Any ideas?

Do we have any understanding of how the LED light is triggered… & if there is any way to rewire the piezo sensor to directly trigger the LED without the drum being plugged in to the drum-brain… using an adapter to plug these triggers into a regular roland drum-brain does not trigger the LED but works normally as a drum trigger… most drum triggers don’t have such a large circuit board inside

GREAT INFORMATION! I'm having an issue with my snare pad...it triggers single strikes,8th notes but when I do any rolls (6 stroke,8 stroke) or any 16th or 32nd notes they are not being reproduced accurately..IE: 16th note I only get every 2nd strike? Checked all cables, connections etc..Would anyone have any ideas what would cause this? It only affects the snare pad,and when I switch pads out, the same thing happens.. Thanks for any feedback!!!!

thx, just got an electric drum set here in Belize n prob from day one...off n on working within moments of striking it...thot it might be due to I live right on the ocean n the humidity... now I'll look for loose connections :)

I have the same drums but my hihat pedal is faulty, seems like the sensor is super sensitive to movement, you don't even need to press the pedal totally. Any solutions?

Hi friend I have a Alesis dm Lite too And I have the same problem But I'm not really sure. Maybe it can be a problem on module Can I replace my module for another one ? But I can't find a module for Alesis dm Lite .Is it possible that I can buy another one and use it ?

My problem with one if my drum pads is I will get the sound from the rim (i have an Alesis DM10) but the head will not do anything now. What could that be?

I have the alesis strike pro, and I only can get a rimshot noise to trigger no matter where I hit it. I see poorly glued cords inside but do not know what to do. please help

uhm, not a big deal......but. "pressure plate" is not what that is called. That is a Piezo element, or Piezo transducer or even Piezo pickup. But very useful video for learning to work with the triggers.

All I did was connect my alesis dm7x to a speaker and it worked and the next time I tried to turn it on, it never turned on again
