Are your aftermarket LED headlights flickering? In this video, I'll explain a quick and easy method to prevent flickering in a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
This process may work on other models, but this video is specifically related to the 2021 Grand Cherokee using the JScan software.

I am impressed with your knowledge. Many thanks for your video it added lots of information to me. I have an issue with my durango 2015 that it flashes for 3 times then it is turned off. Is it the same settings i should adjust or there is other settings to be modified?
@completepete
@completepete Год назад
Thanks for your kind words and for watching, Ayman! The setting described in the video should address most flickering issues. If your lights are flashing (or dimming and becoming bright again), and the setting I demonstrated doesn’t solve the issue, I would think that there may be a voltage issue or low quality LED bulbs. I would check the following, in order: 1. Enable the HID setting using forscan 2. Test light function with ignition on and in accessory position. 3. If the lights stay on for a certain period of time before clicking off (with no issues leading up to the flashing/turning off) it could be poor heat dissipation. LED bulbs really require fans as opposed to passive cooling found on many cheaper bulbs. 4. Consider adding resistors or (if not already installed) to try and alleviate potential power issues. What brand lights are you using? I find that brands such as Diode Dynamics (made in America) are of high quality. Did your vehicle come with factory HID bulbs, or Halogen? Diode Dynamics makes a hi/low beam bulb that fits your vehicle, and you can add an anti-flicker module. Good luck!

@completepete
@completepete 2 года назад
This process may solve your issue, but it is also possible that you could need load resistors to prevent the flickering. I would order the parts to try this method from Amazon (or somewhere with a good return policy) and give it a shot. If it does not work, return and contact the manufacturer of the bulbs for resistors.

@completepete
@completepete Год назад
Thanks for watching! The app (JScan) used in this video doesn’t support Saab, but there may be others like it that do. I would start with using a product with inline resistors, or adding an anti flicker module to your existing setup if you haven’t already. The OBD2 adapter may work for you, but checking the compatibility list for whatever you purchase is recommended.

Hi Mike, it sounds to me like your truck thinks your bulbs are out since they draw significantly less power than traditional halogen bulbs. I’d suggest CANBUS bulbs or a CANBUS adapter which will trick the vehicle into thinking the bulbs are drawing the correct amount of power. Most high quality bulbs have this technology built in, but some do require dedicated adapters. What brand bulbs did you buy? I’d check out Diode Dynamics to see if they have anything that fits your needs.

@completepete Год назад
Hi Ron, If you own a vehicle that doesn’t require the bypass cable, connect the wireless OBD2 adapter directly to your vehicles OBD2 port to use this software. Resistors or CanBus adapters may be helpful for your application - I typically recommend speaking with the manufacturer of your bulbs. If a reputable company, they can likely recommend a resistor that will work in-line with their bulb, as opposed to buying something on Amazon. The process of using the JScan software is relatively simple, and is mostly point and click. Using the wireless ODB2 adapter, JScan will also show you the DTCs/trouble codes associated with each vehicle module, if there are any. Good luck!

Thanks for watching! A number of folks have found that CanBus Anti-Flicker modules are helpful to prevent this issue, however, if the bulbs are of good quality, the method described in this video to change the configuration of your vehicle’s computer may be successful. In your case, I would purchase a good anti-flicker module and see if installing that in-line with your bulbs stops the problem. If that doesn’t work, move on to the method I describe in this video. Largely, everything you need can be obtained from Amazon and returned if you find it doesn’t work, with the exception of the JScan license which you can’t get a refund for.

@completepete Год назад
Thanks for watching! Does your vehicle have factory LED headlights? If so, is it the bulbs that came with the car that are flickering, or did you replace them? If the vehicle is still in its stock form, I would say this sounds like a problem with the vehicle’s computer and is likely a recall (or future recall). I’m not aware of any similar software or tool that is non-Honda OEM that could be used for this purpose. If you’re working with stock halogen bulbs that you’ve upgraded, I’d suggest ensuring you have purchased good quality, made in USA LED’s and, if those still present a problem, try installing resistors in-line. Good luck!

My question is, what do I need to do this with my 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss. I have the Lasfit lights installed for by my high and low beams and my low beams will turn on just fine but then will turn off and then back on. Sometimes only one comes back on. Lasfit sent me adapters to possible help with the issue but the way they want me to install them is kind of shady. If I can do it through adaptations that would be a big help. However, I do not know which app would work.
@completepete
@completepete 2 месяца назад
Thanks for watching RCWing! To my knowledge, there is not a trusted, publicly available application for Chevy that serves the same purpose as JScan for CDJR or ForScan for Ford. To help troubleshoot this further, could you provide some additional details including: (1) Does your vehicle have halogen or HID bulbs from the factory, (2) How long are the low beams running before they turn off/turn back on sporadically, (3) when the low beams turn back on (one, or both), is there a certain period of time until they will turn back on, and (4) What method is LasFit asking you to use to install their adapters? I would imagine that CANBUS/AntiFlicker adapters are needed in your situation, but I'd like to work through some of the questions I posed above to help identify any other solutions.

@@completepeteyes, my truck came with halogen light bulbs. It's usually with the first 60 seconds of driving they will either both turn off and both come on, one turn off and come back on, or one turn off and not come back on. If both or one dosen't come back on I just flip the light switch from auto to on and it usually fixes the issue.
@completepete
@completepete 2 месяца назад
Did your purchase include LasFit’s dust covers with the integrated fan, or are they suggesting you cut into the stock rubber dust cover? I’d be curious to see, through a temporary install, if the canbus adapters solve the issue - you could probably design a more efficient/clean way to add them into the loop than what the company is suggesting if that seems to solve your problem, or, perhaps another manufacturer makes bulbs with integrated canbus. If I were troubleshooting, I’d remove the dust cover and hook up one of the canbus adapters (fastened with zip ties or tape temporarily) and assess the result. Does your truck have daytime running lights? Often, DRLs run at a lower intensity which can produce odd interactions with aftermarket LED bulbs. Does the problem occur if you turn the lighting dial to “on” before the bulbs turn off the first time? I’m wondering if the “auto” feature is somehow playing a role.
