This has to be the easiest, most clear, and concise DIY video for appliances I have ever seen. I began the diagnosis as the gentleman described. Once I removed the water filter cover and actual filter. I went back to the refrigerator door and pressed the water dispenser to make sure no more air was in the line. On a haunch, I reinstalled the water filter, and guess what? Pressed the water dispenser on the front door once more and no more noise!! Overjoyed because I had literally just replaced the ice maker a week ago and was determined not to spend any more money on the refrigerator. I guess either there was some air in the line that had caused the noise or I simply needed to reseat the filter. In any case, it's fixed and working as it did originally. That doesn't mean it won't happen again, but for now, money is saved, all because of this video!! Well done!

Thank you tons for this video! It was so helpful in confirming that the problem I had was indeed the manifold, in showing me the part I needed, and assuring that I’d be able to DIY the replacement. Excellent guidance and way to respect your customers privacy.

Great video. Easy to understand & follow! I have the same exact fridge that is doing that same noise. So I ordered the part and will installing later this morning. I just watched your video again to write down all the tools I will need for the job. I am a single mom of an 8 year old daughter and I love being able to show that u can fix anything if u try. I also showed her to do a little detective work watching videos to try to narrow down videos and figuring what’s wrong! So she totally agrees that your video is our exact fridge and is our exact problem. Thanks for a great video!

THANK YOU for making this video. Clear, concise, and very easy to follow. The walk-through helped me understand exactly how to replace the part. The only thing of warning is that for the exact refrigerator you show on the video, which is the exact one I have as well, the Amazon part list says that it does not include that refrigerator. However, since I saw this fridge was the same as I mine I went ahead and bought the part. It worked just as in your video. Thank you again for making it!

First off, I have to give a SHOUT OUT to DIY Repairs Now!!! I like to fix things at my house, but my refrigerator was throwing me for a loop. I'm a pretty new home owner and never ran across a water hammer issue before. This step-by-step video helped with fixing it once I got brave enough to tackle it (I must have watched the video about 15 times before doing it). However, once I ordered the part (btw, the part number in the video is no longer available; they have a new part number which is, GE WR17X22066 Refrigerator MWF Water Filter Head and Tubing), the job was SUPER simple and my part only cost me about $60 which, I ordered off of Amazon. If I would have had a technician come to house it would have cost us $160‐$200 just for the tech to show up and no telling how much for parts and labor. This was a much more cost effective and simple fix to do on my own (you just have to have the huts to pull out a few screws, which I did with my drill and a bit, just like in the video, which made it super simple)!!! Thanks DIY Repairs!!!

In my opinion is it just uses But the manufacturing sad that this is caused by people using aftermarket generic filters

@@DIYRepairsNow Thanks. I agree with your opinion. The manufacturer's points is not correct in my case. I've been using genuine GE filters the whole time (6 years). In my case, I believe I applied too much force while changing the filter this past time. That, or just wear and tear.

Could this sound be described as a "water hammer" banging for a second or so? That's how I would describe our issue. It happens more frequently during the winter. For us, it happens on its own, not connected to when the system is pumping water. Probably happens every 30 to 60 minutes on our fridge.
@douglass1221
@douglass1221 Год назад
I have that as well. Did you replace this part like he showed? Did that fix it?
@stevemcgough2543
@stevemcgough2543 Год назад
@@douglass1221 - Nobody answered my question so our fridge keeps doing that hammer sound on it's own, mostly during the winter. Not related to running the water, so I did not do this repair.
@Bob_Zombie
@Bob_Zombie Год назад
Could related to the ice maker drawing on water, even if you aren’t running the water on its own
@stevemcgough2543
@stevemcgough2543 Год назад
@@Bob_Zombie But it almost exclusively happens when it's cold. I can not remember it happening at all this past summer, but last winter it was as often as every couple of hours. Same since it's been cold this winter.

Unfortunately this needs replaced every 3-5 years. No aftermarket parts or filters have been used. GE needs to improve the product.

Will this cause icemaker to stop working also? My fridge started doing this and icemaker also stopped working
@DIYRepairsNow
@DIYRepairsNow 6 месяцев назад
Yes, This Could Also Cause the Refrigerator to Not Make Ice, if you are Not Getting Water From the Door Either. However, Sometimes it Could be the Water Valve. I think this Video May Help you as Well: How to Fix GE Refrigerator Not Making Ice or Getting Water on Dispenser | Model GSS25GSHJCSS ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xtcE5dZh4gg.html

You didn't want to film the noise due to privacy but you film their kitchen. Things that make you go hmmm. Mine is making a noise but I don't want to do this if it's not the same noise.
@DIYRepairsNow
@DIYRepairsNow Год назад
What make me go hmmm. Is how you compare those two things I asked for permission to film their kitchen but not there private conversation between each other’s I really think a lot of people should read before they send what they type😎👍🏻

@DIY Repairs Now 🤣🤣 I'll tell you what makes me go hmmm. Is no where in the description says you had a private convo. You said you didn't record the noise to protect their privacy. So your respecting the privacy of the noise making the sound? Maybe you should go back and watch your video. Yes reading is fundamental. Guess you should read before you type. Good day sir!
