I don't have a steam deck but as far as I know it doesn't have a big picture mode. What is the issue with the controller on there?

@@tonyhormiga5242 steam deck use to have big picture mode but in the new update they removed that feature whenever I tried to play spiderman remaster it foreces me to play with mouse and keyboard only way to disable is through big picture mode

I dont own that game so I cant test completely but are you on a windows OS? I've tested a couple of things and there is a way to get big picture mode to not open with an xbox controller without unbinding the button in steam at all. Regardless of what you have I'll leave the info here in case. Step 1: You'll have to have gamebar enabled.(Just search gamebar at bottom left and click gamebar settings and enable it) Step 2: Open gamebar and go to settings (top right of the widgets bar) Step 3: Click on shortcuts and enable "Open Game bar using X guide button" Then make sure its working (opening and closing gamebar) Step 4: Completely close/exit steam if you already have it open. (Important) Step 5: Open steam again and once it is open push the guide button and it should only open gamebar. Step 6: Do steps 2 and 3 again but this time disabling the "Open Game bar using X guide button" Now it shouldn't be opening neither gamebar nor big picture mode. Unfortunately I can't test if it will work in the game but if it does you will have to follow these steps every time before you start steam(pain).

Well it worked but I discover when you turn the controller off then back on again it resets so this kinda did but didn't work..

​​@@sjames_14That's strange. I just tested it. I turned off my controller and restarted my pc and I'm not having that issue. It seems it may not be saving your settings.

Is that after doing the tutorial or with default settings? Was it working before? Is it in every game?

@@charalambosmichael6161 Well if its only happening in one STEAM game but works in the others, the only thing I can imagine is there is a different in-game mapping for L1 or something like that. You could try to reset to defaults and make sure you still are mapping L1 and all the buttons correctly. The only button we are unmapping it the ps button in the middle. If that doesn't work, you might have to go back to default settings until you figure out what's cancelling out the L1.

No I don’t think so when i tested the controller on steam when it told me press L1 I pressed R1 and it worked perfectly

Steam has nothing to do with game bar. This tutorial helps with steam. Xbox app is another story.

@@tonyhormiga5242 the problem is steam has a feature which changes what the Xbox button does, this overrides the windows gamebar setting

@@tonyhormiga5242 when steam is open or in the background the windows setting that changes the Xbox button to display gamebar automatically gets turned off after pressing

You're welcome. Sorry but I'm not sure what you are talking about with the xbox controller share button. Is this a steam issue? What usually happens in steam when you press the share button?

@@tonyhormiga5242 I found that there's a bug if you connect your Xbox controller via BT instead of the cable then the Share button does not work, so that started happening when this steam this was affecting but at the end I found that there's an existing bug on the Microsoft side

The point of this tutorial is to make big picture NOT open. So if it aint opening then you followed the steps correctly. If that isn't what you want then don't follow the steps in this video.

This comment doesn't make sense to me. It worked 1 percent? Lol. It works for most people. Try again or maybe you have a different issue.
