Hey, just wanted to say thanks for your videos. I was able to do my lights by watching your videos and saved myself over $1k for labor.

Thank you. Perfect video for my tripping transformer. Based on you top, I now know which of the two feeds to investigate. One line lit up for a second but other feed did not. Plus now I will just forget about the underground, 6 foot section and just connect a new wire to the transformer to test the first bulb on the line. Thanks!!

Thank you. I found this vid very helpful. First of all, you are very good-looking and should be modeling yourself, not lighting fixtures. :) Second, is it me or do the integrated LED fixtures just never last very long? I pay more for the LED fixtures expecting them to last longer, and they don't. Whatever electrical savings I had is wiped out by having to buy a new fixture. I wish I'd watched this video sooner so I would have made sure to purchase the "lamp ready" kind. That makes so much more sense. Getting an integrated LED fixture is like buying a car where when the tires wear out, you have to throw out the car and get a new one. Dumb. Thanks again!

Hi, been watching your vids, and want to try installing myself. So i got the volt brand from costco, i got 6 spot lights and 6 pathway lights. So can i daisy chain the whole thing? About 80 ft. So pretty much use the main wire from the transformer and connect all the lights to it? would the 14g wire be fine? I see you recommend the 12g. Also, the transformer only gets 2 wires connected to it? the comm port and the 12g port? Thers also the hubs for the wires, would it be better to daisy chain instead of using the hubs? Thanks!

Great video. Got an issue with in-retaining wall lighting (so wiring is not accessible without removing and recommending caps). Entire wall is out and original transformer died. But new one won't power it. However partially dismantling multiple bulbs allows direct powering of bulbs, but power does not propagate to other lights from these bulbs (I am connecting power to the place where red and black wires solder on to the led board). Does this mean I have a short somewhere? How come the light closest to power still lights up?

Hi, great video. Had a question. I want to add low voltage to my landscape. I already have an existing landscape hardwired to the house. If I wanted to add 12 spotlights, is it possible to connect to existing system by just finding a wire an tapping it or so I need to setup a Lowe voltage transformer and connect the spotlights to that. Essentially leaving both systems separate.

It really depends on wattages and amou ts of lights you akready have on the existing system. If it is an older system I would reccomend just starting with a new transformer and wiring the lights from there. 👍

On e completely different note, how do fix lights that wont stand in the stake anymore because the plastic threaded part that screws into the stake is decayed? I use epoxy every year and it lasts for the season but next year back where I started. Yea I know I should replace the fixture but lot more work and dont have the money for new set. Any other suggestions?

Quick question: I have a 12v system. One fixture does not work but i am getting the same volt readings at all fixtures. I have replaced the socket but bulb still does not work. i replaced bulb with a known working bulb too. any thoughts? Thanks, Bill

I ordered lighting from you about a year or more ago. Am I still able to order from your site?

Thanks for this great info. I replaced some older landscape lights with newer LED units. They are all working fine. However, when I was pulling up the lighting wire in my mulch bed to find where it was going, I may have damaged the wiring that went underneath a concrete border and into grass area, feeding more well lights in the grass area that now don't work. The wire (heavy duty) is not visibly broken, but I wonder if the wires snapped inside the rubber shielding. I don't feel any breakpoint in the wire. Is there any no contact tester for dc circuits that can be used to look for breakpoints in landscape lighting wire?

I lost all my landscape lighting. My 200 watt Hampton Bay transformer has power, but when I put a test light on the wire that hooks up all the lights, there was no power. We have has a lot of rain here in NY as of late.

Hi! I just changed my led 12v string light at one tree, it was working fine. and then when I went to chnage on my second tree string light, I was checking connection, it was lit up and after some time all of the lights from that phase are not working. Like I have 3 phases (3 circuits) other 2 phases are working but the 3 rd phase has suddenly stopped working. I checked if it was tripped or something but that’s not the case. What could be the issue ? Please help . Thank you 🙏🏼

Hi , been struggling with my landscape lights. They have worked for 3 years as a charm. But now none of them except 1of 10 are not turning on. When i turn the transformer ON in test mode once in a while they all turn on but then after that when i turn it to ON mode only 1 light turns ON. Even changed a brand new transformer, the issue still perisits so which means no issue with the transformer. Please advise what the issue could be Thanks in advance

What do you do when a landscape light measures 25V ?

Excellent instructional videos. Thanks for taking the time to educate me about my low-voltage project. I was wondering about an idea used by the previous owner of my house. He used a square d 16v output transformer with terminals he created. (He was an electrical engineer) . I am ok with the 16v for the long. HOWEVER, I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SHORT RUNS. WOULD 16V HURT THE LIFE EXPAND OF MY LIGHT BULBS OR LIGHT FIXTURES? I am planning to do my connection in a series circuit. I am using 12g wire for the project and do have a professional-grade transformer that I can use instead of the old square d that is currently used. I thank you for your time!

I have volt lighting and I thought I had to replace the whole light itself not the bulb. The only thing is that I can't remove the top to get to the bulb.

It depends if it is an integrated LED fixture or lamp ready fixture. You can check out some of our reccomend volt fixtures at lightingdoctor.net all of which are lamp ready
