This is a possible solution for fixing the hideous multicolor lines in your laser printer. It may not fix every printer, but it's a worthy thing to try before purchasing any equipment. While this printer doesn't do everything I'd like out of a printer (duplexing, scanning, faxing), I can't bring myself to buying a new laser printer, since this one works and was free. Bonus points for the wide array of inexpensive aftermarket toner cartridges.

Great video, as I was looking for how to remove the cover on the toner waste reservoir. Other sites suggest wearing disposable latex gloves as oils from fingers will damage the transfer belt (and I've seen this happen). I would NOT suggest using a cotton swab in between the toner wiper and the transfer belt. This needs to be a very tight fit, and there is a risk it might loosen it or leave cotton particles. Excellent - fixed my problem. You complain about the feed for tray 1 @13:50. You just need to pull out and flip the light grey tray extender.

I ended up doing something similar with my printer, a Kyocera, but used a vacuum to suck up the toner from the roller and drum unit. Once assembled it didn't print anymore and just churned out blank sheets?!? im not sure whether I damaged anything and my toner cartridges are all new. but it still prints blank sheets 😞

Omg we've just done ours fir the first time, hiw dirty it was... wow!!!! Unfortunately we niq have coloured lines vertically on every page. What have we done wrong?

If you unplug the printer and wait 30 minutes the fused shlkld be cool enough that burning yourself shouldn’t be a problem as for those waste bins if it has a chip on it emptying it won’t do you any good as the printer will still register that its full.

You could have just removed the blade on the transfer belt by removing a couple of screws on the side of the unit. Then use a 3m vacuum to clean out the unit before reassembly.

With the waste toner collection, remove the rubber piece and place the mouth over a small-ish plastic garbage bag then shake it out. Wait for it to settle down before removing it from the bag. After removing the transfer belt cover, it's usually stuffed with waste toner. Carefully dump that out. Not in the sink! Toner clogs pipes. And Warm or hot water sets it on your clothes or hands. I think the best would be bring it outside and use canned air after most of it is dumped. If you screw up the belt, a belt replacement is about 75% of the cost of the printer. I'm an Ex-HP field engineer.

A agree with the trash bag & not putting fine toner particles down the sink and into the water system. Not a good idea to take it outside (unless it's nightime) - I've seen other sites/posts that the transfer belt is sensitive to light.
