2013 Acura TSX Sport Wagon winshield was leaking. Show you how to fix it and how to rig up the winshield trim molding after you break off all the tabs trying to get it off!
After hours of screwing with it - turns out leak was coming from a warped gasket under the roof rack! Man, I was way off

These are a pain! My car had 1 retainer come off one of the sides and the other side had 2 that came off. One retainer came off but I didn't want to remove the tape that was still attached to the car's body, so I just used 3M Weatherstrip adhesive to attach the retainer clip to it. It works for now but if it won't work, I will try 3M tape for moldings. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. How did it end up working out. Did the 3m tape hold up over time.

Jonathan H 😂 now I got second thoughts but still my trim is a bit damaged it doesn’t hurt to put silicone.. I’m getting mad water leak on the front passenger side and it’s not the sunroof because I checked it already and the headliner isn’t wet so I was thinking either the front windshield or idk what else🤦‍♂️

@@rcmc1256 did you end up taking the trim off? If you want to half ass it try getting some of that flowable silicone and squirting it at the top and allow it to flow down and find the leak. That trim sucks to mess with man

Are those retainers you show with the red 3M tape new from Acura? I ask because I bought new retainers from Acura and they came with a light green/yellow tape on them, but I can't find any film to peel off. Are you supposed to heat those clips to stick them to the A pillars?
@towerh6680
@towerh6680 2 года назад
Well that's off. Nope it was just double sided 3M tape from the store. Yeah I would gently heat it to get it to stick better. Good luck

I have a similar dilemma. My 2012 TSX DRIVERS SIDE windshield molding flew off the car on the interstate and before I could pull over and go back for it, someone ran over it. In the video you mention the trim pieces are $150 - $160. The cheapest I have found is $186. I am not happy about that. But my question is where did you find one for $150-160? Thanks

Ah that sucks! I just found the part # and kept searching Acrua parts sites...problem was after you get the part in your cart then they kill you with the ridiculous shipping charges. Did you try salvage yard web sites? I've gotten stuff from car-part.com

Does the trim come with a rubber lining that touches the windshield?

I'm in the process of tracking down A-pillar dampness on both A-pillars in my 2013 TSX wagon. It's not the sunroof. It's not the roofrack mounts. I guess the windshield is the next logical place to check. How do you remove the side moldings without breaking them?
@towerh6680
@towerh6680 2 года назад
That's the million dollar question. I made the video so you can see how its supposed to be done but it doesn't seem like the guy before me knew how to do it either
@towerh6680

You're 100% sure it's not the rack mounts? I did many water tests right at the rack rails and didn't think it was either. Ended up giving up and taking it to my body shop guy and he figured out how to get the rack molding off and it clearly was the rack mount
@HomerShannon
@HomerShannon 2 года назад
@@towerh6680 I'm not 100% sure, but I caulked the rack bracket with butyl rubber, which I use for bedding boat stanchions and it works well. I ran a hose on the area after and it's still leaking. I have a little "crack" in the bondo-like stuff in the track weld seam at the very front. I put some silicone on that today and will test again tomorrw. Thanks for getting back. I'll let you know how I do.

@@HomerShannon Dude I was 99% sure it wasn't the rack...and it was. I bet u water is getting in through the same spot as me- it's the bolt that holds down the rack, the rubber around it shrinks. I would first figure out how to access that (I couldn't figure it, my auto body guy did) before messing with the trim on the windshield. Seems fishy to me you would have 2 leaks on both sides.
@towerh6680
@towerh6680 2 года назад
Under the rack is a rail that the water is supposed to travel through and then dump somewhere. If you are getting any water whatsoever under the rack rail its gonna find its way into the bolt opening and then down your A pillar

Not trying to knock on you for fixing your own car. But never use silicone it promotes rust and will cause bigger issues in the future. Use windshield urethane only. Or pay a shop to fix it right which is usually $75-$125
