How do you stop your dog from reacting on the leash? In this dog training video, Tom Davis works with a dog with bad leash aggression. His leash reactivity is pretty bad but Tom teaches the owners not only how to stop the reactivity but why it's caused.

@@tomdavisofficial Tom, I pray you can feel how you touch ppl's lives. Seeing dogs respond to you usually makes me happy cry. I like and comment as often as I can because I know it helps you continue to save dogs. I share and encourage friends to subscribe too. Life for you will just continue to get better and better. This I know w certainty. I'm disabled and am searching for a trainable service dog. I can't afford to buy one. So I look to you to help me train. I like your style and confidence over other trainers I've watched. Do you offer online coaching?

I’m a recent follower and I’m so amazed how You work the dog and the owner I’m still working the stray I found in January. It’s a long road but it’s worth it. I’m trying to save his life. No one would take him ( rescues) so I kept him. Today I fell in my yard and couldn’t get up ( I suffer from chronic pain and once I’m down I’m down) Sarge came right to me and stood strong to help me get up. He didn’t care that I was pulling down on him or his collar. Maybe he did find me for a reason. But know he needs to learn to love my family Thank you for giving me knowledge I can use. 🐾

Hey Tom I'm a big and long time fan. You really show people that it's not the dog that's the problem it's the owners and I've learned from your videos that that's a problem that we as dog owners need to be aware of and stop taking it out on the animals. This was a great video and I really look forward to your future ones.

Our dog struggles with these same issues. Have tried Mini Educator, prong, gentle leader, with no luck. Stubborn 80 lb boxer girl with a lot of fear aggression. She’s gotten a little better on her walks, but still freaks when she sees other dogs and isn’t crazy about visitors to the home. Won’t give up on her. She’s a great dog.

It blows my mind that a vet said he should be euthanized just for his fearful reactivity. 🤯 He’s a sweet boy and he was just looking for some guidance to feel more confident and trust in his owners! Great job Tom, Geo, and Geo’s owners!

Vets are great at medical treatments, surgeries and medicine not behavior modification. It's easier for them to press the syringe rather than use leash pressure or corrections. 🙃
@emilka2033
@emilka2033 2 года назад
Vets are for the most part not behavioral modification specialists and have limited resources - when a dog displays behavior that is potentially harmful to other people they will recommend euthanasia if the owner is not able to train the dog for whatever reason like financial or liability problems. It's a public safety issue and the vet literally can't offer anything else to the client in these kinds of situations. 99% of vets will recommend euthanasia to people with dogs that risk biting someone. (I worked at a vet clinic for a few years and know this process). I wouldn't blame the vet or say that it's the "easy" thing to do because it isn't, and people who euthanize their dogs due to behavioral issues have usually expended all of their options.

Tom, this video is, in my opinion, the best explanation you've given that helps us humans understand what our dog is thinking and how they think about what is happening at any given moment, and the best, quickest, and easiest way for us humans to communicate with our dog. How often during the daily walks do you allow your dog to be a dog? What I do is bring my dog in and heal, slow, quicken up, turn and cross to the other side of the road...then after about 5-8 minutes, I tell him to "go sniff" and allow him to well, go sniff a few places and telling him "good sniff" as he starts sniffing. After about 2-3 minutes, "heal" and we're back at it, checking the neighborhood.

You are so right Tom Davis more people should listen to your videos because you can change the dog training community and have dogs and their owners be much happier and relaxed .once they find out what is going on with their dogs behave and have help for you who understand's so much better than other dog trainers out there it's just like what you said because other dog trains my have you just work around the dog's problem instead of just facing the problem at hand you are so right and you are so pawsome with dogs and their clients. who need help because they have tried everything else to fix the problem and it did not work that way I applaud you so much. you have actively helped save my dog's life when he was a puppy because he had some behavior problems but after watching some of your videos I was able you fix his behavioral trouble for good and I think you so much for that I'm so glad that there is a dog trainer that sees throw a dogs eye of view and the owners.
