How to Fix M1 MacBook Air Won't Turn On

Today we will share how to fix an M1 MacBook Air that won’t turn on. Supplying power to the motherboard, we find that the voltage jumps back and forth between 0V and 5V. The measurement tells us that the working conditions of voltage boost from 5V to 20V are good. After rewriting the ROM data of CD3217 with U301, the MacBook now turns on normally.

How does the rom data get damaged? Per the name, it’s supposed to be read only…

It happens very often also in windows machine. you can damage it during BIOS or OS update process.

Hi. Nice stuff. My question is; What caused the EEPROM to short circuit and lose it's power since it would have to be a UV exposure or a Flash. I'm perplexed.

Hi, Type_C circuit of MacBook all uses a boost process from 5V-20V. If ROM data of the USB_C is damaged, the motherboard will only have a 5V power supply. When the voltage jumps back and forth between 0-5V, ROM data of the USB_C might also be damaged. U301 can rewrite the ROM data and get the motherboard back to a normal boost of 20V.

So basically all the voltages were good so the process of elimination lead to the rom data of the CD32** being scrambled so you need to rewrite it.

this doesn't answer why it stopped working, please when fixing list the possible causes of failure first then diagnostics then what to look for. looks like you just want us to buy that chip reader.

That's the point... It's not directly a lesson channel, in every video there are missing steps. Don't ever try this at home unless you already know what you're doing! Chances high you damage more which leads to non profitable repairs

Hi, we diagnosed the MacBook in the first place. For your information, Type_C circuit of MacBook all uses a boost process from 5V-20V. If ROM data of the USB_C is damaged, the motherboard will only have a 5V power supply. When the voltage jumps back and forth between 0-5V (our initial measurement), ROM data of the USB_C might also be damaged. U301 can rewrite the ROM data and get the motherboard back to a normal boost of 20V.

First of all try a new power flex cable check connectors check for any missing filters/resistors on board

My macbook air m1 is not turning on took it to the service center they are saying that the mac is not responding and mother board needs to be changed and it costs half the price of my macbook dont know where to get it repaired. Now its lying in my shelf🥲
