Thanks. My problem was a little different, but in the same spot. I especially appreciate the insight about the friction fit mock phillips and knowing to bring T20 with me on the first trip. Much appreciated. (2003 Jetta sedan TDI manual xmission)
Worked for a ("new") Beetle too, only the control is on the other side and the interior panel is nearly impossible to get off, but with some maneuvering it is possible to adjust the control without taking off the panel.
Extremely helpfull . Just paid $146 to have my cars ac filled up and leak tested and to be told it wouldn't blow cold because the actuator was prolly stuck on hot and it would cost me another 50-80 bucks to have that done.turns out it was actually broke and hanging down,so I jammed it back up in there turned it to cold and bam cold air. Thx man.
The lever that the cable actuates is connected (the central screw seen in the video) to a more or less cylindrical piece that has a slot on the top that, when pushed up into a tubular housing, engages a metal edge on the bottom of the damper. One must check or feel for alignment between the two before pushing it up. If it continues to fall down the replacement part is ~ $10 from the dealer.
The VW dealer's parts department calls it a "Pin", the PN is 1H0819136, price was $10.36. Realigning it can be challenging, the first time went smoothly and it worked properly for a few days before it popped out (down) again. The part appeared to be intact, but I purchased a new one to be sure. Now the damper door is "retreating" up into the box and I'm wondering whether I need to and disassemble the dash to access it. Wishing you better luck, Ken Scholz (using wife's computer).
Hey, can you tell me where you ordered that part? The VW dealer near me says it's not available for sale except as included in an entire repair kit that costs several hundred. I need that (bushing) pin for a 2002 jetta. Thanks! Ashley
Did you see where the blend door arm was attached, the arm you made move. The piece of plastic that the arm was attached to was coming out. The clips inside are likely broken. You need to pull the arm off and pull the pivot plastic piece out and then put in a new one.
Hi, I'm Having a problem with my ac as well. but everything seems to be working I even had a mechanic look at it. but we couldn't get the ac to work. fuses are good compressor is working but i'm not getting any air flow threw my vents. I replaced air blower and thermo fuse. still isn't working any suggestions.
yeh got the same problem only the opposite , I only had cold air coming out, and when i switch it to warm it would not send warm air.but i couldnt find the flap door cables on the bottom panel .. till i saw this vid .. thanks pal .
Hey, can you direct me please to a reliable online parts store where I can order a (bushing) pin for a 2002 jetta? Mine is damaged but we have it pushed back in for now. 50% cool air coming out only when the control dial is set on heat... Help please! My local vw dealer doesn't have the part to sell me.
vick smith do your radiator fans (ones under bonnet / hood) come on? They should be on full. Speed while not moving because the ac radiator needs air passing over it for it to work,
Was the compressor kicking in before you adjusted the cable I can’t get my compressor to kick in have replaced the auxiliary fan control module has the correct amount of refrigeration in it the problem that I’m having is I am not getting power to the compressor to engage the clutch to make the ac work any help from any one would be appreciated
MrJeepin88 the compressor was indeed working. Have you tried applying voltage to the signal wire on the compressor while the car is running? I sold the car, but that sounds like either a fuse or a relay that is bad. Try switching them with another of the same rating on a system that isn't essential to see if the problem follows.
There's 3 fuses that makes ur compressor work one it's above the battery on the fuse box it's the one on the left 30 amps the other 2 on ur fuse panel slots 5 and 16
Ive had this theory that my cable was acting up. I cant get heat for ever when it's cold out and the a/c wont blow even cool when it's hot. I think its stuck half and half thanks im going to check it. 02 jetta
Hi Matt....maybe you can help me!! I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my moms AC in her 2012 Jetta. It starts out blowing really hot but as you start driving more it starts to cool down a little. It's not the compressor and there is no freon leak either. I have been researching and researching but I am not 100% sure what it could be. Any ideas?
Christy Arnold sounds like there's no coolant flow through with the heater core maybe theirs stuff in your coolant that is gunking up the heater core when it runs through the engine
hey bro i have same problem i have vw 2004 only warm air come out when i switched to cold nothing actually there's no light on bottom ac ?? plz help and i checked fan its not working but i dont have over heat
Sometimes the shaft piece that the lever is fastened to (the center screw visible in the video) drops down (in fact it appears partially out in the video), losing engagement with the tab on the bottom of the damper door. Check that the slot on the top of the shaft engages with the damper before pushing it all the way home.
