Ctrl-Alt-T will also bring up Terminal. Thanks for the vid - I think all major Linux distros today ship with pulseaudio as the frontend to ALSA so your tip re pavucontrol is spot on. This is the kind of thing that most of us dont think about until something mysteriously stops working ;)

I did: sudo apt-get install pavucontrol sudo pavucontrol But the "pavucontrol" app doesn't work actually. It keeps showing "Establishing connection to PulseAudio. Pleas wait...". What should I do?

Command not found when enter suddenly alsamixer

Doesn't work for me. Doesn't recognise "ANY" soundcard I plug in not even the on board soundcard.

I certainly don't like having to settle for Linux Mint on my machine. I love Arch Linux. Every install comes with all the basics, for every machine I've put it on. I remember why I ditched Mint four years ago in search of something better. And I found it. I just can't get Arch to install on this Evolve machine. Got it on my Lemur Pro and my Lenovo just fine.

When I launch pavucontrol, I just get 'establislising connection to pulseaudio' then nothing happens. (Note: no sound after installing pavucontrol in chromium) any ideas? Also I am running parrot OS

For me it still doesn't work although the version of ubuntu has gone to 20.04, and my laptop is made in 2015 year. It isn't new devices.

I recently installed LM on my brand new computer ( HP all-in.one XA i5) and I am truly in love with the OS, BUT I have two major issues that have made the experience a bittersweet one. I have NO audio whatsoever coming out from the speakers ( I do get audio from headphones conneceted via aux) and can´t seem to connect to the WIFI network. I have searched EVERYWHERE and still no solution to my problem. Anybody please help? any idea? I mean, I really love the Linux idea and I was planning to get heavy into computers and Linux OS but it´s discouraging that i need to be struggling with this issues instead of enjoying myself and my OS. I think that if i would have stayed with Windows I wouldn´t have had this issues but i don´t want to go back. I have online classes tomorrow and would like this to be fixed. Please Help !

By me its not working when i open pavucontrol im in a endless "please wait" situation ☹️

Following this tutorial with some intuition, I fixed my issue: 1. sudo alsamixer 2. I noticed that both my "Master" and "Headphone" vertical columns had "MM" displayed at the bottom. 3. For each column with "MM": using the left and right arrow keys to select the column, I pressed the 'm' key once, which toggled the "MM" to "OO" Sound now works.
