@Thinker669 that's up to you. i would leave it as is, trying to turn the odometer forward you can brake something. it won't automatically reset to the actual mileage or anything crazy like that, if that's what you're asking.
Thanks! Great video. My speedometer went about a year ago. Then the odometer just went. Took it apart. It's not the gears on mine. Everything looks good. Did you end up replacing the motor or the whole unit on the one in the video? If so where did you find the parts? Any advice on fixing the speedometer?
@Thinker669 No it doesn't hold memory. There's no way to figure out your current mileage, the odometer is a mechanical setup. Not run by the computer in any way.
@Thinker669 Cool man. I thought all 93's had the upgraded odometer setup that doesn't brake, but maybe some 93's still have the old style like in this video. You can tell a 93 setup because theres no space between the numbers, they are real close together.
Hey I got mine to somewhat work my gears were fine I bought a speed sensor and it didn't work well I happened to find a speedometer and I put it in and it works but after I get to 45 it will jump around and go back to normal when I let off. Any ideas?
Thanks for the video. I just took mine all apart and bought the new smaller gear. I can't remember which way the small gear goes back on though! Which way does the lip on the small gear face?
In my 1991 dash the odometer is not working, but also the gear indicator and the temperature arenworking. Not sure what is related but you may be able to tell me the problem? Speedometer works, oil works, and fuel is sort of working but not very accurate. Without odometer it's really hard to estimate when to fill up. Again, just the 3 not working, odometer, gear indicator and temp gauge. Tks
They are not related. Gear indicator is a cable hooked from the steer column to the needle. Temp gauge is probably the temp sender unit on the engine at the back of the cylinder head. Fuel gauge issue is probably a bad sending unit float in the tank.
91CTD cool thanks! yeah I'm really excited about the vehicle, (it's a Roadtrek), but there's a lot of little things amiss. Engine seems good as was as the cabin and RV parts, but a lot of little things to work out.
+mud digger easy just remove the bezel theres a screew above the radio u may miss. Then remove the cluster and pull the connectors off the back before u pull the cluster too far
Thank you, i was 16 years old when i made this video. And No i never sourced any more parts other then the gears, and now i can't even find where to purchase them. I have a bunch of parts clusters i rob peter to pay paul. Thanks Brandon
