Hi, I have a slightly different problem. One of the wires is torn near the plug itself and there is not much room for me to repair the string like in the video, What would you recommend?
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW BAD I WANT TO HUG YOU!!!! My cat bit threw my Christmas lights on my pre-lit Christmas tree, and I was devastated! 😭😫 Found your video and overnighted the materials from Amazon. I was able to fix it on my own with your simple steps! Thank you so much ♥️♥️🤗
Thank you for the video. Very interesting, but do you know if you can repair lights where the wire has been cut right next to the plug please? I didn’t realise my daughters hoover was that powerful. It sucked the wire up from several inches away and then chopped the wire when the plug couldn’t go up the pipe! She was devastated as they are her favourite lights. Thank you x
We JUST bought a new tree that was still pricey on sale. This morning discovered my mischievous kitten chewed through one of the wires in the tree. I was SO angry - thank you for this. My blood pressure is back to normal and I'm ready to get to work!
Life saver. Our kitten has bitten through our lights. Was going to attempt to rewire and tape up, but wanted to make sure I was doing it right. This really helped. Thanks for posting mate. I've subscribed 👌🏻
Is there a replacement plug this can work for? Unfortunatly large dog also destroyed the TS-66 plug on mine. I I found gilbert vampire plugs but unsure if that will work.
So long as they are low voltage lights, you can bind them together as shown then turn on briefly. If they do not light up then switch off, UNPLUG, and reverse the wires and try again and they should then work. The reason for not lighting up is due to the fact that LEDs are polarity sensitive and must be supplied with the positive feed into the anode leg of the "bulbs".
Thanks for this! We have a kitty that bites any wire we leave exposed - and we don’t always remember to cover them up! You’ve probably saved my hundreds - or thousands - in replacement cords/electronics!
Glad you found my video useful. Bloody squirrels 🐿 😂 Thanks for watching and don't forget to check out my other videos and subscribe to help my channel grow 👍🏼
Glad my video helped you out and I hope the puppy didn't get in too much trouble. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
3 things i would add to this to make it better, when you cut it don't cut them same length, and secondly before you strip them add heat shrink over it so when you twist it looks neat, also as you staggered the joints there isnt much of a bulky part in one area, and thirdly soldering the joints would strengthen it. Of course not everyone has heat shrink, not every one has a soldering iron. Most people have scissors though if snips or strippers aren't at hand.
Thank you for the video, I'll be doing this when the lights come down this week (not because of a pet though, I ran over the cable with the hoover). Out of interest, would you be able to recommend a suitable junction box/connector to protect the new connections if they outside ir likely to be knocked regularly (in a porch, for example). Thank you for your help 🙂
Don’t suppose anyone knows how to fix the wire that it pushed rubber connector which goes into the plug same one as in the video. Mine seems to of got bent and one of the copper wires can come away from the rubber bit that pushes into the plug
Can a similar repair be done to the plug end of a built in pre lit lights. The plug has come away from the lead. This is only the second use of the tree and it would be such a waste of a tree :(
Awesome. It would be nice if there was some kind of plastic gizmo you could feed both wires into and then close it to make an electric connection. I cut one wire accidentally and will use this method to fix it. Subscribed.
squirrels just did in my Christmas lights. I"ll try this to fix them - then spray the lights with something bitter. That's what I get for feeding apples to the little buggers. Thank you!
We get a lot of squirrels where we live but we haven't had them bite any wires but we don't feed or encourage them. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Glad my video helped you save your lights and I hope the cat didn't get in too much trouble. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Thank you! My smug giant rabbit munched through mine and I wanted to cry my eyes out. I was about to go and look for various bits and bobs to fix it, but I have this stuff lying around the house, amazingly. Thank you!
These rabbits always seem to go for wires. Hope my video helped you fix your lights. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Thank🙏🏼🙏🏼 you so so much, my bunny 🙄🐰took a bite last january, while cleaning the tree out. And a few minutes i let them lights on the floor.... 😵💫... The lights 240 , 7 twinkle choices., are safely stuck away on the second layer tree . And behind the radiator. Always ‼️save for bunnies ‼️normally ... and the power was off thank god. 😌 But i followed the first part , stanleyknife, split them ( but al sides where the same) just made 4 clean wires. Put them 2 by 2 ...and I DID IT !!!! ... single moms with two left hands , must use You TUBE . I even refill my water/radiator boiler now . I think i am " a talent just awakening " ... 👻
Hi. My outdoor lights were chewed through - I have tried the method per your video but with no success. When I plug in and leave for a while - the plug itself gets really hot - any ideas? The wire was broken and wet (as it had rained) when I found it in the morning - not sure if that has damaged it irrevocably. Any help would be appreciated - thank you!
Sorry for my late reply. Hope you had a great Christmas. And I hope my video helped you fix your lights. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
This worked perfectly! My cat chewed through the wires of my tree last year, and I was nervous I was gonna be stuck replacing the tree (prelit) or that I wouldn't be able to use the lights anymore. Thanks!
Enjoyed the video was helpful. I have a christmas tree made of string lights but the wire came out of the plug (like the one in your video) any suggestions how to fix it. Thank you.
Nice, thanks. Some idiot cut the cable getting the tree out of a bin liner. Now some idiot is watching you video and looking for some insulating tape in the shed ;-)
Hi, so pleased to have found this video, this is exactly what’s happened to my solar lights in the garden. My problem is that they are not marked with dots as yours are, how do I know which wire to connect to which? Thanks
Thank so much for sharing this video , i have a puppy and after one night he chew the christmas lights i thought i had to bye new ones but i come over on the youtube to search and i found your video and it work i got my christmas lights working. one more time Thank you for sharing it save a lot of money
I accidentally broke my lightning cable which has 7 copper wires. Do each of those 7 wires has to be connected to their responsive one on the other end? or can I twist them to together into one big wire?
It certainly would have been a neater way and a much better way but not everyone has access to a soldering iron and a heat gun so I kept it as simple as possible for everyone to be able to mend their lights without buying specialist tools. Hii. I wanted to ask.. is this safe? My lights got ruined too and i did this bit im afraid to plug the lights in. Is there any possibility of it causing a shirt circuit?
Update after 30mins : Just fixed it. Second try 😅 got the cables wrong the first time. They are all black, the 3 of them 🙄 Thank youuu for the help and the motivation ❤️❤️❤️😁
Thank you!! Exactly what I needed to know for might lights outdoor, where something has chewed the wire in two and I really didn't want to replace it, as it was a hassle to get wrapped around the tree. Quick question though, my wire doesn't have any indicators to distinguish the two sides apart (like the white dots) - how do I go about that? Try and see? :D Cheers
Not a problem, glad my video helped you. Just wish I could find a way to stop the rabbit biting through wires and skirting boards 🙈 Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
@@spendtimesavemoneydiy thank you very much ❤️ do you have video of how to set time of analog boiler clock and how to fix if broken (doesn’t keep the set time , doesn’t go round anymore) . Appreciate if you know and can make video
Glad my video helped you fix your lights and I hope your cat didn't get into too much trouble. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Just like everyone else, you're a lifesaver!! Rabbit chewed up the cord just like you after a day of having it up, I tried slicing the wires but didn't realize they had to be separated. Saved the holiday in this household thanks sooo much!!!
