Here is another point to supplement this line of thinking.. I wondered why suddenly a couple years ago I started having extremely tight painful muscles. I had a history of some previous car accidents that gave me certain muscular pains and I treated weekly with chiropractic.. but chiropractic wasnt helping the tight muscles.. Fast forward to last year when my base fasting glucose level was creeping up 20 points.. Then I went modified keto to address the sugar and my next fasting glucose was back to normal.. there were other benefits also, not important here.. I dont have plantar- just general tight muscles.. so more keto!!

I was born with two club feet and had my ankles corrected and fused at birth. I'm 34 now, and I was experiencing severe arthritis in said ankles. I considered seeing a doctor about ankle replacement or re-fusing my ankles. I even considered amputation and prosthetic feet because the pain had become so unbearable. In November 2021 I went carnivore, and my inflammation, pain and arthritis are virtually nonexistent. I enjoy running again for the first time in YEARS. I don't foresee myself ever coming off an animal-based diet. I watched nearly every video of yours, Dr. Berry and thank you for the education and knowledge that has given me so much freedom. I have had PF for YEARS. Put a bottle of Vodka (any liquor) in the freezer, roll your foot on that. Stretching 3 full minutes when I get out of bed in the morning. I put my elbows on the mattress, stretch archilles tendon. Stand up and roll your foot on a hard ball. Tennis ball, golf ball, balls made for foot issues. Just started rolling the calf muscle as well with a short stick with rollers on it. It works. Rolling the ball on my foot cured my left foot in a few days. Right foot is a bit more trouble. Your theory is correct… once I started counting TOTAL carbs and increased my consumption of meat, my plantar fasciitis disappeared. I used to get out of bed and have to wait a few minutes while standing before I could walk. And even so, I would limp (a lot) the whole way to the bathroom. I would have to take breaks throughout the day to sit down because of the pain. I would have trouble wearing certain types of shoes (boots were the worst) because of the extreme discomfort. Now I don’t even have to think about it!

100 percent true! I have suffered from plantar fasciitis (and most recently heel spurs) for at least twenty years, not continuously but at different times in my life. I’ve been to doctors, had various treatments, had expensive custom orthotics made, you name it. Going low carb - especially eliminating wheat and sugar - makes the PF go away and also eliminates other inflammation-related aches and pains. I struggle to stay sugar and grain free but it is SO worth it, especially as I get older. Being active, mobile and on no prescription drugs is how I want to go into my older years.
@adrievanduijn8334
@adrievanduijn8334 4 месяца назад
How long did it take for you noticing that the pain of PF decreased? And is that all by stopping with wheat and sugars?
@Slivings911
@Slivings911 4 месяца назад
@@adrievanduijn8334 I really don’t know how long. I’ve been mostly pain free for a while now, but the PF has come and gone for 20 years. Diet truly does help keep inflammation down, though. I think if you eliminate all sugars and grains, and nightshades as well, you will notice improvement fairly soon, but it depends on the level of inflammation I suppose. Each person is different. It may take a while or you may notice improvement immediately. And yes, sugar in particular is the main culprit. But also wheat/grains, they just take a little longer to make their effect known. Good luck! I recommend this way of eating.

As a hairdresser it was normal to be in my feet standing mostly in one spot for anywhere from 10-16 hours a day. Being 130lbs overweight didn't help. I knew nothing of keto or carnivore back then. I got plantar fasciitis in both feet and limping and using a cane incorrectly caused me to also develop a strain in my hip flexor. I thought I was going to die it hurt so bad. The shop where I worked closed down which turned out to be a blessing. With time on my hands I finally started taking time for myself and my health. I quit the gym, started keto, and learned about the PHD. Today I'm down 81lbs, 24 years late I'm finally at my pre pregnancy weight. I'm never hungry or hangry. I want to add something that you didn't mention that helped me and you probably didn't mention it because it seems so intuitive. I was a 15 year plantar fasciitis sufferer with no break in between. I did have a job where I was on my feet for upwards of 12-14 hours a day so I always attributed the condition to that. Once I left that job my pain remained for another 9 years until this happened. I bought the correct size of shoe. My whole adult life I thought I was a size 14 shoe when in fact I was a size 13EEE. So when I was still growing and my shoes got tight I naturally went up a size when I just needed a wider shoe. When I started wearing the proper size my pain went away within a week and hasn't returned. Sorry for the long story but I if it helps someone then it's worth the read.

I used to have a flare-up when I ate oranges or drank orange juice. People thought I was crazy. It turns out it had more to do with my SAD diet. Keto and Carnivore eliminated Plantar Fasciitis and many other uncomfortable things!

This is great information, thank you. 15 years ago I dealt with plantar fasciitis for roughly a year, I was incredibly active, I was at the gym every single day, I was extremely fit etc. This was part of it, the other part was I was wearing size 7 sneakers, many different pairs when in fact I should’ve been wearing a size 6 1/2. My foot had gotten a half size larger when I was pregnant and I just kept wearing that size when at some point my feet had gradually gone back to a 6 1/2. Once I realized this I bought properly fitting sneakers and also started using a whole body vibration plate regularly, which helps reduce inflammation. It completely went away. Obviously what I was eating was the problem and I completely believe and understand that but the wrong size shoe and the excessive exercise combine with my diet it seems is what created this in the first place. This does not apply to me now but it was very informative as always. Thank you.

Hi Dr. Berry, I had a bout with Plantar Fasciitis about two years ago while walking the golf course to get fit. Coincidentally, I began to cut sugar and carbs out of my diet to reduce weight and the body aches and inflammation I was feeling. In the past year and a half I’ve lost 50 lbs (from 230 to 180 lbs) and my Plantar Fasciitis is gone. Little did I know that it was my Keto diet, not the weight loss that had the most significant effect on my foot pain! I am 69 years old and a zero sugar and Keto/Low Carb advocate forever! This journey has been life changing! Thank you for all that you do!

I have done keto diet before and never thought it was helping. But looking at this video, I will do keto again to get rid of this current pain I’m experiencing. So thankful for this video

You are so right doctor Berry (like always). In the fourth quarter of 2021 I went off the path of right eating and had too many carbs. My heel started hurting. Then in January I joined a carnivore challenge, and now my problem is almost gone. Thanks for reminding me how bad carbs are.

I had chronic PF after my pregnancies (and consequent diet change- high carb) for several years and the ONLY thing that brought healing was changing my diet to a ketovore diet. I'm thankful for the doctors that teach this info online like Dr. Berry and Dr. Jason Fung. I don't want to know where I'd be if I hadn't learned about the proper human diet.

I developed PF a couple of years ago and it took 3 months to heal. 1 week ago I got PF again, from running stairs two at a time and sprinting, I had overdone it! This time around, after a week all pain had completely gone, it had been so painful I couldn't walk on it. I have been wearing my running shoes all day for support and icing my foot at night. I cannot believe how fast my foot has healed and I know it's because of my diet. I have been strict carnivore now for 3 months. Thanks Dr. Berry for giving me a new life with my health.

I suffered from plantar fasciitis for months and months, trying everything to heal it. Got covid and was in the hospital August 12-15, discovered I was diabetic, started keto August 31. Reduced my a1c from 12.5 to 6.3 and my morning fasting numbers of 500 down to 82 (this morning) in just 4.5 months. I started noticing my foot wasn't hurting as much and I thought inflammation was leaving my body. I knew then it was all connected. After watching your video just now, you confirmed it. Amazing what healthy foods does to your body....same with what unhealthy foods can do to that same body.

From my experience, on top of eating correctly to minimise inflammation: 1. Keep your feet supple and mobile. Roll the sole of your feet over a golf ball (a tennis ball is too big and soft). After time you should be able to put most of your body weight onto the ball and your foot will mould around it. 2. Keep your feet strong. Use them! Do feet exercises whenever you are sat watching TV or on the computer and walk barefoot as much as possible. 3. Wear shoes that strengthen, not weaken, your feet. All orthopaedic shoes/insoles weaken our feet and cushioned heels encourage us to walk incorrectly, we are not designed to heel strike when we walk. Pick zero drop shoes and work towards wearing barefoot shoes all the time. 4. Grounding. Walk barefoot on the earth, this is also proven to reduce inflammation, not just in your feet.

I had terrible PF years ago. The doctor prescribed custom orthodics which worked to reduce the pain, but it never went away. What finally worked for me was foot massage... specifically Thai foot massage where they use a kind of "accu-pressure" which to be quite honest is 100% BS. However, one of the pressure points was exactly where the plantar facia attached to the heel. They would use a wooden dowel to apply that pressure. I had them put A LOT of pressure on that point and over time, my PF seemed to just go away. I went from limping and needed inserts to being able to walk barefoot on a tile floor. This was long before I went keto.

I read this diet helps with inflammation. Cant wait to see how I feel down the road. My hubby started with me who is diabetic on orals and insulin. He hasnt taken any insulin for 3 days. Blood sugars are steady. His doc wanted to put him on an insulin pump. We talked about doing keto or carnivore. Decided on keto. Thank you for this info on PF and KETO 101. God bless you!

I suffered from PF diagnosed by a podiatrist for a few years. I required expensive orthotics, night splints, stretching, ice, etc. I did not find relief until I changed my diet. I was already relatively low carb but was eating a lot of spinach and almonds. I am convinced that oxalates played a large role in my case. When I cut that out and went more carnivore, it vanished and has not recurred. Another Lie My Doctor Told Me! :-). Thank you so much for setting me straight!

After living low carb, whole foods and time restricted eating for several months and losing lots of weight, gettting rid of all my internal inflammation issues, etc. it has almost completely disappeared. I still have discomfort after standing for longer than 45 minutes and my feet get tired quicker than before the PF issues. But it's so much better thanks to my healthy diet and life style. I'm dealing with my 2nd bout of pf. The first was late 2017 when I was doing keto. I had put a lot of effort into my keto diet. This 2nd bout started after being meat-based for 3yrs and finally going zero-carb carnivore in March of this year, 2023, but there was a trigger that I could point to this 2nd time; I sprinted full speed 4x from the back of a house to my work van to get my tools out of a sudden rain storm. Another factor is that in both cases, I had been working seven days a week screening pool enclosures after a hurricane. I wasn't getting enough rest. Also, that foot has a different arch than the other and I have always needed arch support for that foot only. So, my diet was good in both cases.

Yes! I knew there had to be something to this! After a rough post partum time, I suffered from PF for the first time. My diet was crap and I wanted to get back to my pre baby weight and get rid of the uncomfortable swelling of my feet that went on well over 3 months after delivery. I went on keto because I had had success in the past (after all I "blame" keto for getting prego for the first time in my late 30s- now I have a beautiful little girl!). So I was surprised after a week or so on keto that I wasn't struggling in the morn. I dont even have to use a night splint anymore! Plus the swelling went away.

I was actually very surprised and I didn't expect it. I also lost all of my summertime hayfever allergies.

I had my first case of PF at age 68, a couple of months before I went keto. Pain out of nowhere when I got out of bed, crawling from the bedroom to the living room. It lasted less than less a week, but came back a month later when I bought new walking shoes with an insert and it's been gone since. But I did start keto and got my insulin level way down as well as inflammation. I only lost 40 pounds, but that's all the weight I needed to lose.
