Several videos for this process, but for me yours was the best!! Showed every step up close so even 60+ me and my 70+ hubby managed to get it done the first try AND didn’t kill each other. Thank you so much!
I never comment on stuff but this video just saved my husband from buying a new washer. I didn’t some digging and I decided I was going to try and attempt to fix my washer. I wasn’t able to wash clothes without the shaking and knocking. I just finish a load and it was so quiet!! This video helped a ton.
Thanks to your video I was able to repair my washer machine without having to ask anyone for help. I'm sharing to all my diy ladies. Bless you and again THANKS!
Great instructions and now my washer isn't shaking like hell, definitely saved me money. Only downside is my vicegrips slipped and I tore open a 1 1/2 inch gash on my thumb, but it's whatever-- user error, should've been more careful. For anyone reading this: make sure your grips are VERY tight so you're not a dummy like me.
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge. I wish I had found your video sooner before I went out and bought a new washing machine. (Not happy with the new style) I had placed the old washer outside and was waiting for the scrap people to pick it up. Stumbled across your video and thought that's what mine was doing. Brought it back to the garage. Ordered the parts off Amazon and I was able to repair my own washing machine with your help. Your a blessing THANK YOU
THANK YOU! I watched your video twice. Ordered the parts and now my washer is running smooth and quiet like new. It’s definitely doable alone but and extra hand just to help with balancing helps. It was just as easy as you made it look .
YOUR video helped more than any! Got them replaced (after having to order three sets total. The first two are not the right length. This Amana washing machine needs a 25 1/2 inch rod. Just FYI.) Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
TOTALLY AWESOME!!! you made it looks so easy. This Girly Girl thinks I will give it a try. Washing machine was moved to storage by non pro movers and has been sitting for 2 years. so I replaced the hoses on the back. Thought that was the end of it THEN the whole tub started banging from side to side every time it got to the spin cycle. So I will try to replace the shocks. I'll let you know how it turns out. lol to be continued.
Thank you for posting this vid. Our machine has been dancing aroudn for a couple of months now. I was going to bolt a couple of bricks to the side of the machine, but decided to google the problem first. This vid will save me a lot of headache and grief from the wife.
You explain things so well! Thank you! My washing machine shakes so violently that the sides of it start lifting up off the ground and I have to run over and hold it down while I press the stop button so it doesn't knock everything over. It scares me everytime 😬
Perfect Vid! Assisted me step by step, allowing quick cheap repair on a job that would have taken a lot longer to figure out on my own or repair bill that would have been a total loss on older washer! Problem solved, works great!
Thank you.... for helping so many people with your video. Great camera angles and video. Like all the safety warnings about gloves and power. Keep up the great work.....Hope you have a facebook page telling people all the things you can do for them.....they would be glad to pay some money to help them in these hard times....
Just bought my mom a set used but they look nice I thought they were going to work, but I only use it twice and it started banging loud scared my elderly mother I kept trying to tell the people where I bought it what it was doing whatever time I tried to take a video it was too late and this is exactly what it was doing and this is the same washer I appreciate you taking your time and sharing this video. God bless you be well and stay safe
This is the most informative and said so calm and clear being very careful to mention every detail that even a baby can understand very very good & BRAVO
I just wanted to say thank you very very much. My washer has exact symptoms. I appreciate the links also. Good Lord willing I'll have mine fixed in a week. Thanks again
not only good talking through , but also good camera work too ......just ordered the part and my drum is bouncing all over the place ....looking forward to replacing these myself ....thank you gracias amigo
Thank you so much you did an excellent job, was a big help for me and the problem with my Amana Washer moving. It is a very good washer, I have had mine for seven years.
Excellent video, thank you. Haven't been able to verify if mine is this same design (it's in FL and I'm in IL at the moment) but if so this clearly shows what I need to do and how to easily do it.
Very helpful video! I'd just like to add that you should definitely do the back two shocks first! The back side of the drum is much heavier and if your replacements are a little bit shorter than the originals it's a huge pain.
First of all, thank you for this video, I just replaced the shocks, that middle part doesn’t bounce anymore, however, during the spin cycle it’s still hits against the machine and moves around, do you have a video on what that could be?
This actually worked for me I’m an HVAC contractor I do a lot of DIY projects my maintenance on my cars watching this video I knew it would be something I could do but I appreciate the video. It only took me 20 minutes and I tested it and the things back spinning perfectly like new, it was violent rock the whole washing machine around and it was those spring rods. Mine were not the ones that were listed in the top there about possible model numbers it was the shorter ones, but I got them out of Amazon for 30 bucks 20 minutes of my time in my washer is running like new again so appreciate the video.
Wish I found out sooner- cause I went and bought a new washer- now I'm banging my head against the wall just like the old washer- but thank you all the same
Hi, watched your video here months ago. Fantastic. Ordered the strut parts from your link. After a month later it started doing the same thing and is now worse than ever. Obviously the struts aren't the only problem. What is the other solutions? There must be something else to help the balance and control the banging.
Wait, have you followed the Calibration? There is a service technician manual inside the chassis. You need to calibrate your washer every time you replace the motor, suspension, etc.
hello i already replaced the spring rods for my washer and its still spinning violently could it be the bearings on the washer i read that the amana washers have been having problems with it do you have a video on replacing the bearings?
I have same model my issue it does shake sometimes not always 🙃 Do u think need to be balanced instead of changing rod's since it does only sometimes shakes ,Thank you for ur time.
I replaced the shocks and machine still kinda shimmys when spins and doesnt completly spin clothes dry enough unless i reset to drain spin cycle. Machine looks just like one in video. Can you tell me why, model number is ntw4650yqo amana. A video i watched showed a spring on back shock that slipped over rod and hooks to tub. Not sure if was on both back shocks. I didnt see any springs and would of had to remove to get shock out.
Thought This May Help Some Of You. With Mine, I Had No Side Access And Less Than 3 Foot In Front, Because Of The Dryer. Really Thought I'd Have A Hard Time, But After Installing The First Two Rods, Then Unlocking The Back Two, I Tilted The Washer Backwards, Again Just To Look...,Sure Enough, I Could Pull The Old Rod's, At An Angle And Install The New One's. Those Dome Looking Washer/Boots Above The Spring, Are Just A Catch Or Hanger, For Holding The Rod's In The Hole. Also, I Just Used Five Strip's Of Half Inch Masking Tape, On The Lid. Never Had To Unhook Anything, Other Than, Unplug The Power Cord. Shoot , I Had This Done In 30 Minute's. I've Watched Other Video's And They Make A Mountain Out Of A Mole Hill. lol Thanks For The Video Here.
I just did this on a ntw4516fw1 Amana. Filled drum up and it weighed to the ground. Don't know if rods are wrong or springs defective. But laundry is piling up. Drum receiver is not broken and new bushings for j hook. Ugghhh
In all my years, I've NEVER had a washing machine like this or do this. I never even knew there where shocks in them. I always fix my own appliances, but the last washer began to leak water wall over the place. I wasn't messing with it, after fixing my electric dryer for ten bucks, when the repairman wanted several hundred. It was just the heating element, geez. A multimeter told me that. I digress. This Amana was given to me, and was only about a yr. or less old. My father bought it for my brother and his wife when they got their own apartment. They moved home after the yrs lease was up (dad was terminally ill, and mom paralyzed) SO, naturally a free almost new washer I wasn't turning down or complaining, but this banging the side and front walls out is just plum nuts. Now I didn't want to work on anything. My husband is now terminally ill, and I just don't have time. I'm thinking I just might be fixing it, if I can find shocks for it. BUT, it's a small tub. I've only ever had industrial sized washer and dryers b/c we have King Size bed and lots of throw blankets. You can't fit anything into 3.4 cubit foot drum. I end up doing 10 loads of laundry, and riding the washer like it's a bucking bronco. I'm done with it. When something breaks around here, everything breaks I swear. I really hope this is as easy as it looks. Love to thank you for the video. You explained things well. This seems to be a common problem with this brand. I would NEVER BUY AMANA. EVER.
I replaced the shocks, it fixed the issue for about a month, then same issue, making me think there's an underlying issue causing the shocks to break. Any ideas? Time for a new washer?
Hi! We are on a mission to fix our washer, but I have a question that I can't find an answer to. Our washer was been bouncing around for months 9we should have fixed it sooner). It's now leaking a brown substance . I thought it was from being dirty, so I took off the fabric softener dispenser and cleaned it well. I did a washer cleaning cycle, and the brown liquid was back. It seems to be coming from the agitator. Is this grease from a bad bearing, transmission failure, or something else? Thank you very much for your video.
I always have water in my Amanda washer I was told from the previous owner it’s used to balance the machine ? It works fine nothing wrong but every time I move the wash bowl tub I can her and feel there water ? It does have a mild odor smell
I have this exact washer and have this problem. The drum slams around during the spin cycle on ever wash. I was going to buy a new washer, even though I cant afford it right now. Thank you for this video, this just saved me a ton of money! I cant wait to make this repair! Thank you!
Hi there, question, are the rods on the Amazon link you have compatible w Amana NTW4516W3? I’ve never fixed or tried to fix a washer before n I don’t want to buy the wrong rods. Thank goodness for your video 🙏🏻 fr! I hope they are, otherwise I would be hand washing my clothes. Again thx for the ur video 😇
We plan to try this fix first but it seems my inner and outer tubs are flopping inside each other. Especially the inner tub flops to one side and is not sitting up straight like yours. Is this another problem?
@@DIYRepairsNow It wasn't the problem my washer has but I watched it anyway. It was a great presentation of a repair for anyone with that problem. Butch
What about the corner springs? I notice that these were missing from the drum. There should be four to stabilize the drum...may not need to replace the shocks. The little springs are a cheap little oart.
Clothes are coming out dirty after the cycle it seems the agitator is not spinning..I already replaced the actuator and the dogs..any idea what it could be?
