In this DayZ Beginners Guide Tutorial Video, I show you how to solve the problem of vehicles purchased from the Dr Jones Trader Mod disappearing when their owners walk away from them, or after a server restart.
The fix is to edit all of the vehicles "lifetime" value to a much longer value, I used 2592000.
List of vehicles to modify as of update 1.18:

hey scalespeeder my problem is that the cars that i buy from the trader disappear 1 or 2 days after i buy it and i set the lifetime exact like you no matter if its a normal or a modcar after 1 or 2 days or 1 or 2 server restarts it is gone but just the cars that i bought from the trader the other ones are fine why please help me hahah

I've done this, and any vehical I spawn in as an admin or even find then start using still ends up vanishing after a while

everything is still vanishing either after relog or restart. I have set all the modded and even unmodded items for whatver i use to a lifetime of at least 30 days but in less than 30 minutes its gone, sometimes quicker. Wish they would just make a quick simple mod that would just fix all of this

Offroad_02 is still despawning from trader. It takes a few hours but it does despawns

I have a new Dayz server and it’s my first time adding mods..I added this mod recently but on the new 1.19 update I changed the lifetime of all vehicles but cars still despawn as soon as u log out and log back in do you think anything has changed to this fix for despawning with the new update?

I'm seeing the same. I use MuchCarKey and if you activate and lock the car it sticks around for the correct amount of time. If someone spawns a car and doesn't IMMEDIATELY use a key on it...the vehicle spawned from Trader vanishes on next server restart :/

So I read that lifetime is reset at interaction. So, if that is acurate, then that would theoretically mean that I could set the lifetime value to a week. If a user does not interact with the vehicle in a week, then it would despawn. Thta seems logical to me. Has anyone tested this??

We've had instances on our server of vehicles that are set for two weeks, using this technique parked on flat ground not near anything, no damage, parts all pristine just despawning as the player walks away.

@@Krustenfresser nope i have the exact same thing, our .xml files have set the lifetime for all vehicles to above 3 million seconds or in other words more than a month. yet after a server restart or a crash or even when just being away for even just 5 seconds the cars are gone

@@milestaylor6187 in short, the issue is server stability, our cars were getting flung whenever the server shut down forcully or on scheduled downtime. I know this because i found one of my vechicles out beside a random road some 1.5 kilometers away from where it was when the shutdown happened, (by that point i had spent 3 hours driving around the map looking for spare parts to fix up my newly bought replacement truck) still had all of my items and storage utilities inside of it, scrapped it for parts and left it there to rot. to be fair the only thing you can do to try and prevent it to the best of your ability is to ask for the downtime schedules and make sure you step out of your vehicle or park it safely 2 minutes before then so as not to risk it coliding with the ground and getting flung miles away.

I added the m1025 to my trader but it's only spawning in with 3 wheels...also my cars in the world spawn in stripped, even though I've modded the event and spawnabletypes files to make them spawn complete. I've even validated them. Not sure if the Dr Jones mod is affecting this..any ideas?

I added 1 extra wheel to fix the wheel problem... recheck your events.xml and cfgspawnabletypes.xml

since 1.19 the wheels are applied in reverse order from previous versions...so in 1.19 the trunk/boot gets the first wheel. As Lonnie mentioned below...the best fix seems to be to spawn a 4 wheel vehicle with 5 wheels

Mate, i saw your videos twice of the same with this lifetime. But this does not work mate. I have cars that aren't in the type.xml because they don't spawn on the server, they only can buy from trader!!! Get it??? It's not in the type.xml I don't want that the better cars spawn on the map. So this does not work with trader cars. If they not in the type.xml, then they do not have a lifetime either, because they not in the type.xml. And if I still put the cars in to type XML, then I put the nominal to zero because i don't want that these cars spawn on the map. So if it's nominal 0 it means that none of these cars will spawn in on the map so have no point to put the lifetime on anything because it only applies for the spawned in cars. But if the nominal is set to zero, then the lifetime applies to the zero car. So this doesn't work only with items that have the nominal higher than zero! Because we all know zero is zero so if you put the lifetime of nothing into the type xml, than it wil be the lifetime of nothing, and what is the lifetime of nothing??? Yes mate, It's nothing. Like if I put the lifetime up to 3000 than it will still be 3000 for nothing so. It will count the lifetime of nothing. Because the real counting begins at 1, you can't count nothing. If you're in a class with none students you're not going to go there and HHH I am counting nothing. It's not a such thing as counting how long nothing will be there before it turns into nothing. Nothing have no value, something without value can't be count, it still is nothing!!! So this does not work.

I would still put the cars in your types put the nominal to 0 so they don't spawn in and make the lifetime to triple or double to what he has put in this video so 5184000 which is double the amount and is 60 days. Note the reply underneath by @sand_riders 3888000 which is the standard lifetime for vehicles when you add the types, sometimes this works longer than it should so wondering if there is a limit on them and bugs out the lifetime if you put more than this time.. anyways your cars wont spawn in but the lifetime will still apply to those bought in the trader. Hope that makes sense...

Don’t think you can change what you start with. You can however make a custom spawn of a backpack where you want to spawn but you’d have to prob alter your spawn points to a single place or put those items at every spawn point

You would need to create an event using a backpack that doesnt spawn anywhere else in the world, in the spawnabletypes.xml youd need to specify what loot you want in that backback. In the event the child of the event would be the same backpack used, you then would need to create spawns in the cfgeventsspawn.xml (thats the easy bit since you just copy the playerspawnpoints) and the event names would match that of the event you created in the events.xml.

I will add that since this method is based on an event it doesnt always trigger when it should, also keep in mind that the lifetime of the backback in the types.xml must be kept short so the empty backpacks get cleaned up.

@@zR_Munro ​ @itz munroo should i recopy the player spawn points exactly in the cfgeventspawns? im also getting duplicated folders of events.xml,cfgeventspawns and cfgspawnable types in my db folder im just noticing so maybe those are messing with it..originally just putting a space in between the events and matching both events.xmls worked but now it hasnt been

@@zR_Munro and what do you suggest setting the lifetime to? because i have nominal set to 0 in types i didnt even think of the lifetime of it being a factor
