How to FIX The Anime - Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Discussion 

The issue is, that people have become used to the seasonal format, wherein the story usually gives the viewers some "high" by doing a lot of action (or ecchi, let's be real) to then "satisfy" them for the next year or so, until the next season drops, repeating the same process again. The thing is, that MT just ISN'T a story that has a seasonal format. It is a bigger narrative, that DEMANDS patience from its audience. But, man, will that patience pay off! Regardless, the fact, that today's audiences have the wrong expectations, because they think, that MT is constructed and written like all the other isekai - WHICH IT ISN'T - is the real issue. If people bear in mind, that MT is more akin to bigger fantasy stories, that take a longer time to have narrative payoffs and/or big action sequences, than to a typical modern isekai, they will realize how pointless the criticism of "not much happening in season 2" actually is.

I think the reason they had part 1 part 2 in season 1 was because they didn't have enough time to finish some episode idk if it's actually true I just heard rumours of it I think the reason they put another of these parts thing is because the next arc is the turning point 3 and all major happening that really give a lot of impact to the story. I think giving them a time would make it more better than part 1 Though one thing I hate about it is the fact that each part only have 12 episode if they could have at least put 15 or more episode because I feel like these limits are dragging them down and also the reason they had to skip some contents in the LN

Season 2 for me was great but I'm extremely bias because I've been watching supplementary content on the side from You, AniNews, Otaku Spirit and many others. I will say it felt very slow in the University Arc but that might be because I watched it weekly, I don't know if my opinion would change if I binged the season. I don't think Studio Bind could produce a long form anime with the quality of animation they've been producing. I think they could try doing what White Fox did with Re: Zero, making episodes longer, episodes being almost 30 minutes and going back to skipping the Opening or playing it in the background while furthering the plot. And Yeah they should release 2 cour seasons without any splits. I'm kinda iffy on the idea of revisiting the content they skipped in OVAs like they did with Eris in season 1 because it fucks up the watch order of the series for new viewers and when binging the series..... and some people might unknowingly skip those OVAs because they don't know that they exist.

I do wonder if this would have work as a normal anime.

I think it would've been better if the anime diverted from the Original story by showing that:- (1) Rudeus learnt these Magic from Zenith-Greyrat in Bueina Village:- (a) Intermediate-Rank => Healing & Detox magic (b) Elementary-Rank => Divine & Barrier Magic (2) Rudeus should've learnt or developed these skills in the Great forest:- (a) Howling Magic from Gustav (b) Sleep-Magic from Geese (c) Release Mana & perform Magic from Feet (d) Flight Magic (3) Rudeus learnt these skills in his Solo-Adventuer days:- (a) Disturb Magic (b) Howling Magic (c) Chantless incantation for Heal, Detox, Barrier & Divine magic but he shouldn't be able to self-improve these Magic. (d) Release Mana & perform Magic from Hands, Feet & Mouth. (f) Flight Magic (g) Elemental Sense Magic => Sesimic, Hydro, Thermal & Air based senses. (h) Envelope his entire body & Surrounding in Elementary Rank Barrier as an alternative to Touki. (i) Sleep Magic. (4) Rudeus learn North-God & Water-God style from fellow Adventurers like Solat upto Intermediate-Rank, making him Intermediate-Rank in all 3-Sword styles without Touki. (5) Rudeus's fighting style should be about Enveloping himself with Barrier-Magic & using Sesimic Sense to get an idea of his Surroundings at 360° & in case of danger, attack the threat with Earth Spears/Lances. (6) Rudeus's go to Attack Spells should be:- (a) Sesimic Sense + Earth-Lance & these should be casted from his Feet. (b) Stone Cannon (c) Water-Gun => Pressurized Water that can even cut Rocks. (d) Wind-Slash => should be able to easily cut normal Trees. (7) With a combo of above skills & his Eye-of-Foresight, Rudeus should be able to easiyl defeat a King-Rank Swordsman like Ghislaine or 2 Saint-Rank Swordsman like Gallius Cleaner in a CQB situation.

I feel like vol 7 could have been an ep longer and 8 and 9 an ep shorter

4:10 Bro... what are you even saying? People think season 2 is boring and your solution is to make 6 episodes per book? 4 of those episodes would just be exposition or slice of life or talking and that was what the mongoloids were whining about in the first place.

SPOILERS I really enjoyed season 2 but something was off ever since he got to the school... it did feel like nothing happened at all. Not that I don't want character development. Not looking forward to Eris' future return cause she is just gonna screw up his life and God I really hope he doesn't develop ED again after seeing her Not to mention that they completely threw out the "find Zenith" plot line. They just hand wave it away with Elinalize saying that she chilling as an adventurer in the labyrinth city... I was looking forward to that adventure 😢
