Mee too, 2015 nissan sentra. But it isnt a seal problem, they didnt even bother to put a rubber seal on the tail lights and the gap is about 1/8 in all the way around. That gap is sirectly in the water channeled feom the trunk

I’m glad I found this as I too have the leaky right taillight on my 1986 e23 L7. I bought a new factory gasket however I’m not so confident of the dry factory seal since the metal mating surface was gently damaged from a slight impact. I recently had all the carpet liner cleaned and dyed so I want to prevent anymore leaks. I will be doing this to my tail.

I got my right taillight replaced last year at Nissan because I kept having issues with the car loosing power and they said it was because of water in the taillights. Paid about $300 and never had the issue again but then i recently started to realize when I wash my car and open the trunk to get my rags out, there’s water on my trunk mat

On my 02 Honda Accord the lens leaks fills the inside of taillight with water and drains out past the socket. But then when it does that the silver paint coating on the inside peals off and turns black. It's an easy fix unless you wanna repaint that coating, then the lens needs removing. This one here is easy to fix compared to mine.

Great Video Sir, quick question, I i 2018 have Lincoln MKX could the water under the passenger sear and back sear also come from truck leak ? There's apparently no sign of water there either but the water is under the carpet only.
@JustFixIt99
@JustFixIt99 Год назад
The water in the rear seat floor under my carpet came from the trunk. Another common spot that could be your leak is up under the dash. Often water drains plug and water Weill leak back in through the HVAC ducking. It will leak down under the carpet in the front and run to the back.

Good instructional video. My only question is, what about when it comes time to changing a light bulb? Does this hinder that in any way?
@JustFixIt99
@JustFixIt99 2 года назад
That would depend on the design of your tail light. Most are changed from the inside without removing the light to do so. Obviously if you have to remove the light to change the bulbs you may not want to fix it this way.
@DLBlckwl

@@JustFixIt99 Oh. Well you're right then. It was appearing to me like your sealing of the unit prevented easy access to the bulbs. But you got me thinking more clearly now. I do access the bulbs from the inside without taking off the fixture. 🤦‍♂️ Thanks for the reply. 😄

Any high grade silicone should work. Alternatively acoustical sealant May work well, although it would be very messy. You want something that won’t fully harden.

Regarding the rear light rubber, does it have anything to do with the exhaust smell entering the cabin?
@JustFixIt99
@JustFixIt99 8 месяцев назад
There are no absolutes in life, but I’ve never heard of bad tail light seals causing exhaust fumes to enter the cabin. That’s almost always caused by an exhaust leak somewhere in the system.

If u silicone between the seal and body and them later on have to remove tail light for some reason, will it break the seal since its stuck onto the body?

Lexel is hard to remove. Regular clear silicone would be easier if you have taillights that you will need to take out in the future. Lexel is nice because it is permanent, and stays flexible. I have also used regular clear silicone with great success.
