I’m glad you found some valid theories in my firemoss fueled April Fools video! Thanks for the shout out!

Thank you! Even fire-moss fueled you can make a convincing argument.

That was my theory as well on why he pulled spren to the physical realm. We have always been told that spren can't break oaths. Ishar wants to replace heralds with spren so that an Unending Oathpact can be formed. But the mistake is, he is forgetting how the cosmere works. Everything is perfect in the SR, which gets filtered into the cognitive and then the physical. These filterings add imperfections that create a person. Since spren are made of investiture they can't break oaths. But the moment an honorpren can live while being pulled into the physical realm, Ishar will find to his horror that Even physical spren, made of normal matter can break oaths. Because thats the point. Honor only matters if you can break it. Stormfather thinks of himself spren as superior to humans in terms of honor. But thats not how honor works. A promise that can be broken but isnt, is a promise well kept.

You're the second person to bring up the whole free will angle to Honor thus far. And you're absolutely right! Sanderson seems to be building up to another big "his story doesn't have a moral" moment. I'm just along for the ride.

@@havewissmart9602 I guess that's more of Wit's line, that his stories don't have morals.

I think that’s the most convincing theory i’ve heard for what ishar was doing with the spren. it goes along with what I think will be the emotional climax of book 5, that dalinar will be faced with a choice: to do something wrong and terrible to save humanity, or to make an honorable choice and condemn roshar to odium. I think the bondsmith unchained hints at something dalinar could become - we’ve seen him break his oath with the stormfather once, when he summoned him as a blade to use the oathgate. iirc the stormfather was shocked that dalinar could do that, and wasn’t able to stop him? so I think dalinar absolutely could bind spren to braise against their will, I don’t think the stormfather could stop him if he tried.

Oh yes, I think in broad strokes you're right about the duel. And if Shallan had some surgebinding powers from Testament who was dead, what sort of surgebinding could Dalinar still do if (when) the Stormfather goes deadeye.

I thought that you analysis on why ishar is trying to manifest spren in their own bodies in the Physical realm was great! But this fuels my biggest concern. Syladin.... joking, but could you imagine what may happen to Syl if ishar gets her and forms her into a physical body. She is the most human like spren. The bond connecting her even more to the physical realm. I feel like from what we have seen, Syl asking Dalinar to feel what Kaladin feels, and who did Dalinar send to get Ishar? Kaladin and Seth.

ooooh, great Syl theories. I feel like her character arc gets overshadowed so often by Kaladin's that we loose sight of her. Though she will be getting a video soon.

Book 6 big reveal Spren can indeed break their oaths Too bad we dont have Taln this time,if your theory is true. But i think Ishars experiments are towards him being a fully physical cognitive shadow inorder to pick up the shards...."i will become a god of gods..Adonelsium reborn."

Have you heard the latest preview chapter from C2E2? (spren's ability to break oaths may be implicit in Mayalaran's choice)

You keep blowing my mind with these crazy but seemingly probable theories. After wind and truth you need to go through all your videos and make what I got right, what I got wrong video.😉

If stormlight uniquely grants body formation, how do the fused inflict bodily torture on Braise, if they are disembodied spren?
@MeMySkirtandI

Maybe the Fused have their original bodies on Braise?

We know cognitive shadows can feel pain (Secret History) I suppose it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine another cognitive being like Spren could hurt another.

@@parkermm Oh yeah, I have yet to add Secret History to my internal arcanum. (I've read it, just not devoured it repeatedly until I can regurgitate its secrets) Feeling pain, is different than very graphic details of physical torture. Now I have to go back and study some more.

I wounder if an oath pack can be formd with creatures that can not change since most oaths get their power from the possibility of them beings broken. So if spren can not break on oath then will any oath be powerful enough to hold back the darkness. Ture I bases this on media out side the Strom light archives, but I do wounder.
@MeMySkirtandI
@MeMySkirtandI 5 месяцев назад
That is still an excellent insight! As I think the deeper truth Sanderson is going for here is that free will and the ability to change is a blessing not a curse, even if it carries with it the opportunity for great destruction.
