Thanks so much for taking the time to make this detailed video! Best one specific to Armstrong gear. I’ve been struggling with my Dart 140 and just realized I’ve been sanding the wrong edge. I kept thinking had it perfect take it out and it’s worse than ever hahahaha. Gonna get it dialed today ;)
Wow got it 90% better! Just need to tune it a little more. This session only one speed about 10% of the time it whistled. Compared to previous session where 90% of time it was howling and even vibrating under my back foot! I also chopped the tips as per Oskar Johannsen recommendation. Really nice feel more bite in the turns. I think the remaining hum is likely from needing to fine tune the tips. Hope to catch a session with you in Kailua 🤙🏽 thanks again!
@@maxnuccio2440 Awesome. Yea, I’m pretty confident if you work on it a bit more using this technique you’ll get it perfectly quiet. Are you out Kailua side? Hit me up on IG if you wanna do a downwinder or something. Been doing boat escort downwinders too. 😎🤙
That seems strange. I wonder how long Armstrong have been using prepreg carbon for? When you do a hand layup it's hard to control the loose fibre edges to keep them near the mould edges but prepreg can be cut and laid very precisely, shouldn't be making the trailing edge fat.
I think a big factor is liability. They don't want to make the foil too sharp and risk more injured riders and a getting sued. Like a lot of equipment......tuning and tweaking is required for best results. 😎🤙
what set up is used with the 525? kite foiling or wing? what's the mast length and your weight? this is the first 525 I've heard of. thanks for posting
@@flightjunkie808 Wow! I would neverEva come to that conclusion? That blows my mind! We are the same weight & I am on a 1200cf/85m/232/60fuse for kiting in 10-16mph in SoCal. I thought I would need at least a 1550+ for winging. What wind conditions and how big is your board to ride the 525? where at/wing size too?
@@Fereday Hi. HA foils, if you haven't ridden them are a bit tricky. But, once you get the hang of it they are really special. Much less drag. The 525 seems to have a stall speed of around 12 mph. My board is a custom 6' 87L board. The trick is to do a "runway" type takeoff. You pump the wing and board to get up enough speed on the water before attempting to come up on foil. I was able to get on foil in 15 kts of wind with the 6.5m A-wing. But it was a lot of work. In 20 kts the 525 was fun with the 4.5m A-wing! 😎🤙
@@flightjunkie808 Hey, that is amazing! We don't get over 20 mph where I live too often, unfortunately. my buddy is on the 925 for kiting and he is about 210lbs. He loves it. We have a 5m wing and plenty of front wings, but the only board is a 8 foot sup. He actually bought a 2400 to use for the winging on the SUP. I have yet to give it a go, because of the lack of wind. So glad to know what is possible. My goal was to get 1 board that I could use for SUP/winging, but unsure of how small I could go to use for both sports? Appreciate all your information and insights. Where are you located ?
Not sharp. That's the nice thing about the rounded edge. If you find any sharp spots just sand them down with a rounding motion to take the edge off. 🤙
