something good to know if u have steam installed and a game file get corrupted while updating then that can break your system. so what i would do is uninstall the game with the corrupt file. you can tell if it’s corrupt if it sits a 100% download but it never finishes. so uninstall the game through steam or windows uninstaller.
Omg thanks man the same thing happened with me today and I was wondering what was wrong and why my pc won't shut down I uninstalled all my games and steam and now it shuts down properly
I flipped the switch to my power supply to off and let it set for 5 minutes. Problem solved. I tried all the other power management and driver things first. The simple solution was all I needed. Lol. Thank you!
None of these worked and the safe mode option froze my computer in the middle of it shutting down. My problem is that it gets to the point where the screen shuts off but the lights never go off and you can still hear the hard drive running. The only way to start it back up is to hold the power button down until it fully shuts off then turn it back on.
Theres actually no use of like unplugging the wire for the pc u can just hold the power button untill the ps shuts down, then after it shuts down just turn it on again and shut it down. If it shuts down normally fully then ur good
Thanks solutions number two, now is a wait and see… Also just wondering what this does Step 1: Open the Settings menu > System > About. Step 2: Choose Related Links and tap on Advanced System Settings. Step 3: Under the System Properties sections, go to Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings. Step 4: Then, uncheck the Automatically restart choice under System Failure and press OK.
Non of the mentioned remedies (except the last one that haven't tried yet) worked for me. With the SFC check I obtained no errors. I haven't tried the Wonder share Recoverit software yet. I will try to do this. My laptop keeps restarting when I shut down.
I’ve started having the same issue recently as well and I don’t know why it happened last week and I think it’s because of a random background program but I have no idea
I have a different problem. when I click the start button the menu stays open for a second then it closes by itself so I can't even get to the power settings unless I right click
I will have to try this tomorrow, i am already really stressed and ended it just cutting down the power, last windows update give me this problem, the pc shut down normally but the fan of the cpu keeps running, and time to time the red light of the cpu being use turns on, i don't know why they give us problems and more requirements for things we don't use instead of improving performance, i am really tired...
Really appreciate your video. It was very, very helpful and fixed my computer's problem. Your technical solutions are working for the Windows 11 version as well.
Using the balanced power plan, display off 10 min and computer sleep 15 minutes but recently it stays on and doesn't go to sleep. Is this what your video addresses?
I recently had this problem, but also could not run anything, e.g. Command Prompt, as admin. And right click on anything in File Explorer just resulted in an infinite 'busy' cursor. Also, I could not log into OneDrive - the login just hung. In the end, I removed a USB stick that I was using for backups, and the PC immediately shut down without me doing anything! I rebooted, and all the problems had gone away. So, add faulty USB device to the list of things to check!
Hi there, thank you for your question! While it's uncommon for a USB device to cause such widespread issues, disconnecting the device and restarting the computer can often help reset the system configuration and resolve related problems. Checking USB device connections and functionality is advisable when troubleshooting computer issues. Additionally, updating drivers and scanning for malware can further contribute to resolving any persistent issues.
Yeah, reading the comments, that "Fast Shutdown" power option thing was a buggy mess for a lot of people, me included. Its neither "Fast" nor "Shuts down". They should change that option's name for "Faceplant" or something more accurate.
Don't understand, as of tonight it just randomly didn't shutdown, didn't see it try to, went off to do something, when I tried to open the windows shutdown, nothing would open, folders onnpc would, but task manager or anything for Windows wasn't, then it froze?
Hi there, thank you for your question. If the LED on your laptop remains on after shutdown, it could be due to various reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try: Power Drain: Shut down your laptop. Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery if possible. Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power. Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn on your laptop. Check Power Settings: Make sure your laptop is set to shut down completely when you choose the shutdown option. Go to your power settings and check the behavior for the power button and lid close actions. Update Drivers: Ensure that your graphics and chipset drivers are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause power-related issues.
Hi there, thank you for your question! It isn't a permanent fix I would recommend trying to scan and repair your drives and see if any errors occur. If that issue does come back it might be a more serious issue that might need professional help.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If your computer is working fine with those methods used then I would recommend keeping it the same and not turning it back.
Well my issue was something different but I’m sure it’s in the settings for others. Now I use the insider program for windows 11 and about a week ago I was messing with the settings and changed it from dev(recommended) to canary Channel which is almost like a beta test before it’s released on the dev channel. Now windows did performed several updates after I switched it. I basically watched and followed the same things mention in this video but at the end I just reverted back to the previous version I had of the insider program without loosing or backing any files
Hi there, thank you for your question! It's good to hear that you were able to revert back to the previous version of the Insider Program without losing any files. Switching to the Canary Channel can indeed introduce new features and changes that are still in the testing phase, and as such, may not be as stable as the ones in the Dev Channel.
thank you very much i had consulted 30+ websites and even had microsoft support help me out but your video did it for me at option 2 (i had quickboot disabled but that was all disabling all of them did the trick)
your video is super explanatory but could not solve my problem, please can you help me out? my la[top will power up and boot to screen after you have clicked SHUTDOWN, how do i fix this issue?
