If you lose the tiny spring, the white tip replacements that come in the base stand with this pen have suitable replacements inside of them, and are easy to slide apart with a little force. You just have to very carefully apply the pressure and slide the pen back together so the slightly smaller spring dosen't slide sideways.
@@bsigns1935 i'm a little late, but in case you or anyone else still needs this info -- it seems like as long as you have a thinner/longer spring, the shorter/larger one doesn't really matter. my pen is old and i regularly have to take it apart and refit it to get it working, and at some point i must have lost the larger spring -- i panicked when i noticed, but my eraser still works fine!
You are an angel. My stylus exploded on a break from class as I was trying to change the tip. I was panicking about how to get through teaching my class without it. Your video was perfect, and your calm demeanor got me off the cliff. thank you!
You good sir, just saved us 70 usd plus shipping to get a replacement It's people that you who come to the rescue with these youtube tutorials who are the real GOAT
Thanks for this. My 2 year old son took off with my pen and when I grabbled it from him,it came loose and the springs popped out.You sir are doing God's work. Wacom probably hates you right now since you saved a ton of people from buying a new one.
Really appreciated this excellent instructional video. I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere, on the other side of the planet, trying to cut a film and my pen falls apart. Your video has saved the day! Thank you very much!
This was really helpful when my pen became really wobbly. Turns out the barrel near the eraser portion shifted a few millimeters upward that was causing the whole board inside to wiggle because of the extra space. Your tutorial helped me understand how the barrel locks into the pen body. Thank you!
Saved my life. I'm a few days away from a convention. And my pen exploded in my hand. Lost one of the small pieces, sadly. But I put it back together without it, and the eraser STILL works. So thank-you again~
So helpful, and very much appreciated! my pen popped apart unexpectedly as I was pulling it out of my bag, and lord only knows where the springs ended up. Especially appreciate your note about the very subtle groove inside the pen barrel that has to line up with the board in order for it to go back together! That one had me stumped.
After 10 years, I dropped my pen for the first time (to my memory). For just a few months now, I have a thick carpet underneath my table, otherwise the pen would have landed on wood. I assumed that carpet must have prevented anything from happening. Nope. A drop of ~70 cm (~27 inches), on thick carpet managed to dislodge the buttons on the side, as well as the small springs on the eraser and both halves of the pen tube (just a little, though). Don't drop you pens, people! Especially on harder surfaces. This video helped me in making the eraser work again. Thanks!
You saved my day! When I was cleaning the stylus, I accidentally pulled it in two sections, Then I found that two small springs fell out and I didn't know where to install them!Thank you for your video and God bless you!
Gosh, thank you SO much! I was thinking about drawing and played with the pen, then WOOSH! the little springs fall out and the Pen fell into parts. Didn't even know, I could pull that whole back out, just use it for about 5 years now, lol! Thanks, this video is a lifesaver! :D
My brother just took my pen apart, and I was freaking out because I couldn't put it back together, it wouldn't click back. I was worried I'd have to buy a new one. But I found your video, and took my pen apart and resembled it again. The problem was the springs got moved, causing it not to shut properly. Thank you so so much for this video, you saved me money and put my mind at ease.
I accidentally pulled mine apart while fidgeting with it. Problem was, I was unable to click it back in. Thanks to a comment saying not to force it out, but to push it out from the eraser side, it worked. When I first bought my Wacom, then pen always had a loose eraser. By that, I mean it sometimes fell into the pen top. I thought that was normal since it still worked. Anyway, thank you so much! Your video helped me with my eraser, which I didn't even know was ''broken'' in the first place, and it saved me from buying a new pen which I cannot afford.
Wow, thank you so much, I freaked out when the pen accidentally came apart a few minutes ago. I really managed to put the two springs in place at the first try! Amazing!
you just saved my life, i opened mine for funsies in the middle of working on a big piece and coudnt get the back part in again. i'm so so glad you mentioned the little grooves, that's the problem i was having
Thank you for this video! I almost had a heartattack when my pen fell apart... I will be forever thankful that I could fix it, following your instructions, because I would not dare to experiment with it.
Thank you so much for this very well explained video! My pen was acting erratic in Ps and kept going to brush settings / right click each time I tried painting. Or would just make a flat circle of paint. So I knew something was off about the buttons... my son had recently tried treating it like a real pen and tried opening it. and after 8 yrs of me using it.. it just came open in his tiny hands!!! So perhaps that day the buttons probably shifted. This video helped me placed the buttons back. Also props on you for having such good camera quality for HD quality.
You're an absolute star - thank you soooo much for this video! I too, was in the midst of a deadline and the pen 'imploded'. Woo Hoo happiness, it's now as good as new! Many thanks indeed.
Thank you so much, I was just cleaning my Wacom pen and it simply fell apart. I began to get nervous, but with your help I've been able to put it back together easily😀
thank you so much, I was playing around with the pen when I accidentally pulled it apart, and the two small springs landed on the floor, so after I found them I didn't know where they were supposed to be, but this vid helped me. God bless you.
you're a godsend. was working on a gift for a friend and it came apart while i was drawing and i was so close to panicking before i found your video. thank you!!
My pen fell apart after picking it up last week after two years of use and I freaked for a bit. Thank you sir for making this video and helping me put it back together! :3
Thank you very much! This video helped me out a lot. The part about the eraser was super helpful. I wasn't expecting those springs at all. I have a UX21 Wacom stylus. For some reason, the pen nib would go into the body of the stylus, and the eraser would go out ( and vice versa). So I took the pen apart and put it back together. This fixed the problem. Now everything is in place.
If your chipboard is stuck on the upper barrel and can't pull it out with your hands, use something thin and sturdy to GENTLY push it off from the eraser side (BE CAREFUL OF THE TINY SPRINGS THAT WILL FALL OFF) I used the other end of a thin wooden watercolor brush. Don't forcefully grab the chipboard to pull it out with your hand because you might damage its sensitive parts.
many years ago I wedged it so hard in the barrel, I had to cover the board with a small cleaner cloth and use tweezers to gently wiggle and pull it out. It took time and effort, but thankfully it didn't get damaged.
@@XxBloodied_Lambxx I had this as well, the chipboard was stuck in the upper barrel because it wasn't in the little slides of it. The upper barrel was a little cracked open because of that and I made some extra incisions with a stanley knife to make some more wiggle room/ kept the knife in the crack and twisted the plastic a bit. It was a bit more brute force to pull it out though, but my pen still works! I did damage the buttons, but they were already pretty unreliable to work with on my pen.
You have to be very careful when pulling the pen apart. If it resists the front pick up coil is most likely stuck in the barrel of the pen and you will sever the wires to the pick up. Hence, the pen will no longer work. This takes a very delicate soldering and insulating technique to get back together, and I would not recommend it to someone inexperienced in say surface mount soldering. It can be done though.
Hello! This is the only place that ive seen someone mention soldering and thats what i need to do to fix mine, as the pen fell apart and then got stuck. Im curious to know if there's somewhere i can go to find resources for that? Thank you for this comment!
I slightly pulled up on my pen cause the nib was stuck and POP! the whole pen fell apart I went searching for any parts not even knowing I was looking for springs! After I found the springs I found this video. What a specific issue, god i love the internet! Thank you sir!
Thank you so much for that video! That little button thing on the circuit board came out of my pen after a nasty fall. Without your video I would have never guessed where it belonged at!
Thank you! My nib was going inside the pen and I couldn’t put pressure on it thinking it will break the pen. Or the nib would be stuck inside the pen. I saw this video. I was a bit worried as I was doing it because inside the pen is so delicate XD but once I reassembled my pen, the nib was normal again! You are a life saver
OMG!!! You are a live saver! No really, I was having the worst day possible; broke my finger, had to raise money for a failing pen because the nib was slipping out every time but just now my eraser was stuck in and I tried to fix it but I ended up pulling the pen 'till it opened. I thought I broke it so I tried to shove it back together but the circuit board got stuck. Then I found your vid, did what you did... now my pen is fixed! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I've had my Cintiq screen for over ten years - I've changed the nibs on this pen about a hundred times with thousands of hours of tablet usage, and there was never the slightest indication that this would or even *could* happen... until today, when the slightest buff with a dry cloth suddenly had the top spring off, the pen collapsing in my fingers, seemingly incapable of assembling back together, ever again! Much to my relief, thanks to this video, it's not an isolated experience... but I'd have had no clue there was even a spring in the pen to begin with, let alone *two tiny ones* that fit inside each other! Seriously, Wacom?! And of course, my tiniest spring had rolled under the Cintiq stand, which had to be fished out with a pair of tapered tweezers.... then eased into the only-fractionally-less-tiny spring with the dexterity of a Muppet, riding a crosstown bus, sitting over the motor. And then perch them on that nubbin at the top of the circuit-board, while you balance the half-assembled pen in one hand and try to piece together the rest of it! The lack of upkeep and maintenance on the pens, other than the nibs, up until this point had lured me into a false sense of security about the pen's stability; but even after a successful reassembly, a piece of black electrical tape ensures it won't happen again... even if this hasn't happened to you yet, I recommend the tape and save yourself the heartache now.
Thanks for this. The dual springs threw me, because I'd never taken the "eraser" plastic bit out before. BTW, an Exacto knife is a great way to maneuver the springs together and to pick up the srings an dplace them on the little nub, and the stand ais a great vertical hold to take advantage of to do so. And while your pen is disassembled, is a good time to use a can of compressed air to clean out the button area and the base of where the nib is inserted. I removed a ridiculous amount of dust from mine. Again, thanks for your video.
Thanks man! very useful! I'm so sick of these pen, I'm at the third one already... they're so fragile.... Thanks to you i fixed it myself. Thank again!
Thank you thank you thank you! I tried to get help from Wacom but they were so unhelpful and unknowledgeable. You saved me the extra expense to replace my pen. And your video is extremely clear and well done. So grateful to you.
@@hafeezk1 hey, I know no one will probably respond, but my pend broke apart, all except for the bottom (eraser) end. I've been trying to put it back together for about an hour, and I've come to realize the issue that that too much of the green inside was poking out for the top to go on right, and I can't get the bottom off; would you happen to have any tips for that?
@@XxBloodied_Lambxx If you can remove the green part by gently pushing it out from the eraser end, like with something thin like a chopstick, then reassemble it making sure the green part fit's into the grooves inside the end that might help. The bottom (eraser part) should slide onto the green chipboard easily.
@@hafeezk1 thank you (: I actually ended up tugging on it with just a bit extra force compared to how I was before (all be it very, very carefully), and that worked. Lost the tiny little springs, but that's a relatively minor inconvenience (though, that mixed with the lack of pen pressure that has decided to, as it sometimes does, crop up on my table is kinda driving me nuts, I had to work with both of those on my phone, so it's not the end of the world, just incredibly inconvenient.) Again, thank you a lot, though (:
Amazing. Thanks a million! Those two microscopic little springs freaked me out too...seeming to come from nowhere. Lucky they weren't lost. Now I can breathe a sigh of relief and finish my job!
ty so much!! i was looking online on how to fix my pen, a different model pen, and i didnt realise i can disassemble my pen and i just managed to fix it!!! ily so much!!! tytytyty!!
Thanks so much for this video... I accidentally got it open as well last time and I put it together shoving them all in... I was scared I broke it and the spring act funky afterwards... The tip always popped in and I need to press the eraser down to get it back out... It technically works but I can't do any pressures harder then half the scale and the top will pop in again... I suffered with it for a good few months and I was this close to buying a whole new pen untill I stumbled upon your video... I open it up refixed everything back now it's okay.... Thank you so much I save hundred over dollars 🥺☺️
Thank you very much! Accidentally I disassembled the pen and the little springs fall out and I didn't know how to assemble it back. So your video was really helpful.
Thank you SO MUCH. I thought I was going to need to buy a new one. I thought I had missing parts. Besides, the circuit board was stuck inside de cilinder and I did'nt want to pull it until I saw your video.
Thanks so much for this. I was mildly freaking out. I was partly sitting on it and when I pulled it out, it came apart & this evening's trouble began. The groove is the key. That super subtle groove. It slips right on once you align it, I thought I was going to snap the circuit board trying to force it back. That tiny spring, idk if I'll ever find that. I don't use the eraser either.
Hi, thank you for the info you shared. My pen is making multiple clicks when I try to drag and drop a folder or resize a photo in photoshop. The tiny rubber bridge under the clicking buttons has split. Seems like the rubber has become loose in years. I could not figure out how to solve the problem. Any ideas will be welcomed!
I just saved myself a lot of money (considering dollar is four times colombian peso) thanks to your video!! I was hopeless. This was so helpful!! You are my hero!!
hello, my wacon pen model is KP701E2, but the board is stuck at pen nib part (not the eraser part) that I can't pull it out because of that. In this case is it possible to pull it out in any way? It does seem like springs inside nip part are apart from where they are supposed to be.
I have a question. I recently got my first g tablet and right away there is a problem. I think the pen might came broken but i'm not sure. So, when I try to draw a line it interrupts and at times it doesn't draw at all, but the cursor always follows pen movements. Thank you in advance
Thank you very much for your tutorial...to me happend the same. I tried to clean my pen and it broke apart...I lost the bigger of the two springs..I hope it will work with only the small one ?! -Thank you !
My pen's small button, which activated the right click, had started going off at random times. I took the button and rubber housing off as you showed, saw there were some dead skin flakes here and there. Brushed it off, shaked it out, seem that did the trick! Guess one of the flakes was interfering, thank you!
