My 2002 is similarly done. I also changed the full lens housings (both sides), all bulbs, both ballasts and igniters, and the grand total was $260 in parts and less than tow hours of time. Fyi, you can get those plastic clips in bulk for literally a dollar a dozen. It had been 22 years since I saw new lenses and lights on my rig. I'd forgotten how pretty they were.
Thanks, Ballast or Igniter did the trick for me. I did the headlight bub WITHOUT taking the bumper off and it was a real pain on getting the security screw out (hours). Bulb was not the problem so I replaced the Ballast and Igniter and it works perfectly. Repair notes for others - I took the bumper off for the ballast repair and wish I had replaced the bulb doing it that way. The bumper is surprisingly easy to get on and off. It was actually easier to take off the bumper than it was to get the highlight cover security screw off.
Bro thank you soo much for your time and video. After waiting forever to find someone to remove my bumper and replace my balast, I did it myself from seeing your video. Thank you!
There is a video that shows you how to not take off the bumper and it works....I tried it but if your ballast needs replaced then you'll be needing to take that whole thing apart better than the shop though they charge you for three hours of labor so grab some intellectual friends and tackle the job with this video. Good luck. Btw im a girl and it's not that hard kinda fun to pull this car apart. Makes the guys do this face...😳😂😂😂
Out of all the videos I see on this. By far the best. Basic but very good. Can’t believe though all that work you did to change lights and such. Why don’t you replace the shocks on your hood. 🤣 way easier to do that than the lights.
I tried but I couldn't understand whatever you were trying to say because of the incessant music track. I know this is an older video but I'm offering my opinion anyway. I did find it easier to understand after I turned off the sound and just used the subtitles. Thanks,
You did a really great job with the video. It was easy to follow and understand. I will tackling this with my son this weekend on his 2005 Acura TL. Hopefully, this will fix the problem.
At first one of HIDs would randomly turn on when it wants to. Eventually both of them would turn on when they want to.. lolll flickering the head switch on and off numerous times just to get one or both HIDs on was annoying af.For the 04-06 TLs. Driving with just the inner fog lights was trash cause of visibility. So I decided to buy a set of ballasts to replace and that didn't seal the deal... ordered 2 igniters & still nope. But finally just bought a pair on amazon which came with new ballasts and used igniters and it finally worked ! Ahah but after taking of the bumper and headlight assembly so much, it made the removal process from 1hour to only 20 minutes
Thanks for the video! If you could put that camera on a tripod or similar and have every shot angled toward what you're talking about without having it move constantyl, that would be helpful for future videos. But, that would take a lot more positioning and maybe even editing, and I know that takes time. So, never mind. lol.
My driver side HID flickers, buzzes then shuts off. It also mixes with the turning signal, and my hi beams dont work too. I've replaced the igniter, didnt work, tried another ballast didnt work, tried another bulb didnt work. Any suggestions/thoughts? 2004 Acura TSX
hello I bought new light bulbs and when I turn on the lights the color are white how they suppose to look then they turn yellow. do u know what can be causing the issue ??
Hey, what problem were you having? I ask because I have the same model and year as you do and I'm having a problem. When I turn my lights on and turn them off to go into a store for a few minutes, I could come back to the car and attempt to turn my lights on, but they don't work until after a while or so. Could it be my ballast/igniter, the wiring, or the fuses? Thanks
Tony Hamilton so I just put the headlight in this weekend without the ballasted without all the hassle of taking off bumper and I'm thinking it's the ballast because mine is doing this bullshit still it's gotten me two tickets. So my guess is the ballast of you haven't done this already I'm going to try to tackle mine again today before the snow hits and I'll be back to let you know how it went.
Mine is doing the same thing am going to change n upgrade to a 10k bulb n also change the ballast this weekend using this video so if it does thanks to this video and I'll let u know but it should be the ballast, I have a 04 I mean it's a 13 year old car. I think it's the ballast. Keep u posted if u haven't found out yet
Rushane Frazer I just received my ballast & igniter. About to replace the current ones and hope that it fixes the problem. Yea, both of my lights are having the problem at the moment. Be right back
Tony Hamilton I pull the the bumper apart, i checked and the result was one of my ballast was bad, and the other my headlight bulb was out, But the kit I ordered was the whole conversion kit different from the original ballast hids, So i had to convert the whole thing being that already got the kit and took the bumper off, so i don't have the igniter or the original acura ballast, I converted everything and just made the one that came worked But the in and out of the lights was that it had a bad ballast not the igniter,
Rushane Frazer Hey man. I swapped out both of my ballast, but they werent the problem ($85 wasted). My igniters were the culprit. Right now I'm using a bit of unsafe igniters which I mean by the ground wire isnt connected. They're working great at the moment. Gonna get the OEM igniters soon. Also glad to see your lights are in working order again
How do you know if the ballast and or the ignitor is bad?? I just bought a 2004 TSX and the passenger side head light doesn't come on nor do the high beams on both sides. I'm going to try and tackle it this week but don't what to check
ed ubinas do a little bit of guess and checking by switching around the ballasts and ignited from the driver side until you’re able to pinpoint which one is bad. May be time consuming but it’s better then spending money on a part that’s not broken
l like your wheels..is this my problem? my bulbs work if i flick them on and off a few times. my son who's a fledgling mech says it's the ballasts.oh yeah you just reminded me l need to buy some hood ..(don't know what they're called... hold open pistons ..l use an old shower curtain rod lol) who made those rims l want them
My issue is that there are 2 bolts connecting the ballast housing base to the car which are impossible to get to as they are behind the wiper fluid tank. My dumb ass bought 2 new hid's , replaced them and my passenger side low beam still didn't work.
Francisco Tiburcio xenonhid.com gave me ballast and bulbs for 115 included for both sides I did use promo code for 11$ off and free shipping just FYI it's worth buying the whole kit just in case I have 05 TL and if you have the same model chances are you already have Hid so you don't need conversion kit but that's what it's called a HID conversion kit
All those damn works just to replace a headlight bulb, pardon my French but what the fuck is Acura thinking. Damn..they really fuck this one up. Why so make it so complicated for sn average person to change a headlight bulb. My brother has a '06 TL, I'm going to hear all the cursing, bitching, and complaining from him about going through those steps of replacing a headlight bulb. 😠😠😠😠
