I love reading american fitter comments. I dont think American fitters would last 5 mins here fitting some of the rubbish we fit on a daily basis that comes across the channel from Europe. The secondary backing is as standard, peeling off, the pile is never straight enough for row running and the backing is either plate steel stiff or so soft your bolsters rips straight through it. On top of that the quality of even our premium gripper is so poor you have to spray it to get any kind of decent hold sometimes. Shrinkflation seems to be the order of the day when it comes to the quality of everything nowadays. As this looks like an attend to someone elses shoddy work, I personally would have done the same as he did as I couldnt risk putting my stretcher through some cheap tat with no evidence of replacement carpet around. The stuff the yanks use always looks perfectly made. Even the good makes seem to be made to a shocking standard our way nowadays.
Lol! There is a nail tack strip for a reason. You knee kick the carpet forward and it holds in place with plenty of tension on carpet, cut perfect to size with razor blade. Handymen are funny!
- US carpet installer here Bro why would you do that? What’s the benefit to that as opposed to using a 20g crown stapler? Just curious. I personally only use spray under the pad. NEVER ever near a finished surface.
