@GabbyRoxas Usually because the umd laser is off center or maybe a UMD connector got disconnected or a gear is stuck. Check the inside.

How is this a tutorial? It just shows a very bad solder job on a place which you can't relly determine from the video.

At least you showed what does it look like inside our PSP's.

Add voice over on your next tutorial bud, it helps a lot with video.

I had the same prob on a PSP 3000 with a new battery. Did a hard reset and it worked. If you try it, you may have to repeat the procedure a couple of times or get someone to help hold down all the buttons... All together, hold down the Select, Start, Triangle, and Square, while also switching on the Power button. I had to hold them a few seconds before it turned on. Good luck.

My psp turns on but I have to hold the switch up for awhile do you know how to fix this?

A fuse is there to stop electrical overloads, what you are doing is making a direct route for electrical current to pass through. So if a surge of electricity goes in, it goes straight through and destroys the other components instead of popping the fuse, turning an easy repair job, into a good waste of money.

@usc5442 Read 1st Well there are no photos of the fuse but it's possible to find (safely too!). What you do I disassemble the PSP and get to the motherboard. Keep the screen and power connected. First, take a look at the two clips from the screen connected to the motherboard, and focus on the smaller one (on the left). Where it's connected, follow any of the tracks until you reach a fuse. I don't know how many fuses there are so trial and error. Now turn on the PSP and cut off piece of solder.

@amerik43 have you tried turning it on without the battery? If it still turns off then its the power fuse, just crack it open and solder it . Sorry to say a pandora's battery wont do anything about this problem but is REALLY useful for later. Oh BTW, which model PSP do you have (ex. 1000, 2000, 3000, GO)?

Took all the screws out but can't get the cover off where the power supply is located. I don't want to force it because it may break. Got any suggestions?

I see. i just needed to know of how to open up psp without having to remove the garantee bar, which is impossible, in order to clean off the my jammed R button. thanx mate for locating the screws.

most have a f1 f2 fuse, one from the power port and the other from battery. by passing the battery want hurt nothing but passing the input power port might fry the system if there is a power surge or a fluks in incoming power. O try usb charge port it does work.forgot about the usb port.You don't want to exceed 5V300ma raw power to the psp. check out usb charge psp on youtube if you need help with usb charge. you need to check if the battery has bit the dust before any of this.

No you have a problem called a brick. I don't know the exact procedure nowadays but a Pandora's battery should work.

My psp 3000 cannot turn on. When it is charged without battery or start it with battery inside without charging, the green light come up but the screen will be off after short time and the wlan green light does appear right before it happen. Sometimes there is pop sound when it is turn off. I had try fix the flex power cable but it didn't work. Charge the battery does work with orange light but the screen won't turn on. Any help?

My PSP wasn't used for awhile and after I tried again it won't turn on, when it's plugged in the light on the bottom right doesn't do anything, no orange or red or green, nothing. Is this the same problem you had?

I have a similar problem to you. When I turn on my PSP, the lights turn on fine ( charging light, power light ) but after about 15 - 30 seconds, it turns off. Will this tutorial have the same effect for mine? I don't want to try something before I know if it will or will not work.

@HNkN you did it not him, therefore you are responsible for damaging your PSP. You probably over soldered and damaged the chip because of inexperience with a soldering iron.

@ammuandtorresspain its not a hardware problem, its a software problem called a brick. Get a pandora's battery

my psp 3001 does not connect through the battery, have I tested even with an asymmetric source, some component tip to test? or do you have the diagram of it to download somewhere? because I can not find anywhere

I've tried to do a similar thing using a 1.5 volt battery instead of the welder and the psp has turned on but green led light hasn't, now it just remains on the date and hour setting display, button x doesn't work to go on any suggestion??

you bypass a fuse if you do that if there a large amount of voltage running in there the circuit board going to boom all

You know where the LCD screen gets connected to the inside with the two connectors that have the black flaps that open up and down? Is it possible to reconnect them if one came off?...

@assassin12404 is it A pandora battery? if so, it doesnt turn on with a regular firmware, you need to hack it again. Have you charged it? Plug the battery in then the adapter and see if it turns orange. Does it boot into XMB? if not, just use a pandora battery because its most likely bricked if it does not. Q? a. have you tried a new battery or adaptor? try it.

Is there a no solder fix for this problem?

@thomasebbs Umm thats usually the RAM fading which is VERY rare but try another battery and see if its fixed

Help Me! My PSP 2000 is having the same problem as this. I have taken it to a repair shop and the guy tells me that he can't fix it. I am so devestated when i heard him say that. I freaking don't know what happened. I gave it to my cousin to play and then some kid gave it back to me saying that it broke down. PLEASE HELP!!

My psp doesn't turn on when i press power button, but when i plug in the charger it does light up a orange led. Often during the day it turns on by itself and suddenly turns off after the sony logo. Does anyone have any idea what the issue might be? I think the problem might be the power switch pcb.

My PSP2004 hangs just after showing Sony Welcome screen and sound. The green light also stops. If the battery is disconnected and agaih put back it goes the same way. what can be done? Please help..

That happend to me. Had not used for a while and when i want to play psp, it doesn't turn on, does not charge. In my casethe problem was de power fuse. It was "broken". Thow some copper on that fuse trying to make contact in both metal ends. Then try to buy the same fuse and replace it. I haven't done it and my psp is functional. Sorry for my english.

nope, I tried what the guy said, just getting it open and the screen removed and everything else I stripped I think 3 different screws, even using the write screwdriver that I bought just to do this. They are really tight, I don't know how you can get them unscrewed if you've had it for as long as I did. Anyway, I ended up just throwing it away. I still have the games though, not sure what to do with them, maybe sell them on ebay...

@zainuintel did you change anything in the system (flash0)? take the battery out and put in the charge cord in it and try to turn it on with no battery if that worked then you have changed something in the vsh menu or recovery menu if the psp is on with no battery in it ,press the select button and go down to make normal battery then turn it off and start it up again but this time with the battery in it and without charge plug, worked for me (sorry for my bad english im dutch)

Pretty shoddy degree of soldering. Then again I'll say "if it works, who cares about semantics?" Overall the process isn't hard, there's no real tutorial here however. This would be no different than me soldering charge ports on iPad Mini's or Airs, without talking over it. If you're demonstrating that's one thing. However you claim this is a tutorial. You also fail to point out the complete list of tools you'll need, you pointed only a basic soldering iron, gauge of solder. There's nothing specifying the screw type needed to open the unit or the procedure accessing it. There's quite a bit detail you're skipping over. I'm simply trying to offer you some constructive criticism seeing as how you're young and you are doing your best to help the RU-vid community with your knowledge. Just make sure you're ready for people who will judge your attempts. It's great you can handle solder, but learn about oxidization and tinning first, before you go instructing people on how to solder points on a pcb. That's all, if you've any questions comment back.

@Dominoes282 umm do you have another working link. and also will this method work on psp slim 2000 versoin. i oepned up everything and i do see the white box but since the layout is different do i just solder the left side like u did or is their a little part that only needs to be solder. if do can youy please upload or give me a link to a pic showing that small little part.
