Students make obvious rhythmic mistakes all the time. But majority of them can be fixed or even prevented if you can count properly. In this video, I'm demonstrating how you should approach your rhythm and counting, using some beginner repertoire. But you can apply the same technique to more advanced music.

U explained perfectly well! I really received comments from student saying the counting is confusing them…tbh it is actually their playing already messed up! 😂 hope to have a repeating tape voice ask them to count out loud 🤣

Awesome video once again. That's a very helpful and important piece of advice. When i first started learning, i diligently count while practicing, after awhile i got lazy and just go by feeling. Everything was going fine as the pieces and rhythm were still simple until about 1.5 years of learning, i realised that i cannot play with correct rhythm while sight reading slightly more complex pieces. Now i had to start practicing from easier pieces while sight reading to make it a habit once again. It's too late to regret now, if only i had stuck to the habit right from the beginning.

It's never too late. There are tons of stuff I learned/realized after I became a teacher. Important thing is to never stop improving.

Muito bom. Tenho uma dificuldade grande em contar o tempo das invenções de duas e três vozes de Bach. Creio que em boa parte é devido a dificuldade de ler tantas notas ao mesmo tempo que tento acertar os dedilhados e o ritmo 😅

Good ! You're só nice 👍 Help me to do those notes up and down with the left hand: F(Finger5), C(F...3), E(F...2) and note A(f...1). My finger number 5 need help😅

Hey Akira, what are your thoughts on Czerny's Practical Method for Beginners, Op. 599? I've personally found these exercises to be TREMENDOUSLY helpful.

I call that kind of rhythm-free playing 'typing'.
