how can an HDMI device prevent the TV from turning on? Same for the remote control, if the TV won't switch on using its power button a "fixed" remote control won't switch it on either. Releasing static from the IC by pressing the power button while unplugging power may indeed do the trick
THANKS SO MUCH, OUR 75-INCH SONY TV WAS NOT EVEN 2 YEARS AND I JUST UNPLUGGED IT FOR LIKE A DAY AND AFTER WATCHING YOUR ADVICE, THE TV WAS BACK TO NORMAL.
Having gone down this road many times also try removing the plate that covers the back where the plug goes in, It seems like it's locked in there but it isn't and will slide off if you keep wiggleing it out. Then look at the plug jacket and see if it comeing out. Mine was and forever was trying to figure it out. It's just the plug jacket was coming loose.

my sony was updating then the next morning it wont start I tried everything. to make matters worse my internet box failed the same time. everytime there's an update it screws up all my electronics.
I've tried them all but my TV doesn't react. Only the light flashes intermittently. but whatever button I use, even on the TV itself, the screen stays off. Even if I wanted to reset it to zero, I don't know how to do it😞
Same thoughts here, now i turned the TV on the indicator lights up until it offs and now lot of troubleshoots nothing works, and i doubt because of the software update 😢
Thanks. I unplugged for about 10-15 minutes, took HDMI out and put back in, held the power button down and at about 30 seconds it turned on. Very good, thank you.
Download latest firmware file and extract the .pkg in root of USB Drive (I had FAT32, NTFS should also work I guess) Rename firmware file to upgrade_loader.pkg - so this was what basically that guy said in the video. If the default file doesn't start the android installation, rename it to this. Pull out TV plug and wait for 2 min Put the USB Drive in USB1 slot (probably any USB slot should work) Plug-in TV (do not turn ON, do not press any button at all) Firmware installation should start from the USB and you should see that "do not plug out" image. Installation might take upto an hour but can sometimes take upto 8 hrs, so just leave it there. Once/if the installation finished and you're greeted with the setup screen, take out the USB drive Highly recommend doing a Factory Reset from TV's menu but not necessary. Just remember, if you're doing factory reset, do not keep that USB drive plugged in, or the firmware will start re-installing from that USB Hopefully this saves somebody's day. I went through all this trouble not because I couldn't afford a new TV but rather it bothered me that hardware is perfectly good but a software glitch broke it (yeah, I'm a bit nerdy). In a perfect world, every TV should have a separate firmware just for HDMI input, anything else should be on top of that. TLDR: Extract the latest firmware on root of a USB drive, rename the firmware file to upgrade_loader.pkg, put it in TV usb slot, plug-in the tv to power (do not turn on the TV or press any button). Firmware should reinstall from USB

Praise the lord almighty it work I call the Sony customer service he was from ( el Salvador) different country he told me to hold it for 30 seconds & didn't work but a full minute did the trick so much relive Cost me $ 2400 dollars & best buy told me the warranty was expired 😢 I'm glad it work your trick

This does not address what to do when the red light keeps flashing on the front of the TV. I have seen videos that push the volume up or volume down button plus the on button but can’t remember which
