You sir are a legend! Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. It worked 100% for my KD-55X8509C. My power board looked a bit different, was exposed circuits rather than having a cover but the plug looked similar so I just went for it and cut/grounded the 4th wire from the top as described. TV is working perfectly!
This has solved the issue with the 6 blinking lights on my KD 55XE8577 - there is a service manual downloadable online via google search. From there I doubled checked that the schematic matches what I see on the circuit board and identified the Backlight Error cable. It was a little confusing for a layman like myself in the beginning but there are 2 white cables amongst a bunch of grey cables - so I just used that as a reference to work out which cable slot relates to which tv function in the service manual. It works out that the bottom column top row slot is no.1, top column top row is no.2 - so the 8th slot which is the one I needed to cut is the top column 4th row down as per the video. Being the noob I am, I forgot to peel back the cable plastic casing in the first attempt before screwing it down to earth the cable; this resulted in the red light still flashing. I opened up the back and earthed it properly and now the TV does not show the red light error anymore and running as normal. Really useful video so thanks Adith for showing us the way!!
55x850D here also however there was no 4th wire for me just an empty space. Ended up cutting the 5th wire since there was no 4th and now the TV is pretty much trash now
not sure, my advice is to ask someone smarter than me and do more research, dont end up like me cutting the wrong wire and having to buy a new set@@friendselectro4501
Omg I can't believe it worked on my tv. I was going to throw it out because I can't afford to get it fixed but this did the job. Had 1 single led out and was messing everything up. So the image on tv still looks good as new. All the other videos didn't work so very happy this one did. Thx
Thanks so much for this fix for my 2017 XBR-55X800E. One of my backlights started to fade and Sony decided I wasn't allowed to watch my TV. Simple wire snip and it's back in action, with only a little dimness in a section of the screen.
"fixed' my TV using this after it randomly started doing the 6 blinks last night. tried all the other fixes but this one suits me fine. won't be buying another Sony as this one only lasted 4yrs before doing this! KD-65x8500G
I got 4 red blinks on KDL-55HX729. However, the board looks different. i had to find BL_ERR on the board. For this model, it is 3rd wire, and I grounded it. Thank you for the video
Worked for the time being on a 3 year old 85" xbr-85x800h - same wire (top row, 4th in from the right). Sony calls this Pin 8 on the pinout that is on the board, but it is the one in the video above. Cut the black wire, ground out the end from the cpu board, and all is well. Hope it gets my by awhile longer!
Worked on xbr-65x850d! 🎉🎉 its a different setup behind the back cover but the 14pin (actually its 28pins between 2 rows) connector goes from the power supply to the motherboard. My TV does list the 'pin config' and the BL_ERR is the exact same one as the video (2nd row, 4th one back!).. i cut it and grounded it, per the video.. now, NO MORE 6xBLINKING RED LIGHT!!! .. running a software update but half the screen is dark (not completely black), so im pretty sure the Backlight panel is bad 😞.. looking at ebay for replacement boards but might just get rid of it cause if one thing is going bad there are probably more on the way. I'll see how much parts are and how complicated the repair process is. Thank you sooooo much for this video!!! Tried all other suggestions from many google searches and this was the only thing that worked! .. could not have done it without you Adith Krishnan!!!! 😊😊😊😊
All kidding aside I spent the last several hours combing through solutions for this problem on the Internet. I finally got frustrated and punched the TV out of anger and immediately started working again. The next time somebody tells me violence doesn’t solve anything I’m going to laugh at them.
SONY Quality is gone down consderably from worse to worst.....DONT EVEN THINK of BUYING IT.... I got a Sony KD-55X80J in Sep 2021 for Rs 80,000.. It started giving this 6 times LED blinking and shutting down problem in June in the 10th month.. Luck for me in my warranty period..but the etechnician cant replace the faulty part till they realize what is the problem ..... I am dumping this off and getting a cheaper variant of whatever is ther eis market... HD Quality my foot.
Hi! Yes I very much agree with you. Pls consider LG! As I thought my tv had conked off prior to opening it up and trying a fix, I went and bought a new TV. Went for the LG 65 inch 4K TV. LG65UP77 model number. It's very good in terms of pictures, smoothness of UI with the magic remote and AI features.. First time I've bought LG and very happy with it's amazing picture quality. Quick to open apps no lag and not very expensive compared to Sony..
Nice fix, have to try on my TV. However it doesn't indicate the root cause, I suspect its the power supply board, likely a blown capacitor or IC. One alternative is to solder another LED to the wire - maybe with a transistor/resistor combo and drop it down at the back, that way you can still get the blinking indication for other errors.
It worked great!! Is it a fire hazard now and what exactly did I bypass by cutting that 4th wire? What was the root issue and by bypassing it does that create a hazard? I had 6 flashing red lights originally. Seems fixed now!
Hi sir I have sony xbr 75x850c they sony bravia 6 red blinks problem sometimes work 30 min after again closed I have this tv almost 10 years old which part I need chance or replace? Thank you
I meant until something really conks off and since there’s no error indicator it breaks down for good.. that’s when there’s no other resort than replacing the TV
I followed these instructions and RED light stopped blinking. However, my screen has turned very Dark after this and I barely can see any applications..any suggestions?..TV Model KDL65W850C
I have a Sony 55X90J with 4 linking red lights. Will it work the same way? I’m 76 years young and trying to fix this tv myself. I’ve already taken the back cover off.
@adithkrishnan9538 - I have a SONY 65- can you please confirm, is it the 4th wire on the top row OR for this model, the 8th wire - which is the 4th on the bottom row. I see you have been able to provide clarity to other users. Thanks.
Hello Adith, Thank you for your solution. My Sony TV KD-55X8507C had the same issue with 6 times blinking. I did your solution with grounded the 4th wired from the big connector presented in your tutorial and the TV is working again but not 100%.The right side of my TV is darker then the left side.I suppose some back-lights are broken or intrerupted and this was the reason of 6 times blinking. What do think about it? Best regards Silvio
Hi! Yes the backlight panel could be damaged or have some other issue.. Not sure what's the fix for that other than replacement of the backlights.. But the one I've shown in the video would not entirely work if backlight is damaged as you say..
That's not how it works. Overheating an electrical component will fry the component or wire out, but it doesn't combust into flames. The worst that will happen is that component will be destroyed or the wires leading up to it.
I have KD55XD8005 tv. And can't seem to figure out which wire to cut/ground 😖manual says i have to measure voltage og 21st pin on CN400. Which i think is 5th wire from the back on that wire asyy. But other than that, everything on the inside looks fine. I've tried following your video , but it didn't work for my tv. Help needed😢
"Hello, comrade! Everything good? My Sony Bravia TV, Model KD-55XE8096, also has the issue of blinking 6 times. Interestingly, it restarts around 8 AM and shows this error, but around 6 PM it restarts and keeps the image. Could it be the same problem? Thanks.
I have had the same issue, i could literally see the black spot due to blown leds after bypassing the feedback. I changed led strip LHS strip only as RHS wasnt available, and kept the opened the bypass. Within a few minutes the OLD RHS strip conked off as well. Will wait till the new strip arrives. Do you think this is due to variable LED resistances that is causing the imbalance in the feedback loop?? What would have caused the perfectly working RHS strip to blow. Also should i also replace the IC for the led section to prevent blowong of the strip??
@Bhushan I'm sorry but I'm not this technically sound with electronics and components so don't really understand what you're saying. Whatever I've tried is done through looking through other videos and resources online and this video is a combined effort to sum up all that so it's easy for viewers without technical knowledge to try the fix at their own risk.. Hope you find a solution soon!
@@adithkrishnan9538 i did, the Tvs been working fine since I replaved both the Led Strips. It was the change in voltages between the old and new strip that caused it to conk of. Now all seems fine to me. Thanks
@@jcalzada74 Jeez what a coincidence, My TV was dead for 1 year. I had at that time, a proper Sony helpline technician come and have a look at it. He said he would have to replace the whole LED panel, which would cost a bomb. Just a week ago someone in my locality recommended a TV technician who repaired it for a 5th of the price of the LED a panel, he repaired it in a day. He told me the 5 blinks indicates a short circuit in the power connection to the LED panel. If you could find someone locally, to do it you would save a lot. My TV died after a heavy rainstorm, which could have caused and electrical surge.
Hello brother, i am having the same sony module and the same problem. I did what you suggested but the tv completely red display is showing can you please suggest
Hi @Dupree! Not sure pls open up your TV and check if the components are similar to what I've shown in the video.. if you can find the corresponding wires and parts on your TV then you could try this hack..
mine having the same problem. at first there is a darker area at right side somehow it disspear after few weeks, n another few weeks i got the 6 blinking led
When turning on my TV, the Sony logo comes up on the screen with the led light white for a bit then the logo disappears so the screen become darker and the led light starts blinking red 6 times in loop. Your steps will be helpful for my case 🙂?
Hey thanks for the video But my Sony kdl-43w800d having the same 6 time blinking problem and i also ground the backlight wire but still 6 time blinking happening please provide me the solution And yes the tv runs fine for 1-2 hours and after that the error occurs and after switching off the tv for 5-10 minutes the error gone and than again 1-2 hour error comes up please provide me the solution Thanks and appreciate
Yes maybe but soldering a resister is a complex process.. needs some basic to intermediate knowledge of electrical & electronics engineering. So compatitive to that just cutting a wire like I've explained in this video is doable by anybody and hence easier..
Hi Dear Adith, I have same TV but my tv 55in. KD-55X8500D and instead of 14+14 pin there is 15+15 pin. I need the pin description or which wire i should remove. Need urgent help before waste the TV.
Not exactly sure about 5 red lights blinking. But this fix I’ve shown works by overriding any error on the tv. It’s a risk you’ll have to be willing to take and follow the same method. The TV will work but on the dark side, your tv won’t be able to recognise and take action on any error it gets. It’ll just keep running. That’s a risk we chose to take for our TV. So kindly take an informed decision.
