Your creaking noise might come from the swivel joints inside the casing. It's actually very easy to open the plastic casing to access the joints inside. Start from the back, look for a hole on the right hand side, stick a screwdriver in there and lift up to start popping the cover off.

I've had my chair close to 5 years and it just started squeaking and it was driving my nuts. Thanks for your video!

I unscrewed the seat from the chair and applied bike chain grease to the screws, worked pretty well! Thanks for the tips.

Very bad idea to put there anything that is mineral oil based... (in fact most bicycle chain greases are) such products will deteriorate plastics in no time if there are such moving parts nearby, and mostly they smell very bad either. Silicone-based lubricant is the only way to go when plastics are in play

Thanks - going to give this a shot with used aeron classic. I've pinpointed the squeak to the right bolt that holds the seat to the frame Picked it up off someone local who refurbishes them for an absolute steal and this is the only real 'issue' if you even want to call it that.

Worked a treat. I had to tighten one of the seat bolts that had worked loose over the past 15 years, but the old chair is now silent :)

My Aeron squeaks when I lean back and rotate from side to side. Any tips on how to remove that?
@CrandallOfficeFurniture

My next thought on this is that it could be the mechanism cover have you tried to rule that out?
@vidworxsfx
@vidworxsfx Год назад
Check the B link pivot points where it attaches at the bottom back of the seat pan and lightly lube those, that should fix that issue. What I did is took the bolts out cleaned it all up lubed and reassembled it and the noise was gone. To do this easily you can use a 10mm socket and a 4mm Allen wrench.

How long does this lubricant last before you have to apply more?
@CrandallOfficeFurniture
@CrandallOfficeFurniture Год назад
Great question, this really depends on use, product used and if applied correctly. According to this video it should last a while months at least.

hi, what about squeaking arm rest when i lean on it?? have a brand new aeron and i noticed it on my left one
@CrandallOfficeFurniture
@CrandallOfficeFurniture Год назад
After talking with one of our technicians his advice is to remove the arm pad and see if there is an accumulation of dust and also to us a petroleum jelly around the inside of the arm pad. If you want us to help you diagnose the problem we would love to help. Email us at Contact@crandalloffice.com send us a video of what is going on that would be super beneficial.

Any tips on the mechanism cover lubrication? My chair I just purchased from y'all creaks from leaning back, but if you put your hand to the bottom of the mechanism cover, it goes quiet.

Helped 50% of my creak... The other 50% came from the pivot points under the cowl past the springs. Recommend you redo the vid and address that area too.
@CrandallOfficeFurniture

Thanks for the suggestion
@vidworxsfx
@vidworxsfx Год назад
Yes I would add to this as the squeaks and odd noises can also come from where the J bars or B links attach to the seat bottom at the back as well as the other end of the B link pivot point, as I found they can resonate after a while when dirty especially on the much older chairs, a tiny bit of lube at these points fixed the issues I was having, as the noise was not coming from the spots you mention in this current video. So I suggest if anyone still has squeaks to also check the points I mention in my post.

Is there a good way to lubricate the tilt mechanism? I lubed the areas described and it did nothing at all. I think it's creaking from the mechanism itself. I also tried to lube the top of the mechanism to hopefully penetrate from there, but it also did nothing. Do I need to pull out the frame part of the chair to access a good lube spot? How can I do that?
@CrandallOfficeFurniture
@CrandallOfficeFurniture Год назад
The creaking can also come from the mechanism cover, if you would like someone to help you in more detail you can email us at contact@crandalloffice.com or call us at 616-682-0110

I applied Super Lube 91110 Aerosols Silicone on the pivot bolt area, but have some additional fiction and more noise. Not sure if this is related to the type of lube. After wiping them down, the noise goes away. Do you mind making a video about lubing the hex section as well? That's will be extremely helpful as a long-term maintenance.
@CrandallOfficeFurniture
@CrandallOfficeFurniture Год назад
We will put that on our list of consideration thank you for watching. We are not experienced with that specific kind of lube and if that would cause the noise you are experiencing.

We put new casters on all of our chairs, so we've never really tried lubricating them before - give it a try though and let us know how it goes! :)

Should not be using WD40, it's not a lubricant. Not sure if the "silicon quick dry" is, but regular is not and should never be used for lubrication.
@CrandallOfficeFurniture
@CrandallOfficeFurniture 2 года назад
We 100% agree with not using traditional WD40 - the silicone version we recommend is a silicone based dry-lube that we've found to work very well though :)
