How to flip cars UK | FULL PROCESS (7)
Welcome to the @Cars 'N' Stuff channel where we're starting off our RU-vid journey to try and showcase how we buy and sell cars.
In this #car #flip video, I'm showing how I made just over £300 by making this little #alfaromeo #mito more presentable by giving it a bit of TLC.
On this occasion, I've bought a cracking little Mito from BCA (British Car Auctions) which I probably paid too much for in the end as it required a bit too much work to make a decent profit.
Now, until we arrive, we don't know what shape it's in so I always go expecting the worse but to fair, it was only the bumper damage that I was aware of that was the only concern really.
After fixing the bumper, polishing it and advertising it for sale, it was soon snapped up by a local lady in Gloucester - whom I actually delivered it to, it was soon snapped up and made just over £300 in total.

Great vid, I also do the same as you. Sometimes you make a good profit and others not so great, for the amount of effort. But it’s profit at the end of the day. I also had a customer asking if I’d come to them as they were disabled and unable to make a long journey. I agreed yes, if they paid a non refundable deposit up front to cover my time and travel cost, and they agreed. If they brought the car then the deposit was deducted from the purchase price and I just incurred the travel cost back home, but happy to have sold the car. That seems to work as opposed you taking the risk to travel to potential customer who may or not buy Great content and keep it coming

Cheers mate! I have demo cover attached to my trade policy so just let them take it for a spin. Payment is via bank transfer or cash and paperwork is completed as normal. Hope that helps 🙏

Hey buddy loving the vids, Looking to take an insurance out as a trader starting off, what happens if you want to use a car for personal use for a few months do you just ad that reg into the system? Also how to do you the v5 when your buying it into trade do you just write you Ltd company name down etc thank you

Yea you just add the car to your insurance as a personal car so you'll have to tax it too - and just sell it as a private sale when you decide to sell it. In terms of cars to sell, you just fill out the trade part of the v5 (this van also be done online). You can either register with HMRC as a Ltd company or just work as a self employed sole trader - whichever works out better for you tax wise 👍

really enjoying you channel I have just found. just a few questions as looking at giving this ago. When you sell the cars are they sold as private or trade, do you have to tax the cars and who do you use for trade insurance? keep up the good work.

Appreciate the feedback mate 👍 they're all sold as trade (yellow section of v5) and I tax vehicles that are parked on the road that I can't fit on my drive - I set up the monthly dd option and cancel the dd when I sell them. I use a broker called Plan Insurance who provide quotes from different insurance companies - similar to a comparison website for personal use cars

@user-zd4sg3ew7k You can only take a car back with an assured report. I've bought a couple of lemons where I've lost money but 90% of the time I've made profit

@user-zd4sg3ew7k Ah I see, sorry. I've had to do it twice actually. Once I sold a mini to a friend of mine and the engine light came on on the way home on the day he bought it - took it to my local garage and it needed the head skimming so I sold it as spares and gave my friend his money back. Another time I sold an Insignia to a couple who travelled quite far and when they drove it home, literally 10 miles up the road, the gearbox practically shredded itself. So I rescued them, managed to source a reconditioned gearbox and got my local garage to fit it. I still ended up selling it to the same people - I drove it there and delivered it to them. In relation to warranty, I'm looking at getting it for more expensive cars but as it stands, it's more of a gentleman's agreement where if anything goes wrong with the car then I just ask them to bring it back to me to assess. I've had a few cars come back to me for minor things (water in footwell so needed to unblock drainage system and on another occasion I had a car come back to me as the engine light came on - luckily it was just a sensor so both of these were cheap fixes).

Thanks for these videos, I've just found your channel after getting my trade policy and applying for my plates. Can I just ask what you do about warranty etc. I'm assuming you can't sell as a private seller this way and would have to go with the trade of goods act? Has this caused you a problem? I've always just done them as private before but I'm heading more down the trader route now.

Hi Steve, I supply a "gentleman's agreement" warranty where if anything goes wrong within the first 6 months. I just ask them to bring it to me and I'll fix the issues if it's economical to do so. I've only had to do it twice so I've been quite lucky. Although I am going to offer warranty for more expensive cars using Handler Protect. More than happy to help if you have any other questions 👍

I’m doing the anything up to £3k approach at the moment , and now filling in the motor trade part of the logbook so figured I’d be officially classed as a “motor trader” with all the stuff that goes with that. @stevewalker7945 that's probably the best budget to stick to as the cheap cars are easier and quicker to sell. It's also a lot quicker filling out the v5 online- there's a trade option too. All the best on your journey mate, it sounds as if you're doing all the right things so far 👍
