In this video I will show you how to fluff an artificial Christmas tree to look its fullest. I will talk about the process and also chat briefly about the difference between pre-lit and regular artificial trees.
My Christmas tree came with lights and soon enough they failed. I decided to remove the lights because I felt it was wasteful to just buy another tree. It took a lot of work but it paid off. I used some of your tree fluffing techniques to bring my tree back to life. My daughter told me that it looked like a professional put up our tree! Your advice really helped. Thank you for sharing your decoration expertise.
Our artificial tree is 24 years old this year and has been showing its age for the last few years...needing floral wire to shore up weak branches, etc. But it was super-high quality then and now every year in its Geriatric Years it is a challenge to keep it going. I'm always looking for new ideas for effectively fluffing it every year. (Haha, a few years ago I took it outside in summer to give it a spray-down 'bath' to rid it of years' worth of dust!) The tree you showed in this video is so nice and full! Love the feature of the tri-spread on the lower branches. I agree with your tip at the end about the garland. Years ago I bought really expensive garland and cut it in lengths to fit around the center bare areas of our tree. Now all I have to do each year is grab those pre-cut/pre-shaped pieces and plop them in place before going on to the next layer! And I'm so glad our tree wasn't pre-lit. It has given me the freedom to change my lighting every year as desired.
Your videos are so helpful and easy to follow. Love them. You are a natural born teacher. Thanks for these videos. Getting loads of great ideas and I love that nothing is too frou-frou, just beautiful.
I absolutely love your RU-vid channel. You actually break it down step by step and the decorations are beautiful! My favorite one is the classic tree decoration you did.❤
One of your videos recently popped on my feed, and I’ve been binge watching ever since! I’m getting tons of great ideas, and your tip about wrapping the center post with garland? Brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that? Thank you!
Bro, It's 2020 and I just came across your video few weeks ago.. I must say that you are a beast in a good way loool. I actually bought 2 garland and added them around my tree.. You are a beast bro..My tree looks so expensive..its beautiful. thanks so much. blessings to you and family bro!
We used to have real tree every y. and it was in the bedroom ..Going to sleep was like going into the winter wonderland .The aroma of the fresh tree and sugar lollies wrapped in shiny paper glistening ,watching the snow fall through the window.... we had fantastic dreams as kids..
love your soothing voice and demonstration. i will most def use your technique as i use a artificial tree this year. can you tell me what kind of tree you used for this demo?
Great advice, thanks, I was going to ask what to do about disguising the hinges in the centre. My old tree was like the tree you demonstrated on, but my new tree this year is a 3-piece hinged one and there seems to be a lot of space in the centre because the greenery doesn't seem to go as far back down the metal arm as my old tree's branches (I suppose if it did it the hinges wouldn't close as well when putting the tree away). I only got the tree last week and have put it up to try it, and have fluffed the branches on one side as best I can just to see if I am happy with the tree, but try as I might I can't help finding myself drawn to the metal hinges in the centre! I am tempted to send it back but was wondering whether I could get something to disguise them. I think it is a good quality tree but I am a bit disappointed at the moment. It isn't decorated, of course, so that might change things?
Hi Julie! If you want to have a fuller look in your artificial tree, you can purchase a coordinating green color of inexpensive artificial pine garland (from Walmart, Target, or Menards, etc.) & tuck it into the interior of the tree around the center post to fill in. It doesn't have to be the most realistic looking artificial pine as it will be inside the tree and mostly out of sight. Using a wire cutters to cut the garland into shorter lengths might make it easier to get the garland into the tree & wearing work gloves will save on your hands from getting scratched by the branches as some trees have wire ends that can be a little rough to work with. If this ends up working for you, in future years this would be easier to do after the tree is set up but before it is fluffed. But, after you add lights & decorations the tree will look more full as well. I hope you are able to get your tree looking the way you like - happy decorating! :)
So my first artificial tree ..😳 I'm supposed to fluff before I put the branches on cuz I already got them all on is there a way I can fluff the right way while it's on ? LOL my bad..😔
Great video! Fluffing definitely makes such a difference! Was wonder if you could do a holiday look using colorful Christmas light? I’m all about the clear lights, and more modern elements on my trees. However, I have two little ones who want colorful lights and a traditional star topper this year, but I’m a little stumped. How do I keep my modern feel, and adding color lights and a star topper, without it looking too traditional?
I will keep the colored lights idea in mind - but something I did in a tree video was to put colored lights toward the center of the tree and use clear on the outside so that the colored lights just peeked through the branches and added subtle color to the tree while still having clear lights. I did this on the Classic Traditional Christmas Tree Video (but didn't show the lights being added - it was more of a quick idea mentioned in the end at 6:08 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MrNamVAMokk.html). Thanks for your suggestion/idea! :) -Christopher
To answer on the second portion of your question (and add to my first reply) - instead of having multi-color lights, you could stick to one color of lights that coordinates with the color scheme that you choose (and have clear lights too), and also choose a star topper that matches the theme you want. Also, adding floral and/or ribbon to go with your theme is a great way to tie everything together :)
Christopher Hiedeman Thank you so much! I usually do add florals, ribbon, mesh, and I usually make my own toppers. I love your idea of adding the color lights in the center! I may have to play with that idea! Thanks! I can’t wait to see more of your holiday creations! Love your work! 😊 It’s funny, I DO remember seeing that video, but I never noticed the color lights in the center! BEAUTIFUL!😍
Everybody recommends to wrap green garland around the centerpost of the tree to fill it up or make it look fuller but nobody actually makes a video on how to do it, can you make one, and can you still add colourful garland to the outer part of the tree a after putting green garland around the centerpist of the tree or not?
Hi Yadira, I have all of my trees up this year, but will keep that video idea in mind for next year. As far as adding colorful garland on the outer part of the tree with green garland in tree - you sure could! The green garland wrapped around the center post is only there to make the tree look fuller while the colored garland would be a decorative addition :) -Christopher
@@ChristopherHiedeman Wow! Thank you for answer me, im impressed and honored. I'm subscribe today to your channel because today i founded. Can't dominate your language very well but i tried 😁
That's a good question! It really depends on what you are looking for. If you like the traditional style artificial trees with the soft, papery feeling needles, usually a 7.5ft tree is around $100 to $550 depending on the width, fullness, and overall aesthetic design. The $100 tree will most likely be a little sparse for branches and may not have as natural looking of a design to its shape or color. A $550 tree may have more natural colors & shaping, and might be a wider, fuller tree. The tree in this video was around $350 about 6 years ago. Now, realistic trees with the firm, plastic branch tips can run anywhere between about $350 to $1400 for a 7.5ft tall tree. The $1400 version will most likely have the most realistic per non realistic branch tip ratio. These more realistic trees, though more expensive, usually last longer than the traditional papery artificial trees because the firm plastic needles store well and hold their shape year after year while the papery needle traditional style trees branch tips usually will get scrunched/flattened after a couple years of storage and use. Also, getting any tree prelit costs more compared to unlit trees. I usually prefer unlit trees because there are no worries of lights going out, and I don't mind adding my own lights. Not matter what tree you choose though, with proper fluffing and care, they all can look great! If you are looking at the lower price range options of trees, you can always add faux pine garlands inside to make them look more full as an inexpensive way to get a fuller looking tree. I hope this information is helpful! Thanks for your question! :) - Christopher
@@ChristopherHiedeman Thanks so much, I have not seen them which have the 3 separate branches to fluff. they really do make a difference. Thanks so much for the response and your fluffing technique. It does make a difference in making the faux tree look natural.
Hi Eric, I purchased this tree at Menards about 5 years ago - it is the Stanwick Pine in the Enchanted Forest brand. I'm not sure if they will have it online - hope you can find one! :) - Christopher
@@ChristopherHiedeman ah thank you for the information sincerely I appreciate it very much. I checked and unfortunately there are no folds available 😔. Well that is a bit of a ridiculous question. but I'll tell you anyway. If you ever want to sell it ... then let me know. I probably live very, very far from your home. but I would be prepared to pay for the courier cost. To send it by post. Another huge thank you! Regards Eric 🙂
I crushed my artificial tree under all the old luggages in my storeroom for more than a year and it is still fine, just that i cannot really fluff it up! (but yeah so many holes)
Just wanted to note you have the most 'realistic' artificial tree I've seen yet. Looked up the brand/model you have and it's no longer made. Here's hoping my National Tree Company Nordic Spruce comes close. 🤞
