Here's my method on flushing a heater core on my 1999 2.4l Dodge Dakota. I'm using parts of the Prestone Flush and Fill kit to perform this fix. I give some pointers on swapping out your thermostat during the process. Be sure to get any air out of your cooling system afterwards.

Was curious about the flush kit, seemed a little odd. Appreciate you clearing it up. A little commonsense goes a way. Dam sure don't want to (attempt) heater core replacement. Just go without heat.

That's for sure, I feel this is a pretty safe way to keep from causing leaks in your heater core. Thanks for the comment!

Why use those T joints? Why not just run the garden hose straight into the heater core hose

The T-Joint gives you control of the water pressure. If you just run it full blast, or higher than the seal on the heater core can take you will get leaks inside your vehicle. That's usually an expensive fix.

Most garden hoses dont put out that much water pressure. The heater core must be a pretty low pressure unit If a garden hose can break the seals. And garden hoses have a valve where you connect the hose to the house. So you wouldnt have to run it wide open.

Yea most heater cores would pop after 10psi. Better safe than sorry @shadtrisdale5444
