Thanks for sharing! I am using these tips for when I practice my instrument too. The warm up task in between procrastination state and the high productivity state was most helpful to me. When I practice my instrument I have to physically warm up my muscles before jumping into anything complex. Makes a lot of sense for my brain as well for studying.

I liked it a lot! For me a thing that makes a big difference is to allow yourself to do things that make you happy, in those short breaks. For example, I juggle or yoyo. So I would underline introducing happiness, it sort of complements the 'feel exciment' about what you are going to do. Ok, back to work :)

Funny thing: I was heavily not in the mood to get my work done, accounting... . So i was searching for help to get more focus, which i got distracted by even deeper. Just watching your video, not using any of your tips - but soon i will try- took me into the right mood and focus to get my work done. I like low-fi too and I will try this out. Today i was just hearing to a white noise to focus myself, which works quite well for a while. Thank you for your helping advices. As someone other said before: it is gold

Great tips, Artem. I just have to comment about listening to music while studying because clearly this really depends on the person. I personally absolutely cannot study if I can hear any sort of music. It is a similar effect to if somebody were talking in my ear. I am a musician, and I think it is something to do with the fact that whenever I hear music, my brain just starts trying to figure out the patterns, telling me the notes, the rhythms, the harmonies, and so on, whether I want it to or not. And if I am trying to focus on one task while my attention is being dragged away to another, my study really suffers. But even for non-musicians, I think the act of listening to music is cognitive at some level. I do often watch people in the library studying with music, and find myself asking whether it is helping or harming. I guess it's easy to put some music on and *feel* like you are getting more done, but in reality you're just falling into the trap of substituting a more difficult task with an easier one. Given your own experiences I'm willing to accept that music might be helpful for some people in some circumstances. But I think you have to be very careful here, and my first advice would be not to do it.

Interesting point. I wonder as a musician if your mind does the same thing with binaural beats or white noise?

Thanks for all good tips, Artem! Especially DF Tube, even I installed it 5 mins ago, changed my life. I must mention though that I feel like a little kid for using this extension. xD Please keep up the good work.

I drink green tea or coffee with about .35 grams of nutmeg and I feel ready and alert the myristicin helps with task switching and short term memory and amplifies the effects of the caffeine and the lcgc from green tea reduces the effect of stress but the nutmeg also reduces potassium levels, and comes with a sleepy crash. It cannot be taken to many days in a row and if I take more problems arise, I fix this with prune juice and sleep

Usually I deconstruct my work to small projects. That helps me but this process is not absolute. Sometimes this breaks and i take break from work. Syncing this break-rest-repair with the deadline is hard. I don’t know if there is any specific research on this approach.

I disagree on putting the phone away. Everything that's on my phone is on my computer. The better thing to do is filter out useless notifications you get from email, facebook, and so on. When I have my phone beside the computer the most important thing its there for is getting phone calls. It''s saves time not having to phone tag with someone, especially if its a call about something important.
