/ bikemanforu An on-camera discovery leads to a Memorial Day salute to our troops and an impromptu tutorial on how to fold the flag of the United States. Action begins innocently when RU-vid's how-to guru of bicycle repair introduces us to a $4,000 Main Street Classic Pedicab that arrived in the bike shop for some work. TenSpeedHanger gets a shoutout for his research as the world's best bicycle mechanic begins his review of the Shimano 21-speed cycle rickshaw. "It's pretty cool," BikemanforU notes. We get a look at the heavy duty Magura hydraulic rear brake system just as Mr. Pump arrives with a holiday hamburger for SonofA behind the camera. BMFU notes the super strong Rhino Lite double-wall alloy downhill rims, Bulletproof hub and sealed ball bearings. "It's made for the weight and heavy dutiness that goes on - not like that other thing," he says, referring to the jerry-rigged pedicab that's been in and out of the shop. RentaTrip earns a shout out for wanting to install a new crank on that beast. All of this goes out the window when BikemanforU notes the Main Street pedab's adjustable lights and goes looking for the battery under the seat. Oops! "The battery's in the back and something else is that kinda upsets me," he says, showing us where the stars and stripes had been stuffed inside to get wrinkled. "It is Memorial Day this weekend and (there's) no (more) fitting way to remember our troops than to fly the American flag. But more important that is to take care of the American flag, and obviously, this gentleman doesn't know how to take care of the American flag." This discovery is clearly upsetting, as he continues, "You know, this weekend coming up, we're supposed to memorialize and remember all of the people that have died serving our country, and serving for America and for our freedom. And they fought for this flag right here." He then calls out the owner. "This guy is being extremely disregardful by just crumpling up this flag and putting it under this seat right here. I'm not happy," BikemanforU says. We fly our own flag on Memorial Day, so the bike shop chef is enlisted to set things straight. "It's time to fold this flag properly. Mr. Pump, you want to come down here and give me a hand." Notes Mr. Pump, "That's great to show the proper respect for the people. Everybody deserves respect, and when you give respect you know what you get in return, Bikeman?" "You get respect," is the answer, adding,. "Again, Memorial Day, here we are. I haven't done this in a long, long time." "Since you were," "In Boy Scouts, I think," replies Mr. Pump. "I"m sure Robert L (that's RentaTrip) will let us know if we do it wrong." We can see how the flag is folded by bringing the two long ends together, like a sheet, and then, starting with the stripes, the flag is folded in a half-triangle, finishing with the stars. "Boy oh boy," says the BikemanforU. "When these people get back and they go to charge up their battery, boy, are they going to be surprised. Maybe we should leave them a little note." He wraps up, so to speak, saying, "I don't know. Call me what you want. I'm a patriot. I'm an American. I really, really, really do love my country. And, it is very important that we treat our flag with the utmost of respect. A lot of people died to keep this flag the way it is. I want to wish you a happy Memorial Day. I want to wish you a happy and safe, safe summer, please. Let's all stick around. And remember, God Bless America, and I want you guys to never fear, the BikemanforU is here." BikemanforU said after making this video that he had no idea when he lifted up that pedicab seat that he'd find a US flag stuffed underneath it. "I believe that was a direct message for me," he says, "to let our American troops know we're there for them."
