In this video I walk you through how to find and identify porcini mushrooms aka Boletus edulis. This is the second video in my new series "Mushroom Foraging for Beginners" which is aimed at discussing all facets of foraging. Here, we discuss key traits of the porcini, common poisonous mushrooms that can be confused with porcini, how to preserve the mushrooms and how to cook them.
NOTE: THIS VIDEO IS NOT A REPLACEMENT FOR FORMAL TRAINING! DO NOT USE THIS VEDEO ALONE TO IDENTIFY EDIBLE MUSHROOMS!
I also review my new Ruko F11 GIM2 Drone! If you would like to order this drone please follow the link bit.ly/44YwKiC To get a 35% discount please use promo code "CatchNCookCA"

I love these video's! My 4 year old grandson lives with me and this year we noticed mushrooms popping up everywhere. To conquer my fear of wild mushrooms or toadstools as my mom called them, I bought the David Aurora book, and have been taking my grandson with me on our mushrooms treks. So far we are just identifying, not eating any ( yet). Your video series so far has been fun and informative and I love the way you cook them up at the end! Thank you. Looking forward to more video's

I love the blanch your fish first idea. My solution to soft fish such as the greenling and perch is similar. I lightly fry the fillets then crumble them into homemade french onion soup. The bold soup flavor and mild fish pair well and you get your protein in your soup. Keep up this good work

This was awesome, once again. I have a cookbook, and in part of it, it explains how to gather certain species of wild mushrooms. Regardless, it's still best to go with an expert, to be safe. Hope you have a Merry Christmas. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️

Crazy how a mushroom can look so different. Porcini at our elevation are short fat and stumpy.

So the “poisonous” is only IF consume? If is touch or cut with the same knife that will be used for the one to cook is that ok? I am totally new to the mushrooms world.

I do clean my blade thoroughly if I cut a poisonous mushroom, but yes, all mushrooms are safe to hold and examine regardless of toxicity. I would not recommend crushing a poisonous mushroom and licking your hands though lol

I remember finding a poisonous one, I just cut it up and turned blue. I lady it alone because I don’t know anything about mushrooms. The only mushrooms I know is Matsutake, chanterelles , chicken and lobster mushrooms

How much of these hide in poison oak?
@catchncookcalifornia1574
@catchncookcalifornia1574 6 месяцев назад
Not nearly as many as the chanterelles are in it under oaks. The PO doesn't seem to like pines so much in my experience.
