Bought a carbonation lid a couple weeks ago and used it to force carb a batch of Lutra kveik lite lager. Pretty freaking sweet having perfectly carbonated beer in just a few hours versus the risk of over carbing it using the shake method.

Hi,have a quick question!im new to the kegging system, but after purchasing a kegerator and 2 cornys ! My bottled beer was way more clearer , had better carbonation!not sure! Wondering if it is that one step where just before bottling you add more surgar to give the yeast something to eat to give better carbonation! I viewed how to pour the perfect draft! Can’t even get close to an inch or even half an inch of head,I also bought the carbonation corny keg with the .5 stone!it’s been in kegerator for over 24 hours!has a good temperature,im driving at 15 psi co2! Kind of hoping for a easy fix !cause the whole reason for kegging was to get rid of bottling! Too much time consuming! Thanks for any help!

Nice video! I had one problem following your steps: When shaking Keg connected at 25-30 PSI, beer from Keg start to escape from Keg through the co2 hose to the co2 tank and I had to stop. Any clues what's happening or what I'm doing wrong?
@daved2403
@daved2403 Год назад
For that to happen the pressure in the tank would need to exceed the incoming pressure, so my guess is that by shaking up the keg, it increased the pressure in the tank beyond 30 psi.

DO NOT USE THE HOSE CLAMP ON THE AERATION STONE. Those crappy clamps are Galvanized Steel and will leech metals into your beer. @sanbe729
@sanbe729 Год назад
it helps speed up carbing to have slightly positive pressure on headpsace, like 12-15 psi . This helps keep co2 from escaping into headspace, especially when you first add pressure. another trick with these stones is to ramp up co2 over time, add 2 psi and wait 15min, then another 2psi and wait 15min and so on. that should be carbonated within an hour and half or so, good if you are home and have the time to make the adjustments. Kinda becomes similar timeline to the shake @ 30psi method but with the ability to truly set the intended Vol. of CO2.

Couldn't you just buy the stone and hose and connect to the corny kegs gas post? Or is there a reason to reconnect the CO2 back up without the stone to serve ?

OK - serious question this time: Once you are up to a good carbonation level, can you swap that lid out for a normal one or will that kill the carbonation level you just worked 4 hours getting to? My thought would be to carb your keg in 4 hours, then the next day use that same lid to carb another keg quickly.

I wouldn't to avoid oxygen. I'd just buy another one (or however many for how many beers you have on)

I swap mine out after carbing, I just blast co2 in before removing the lid,no issues.

I actually use this trick when I had a dip tube that was circumcised clogged up with trub. I changed out the post to a liquid post. Then put a floating dip on it saved my ass because I'd probably never would have got that beer out without it!

I've had nothing but problems with brewing hard seltzers. pH crashes no matter what I do to avoid them, sulfur/nasty tasting, stalled ferments, etc... Now I do vodka (cheap) with spring water (again...cheap grocery store brand) & some Olive Nation Extract along with a small dab of Splenda. Force carb overnight with this corny lid, & voila (which is French for "and then I found out"), you have hard seltzer. SWMBO happy...

Ok, time to go spend $25 bucks. Thanks for the video, by the way. I used to use the 30psi for 5 minutes method and I would often have over carbonated beer, but mostly chalked it up to my inability to count to 300. This is the carbonation control I need in my life!

Well sort of figured something out!,i had pin locks went to Amazon tried to order ball lock connectors for corny kegs!,it turns out there is ,two different types!and I without the knowledge of a tap and die worker wouldn’t think I would have to 18 many threads per inch on a 9/32 head!so I ordered the incorrect one,all correct but no were did it say corny keg,so I’m finding loss of co2, in the gas side!so hoping my beer will last a week in kegerator with out co2 to make it fresh and not stale!.well it’s gone of have to,I came this far!double ended staff I will succeed!how ever , to the DIY self person,Ild rather buy as one complete unit! Like kegerator,kegs, all proper posts,no surprises!unlike me myself and I order,try,reorder!more expense!shrimping ain’t easy!!lol
