How to Format a USB Flash Drive - NTFS / FAT32 / RAW

Mine took like over two hours on 128GB San Disk not sure if you were joking to say if takes 10 mins, but it took longer from FAT32 to NTFS. Thanks for the video, still works 7 years later.

Thank you for this it really solve my problem although there is one thing i must do before this, is when you cant active it if the flashdrive is not mbr so i change my FD from gpt to mbr so that i can active and format my FD. Thank you once again.

After did your all steps My USB not showing.. I hear a connect sound and my antivirus can able to scan the device but my USB is not diplaying what to do now..?

I'd like you to Format USBs (Flash) into NTFS to get a more optimized file system which supports files and Partitions larger than 4GB, unless you are also using a Mac environment, where Macs don't support writing data on NTFS drives, or what you are formatting on is an old flash usb with capacities below 2gb.

When I did create partition primary it gives me options like PARTITION, VOLUME and VDISK how do I choose PARTITION?

A question, if i may. I tried to fast format my usb.. took a lot of time. I then decided to do it normally. I forgot about it, i interrupted that format,took the usb out, when i put the usb in again, it makes a recognition sound, but it does not actually recognize it. I cannot format it nor enter the usb. hat shall i do? I think my usb is damaged beyond repair..

Iove you...Was trying to install a windows on my empry hard drive laptop and there was some error and I had to to clean the hard drive but somehow I selected the usb and I didn't know how to restore it..Thanks for the video mate liked n subbed!

Thanks; i've been using DISKPART since windows 95:-) however i got some errors today: DISKPART> clean DiskPart has encountered an error: Access is denied. See the System Event Log for more information. DISKPART> create partition primary DiskPart succeeded in creating the specified partition. DISKPART> format fs=ntfs DiskPart has encountered an error: The system cannot find the file specified. See the System Event Log for more information. So RUFUS did the job for me, with one single click :-)

I have a 16gb that shows as being 64gb. When trying to format using this I get "No usable free extent could be found, it may be there is insufficient free space to create a partition at the specified size and offset..." It lists 1 partition but can't select. Any ideas?

Hi there, I have followed your instruction to the letter but @format stage I get 0% completed, Virtual Disk Service Error, The Media is write protected. I have tried other ways to override write protection but to no avail. In computer management @ Disk 2 removable it says 29.30GB Read Only I'd be grateful for your help. Many thanks Ted

only my RAW should be 32gb sd, it only shows as 30MB... What to do? Put in frezer and all that. How about swipe with neodyn??

Fat32 is not supported for the selected volume ( sandisk) brand?????

Hi I've tried this method, but sadly still no luck :( I've got a 500gb flash drive and my default setting is exfat would like to change it to ntfs so my smart tv can recognize it. I've tried everything, don't have the "add nee volume option" either in disk management. Tried every method i've found on the internet so far PLEASE HELP :((

yeah, Ive done all of that and it don't work. My usb went from fat32 to raw and when you try to format it shows unable to format, disk may be corrupt,it shows RAW healthy prima But everything I've tried does not work. Including the cmd

For "format fs=fat 32" I get "virtual disk service error: The volume size is too small When I use "NTFS" I get disk part has encountered an error: The parameter is incorrect."
