Holy crap! this video was a god send. used O&O cloning program to make a new hard drive for my son's computer and it messed it up and created these partitions that i couldn't figure out how to delete. Your video really helped me out and thank you for this.
When I asked the "Universe" (Internet) how to initialise an SSD stick up popped this video. The beginning steps using Disk Part and Clean was my saviour. You saved me yet-another-trip to the computer store because the SSD stick was not appearing. Thanks mate.
4 years in the making ssd has been sitting in my computer unknownst to me with my harddrive booting up every game slowly day by day for 4 years straight thanks to you i have found freedom props go to you man
Thank you so much! I, like many others, couldn't get my SSD set up properly and you provided a clear, concise answer in a very friendly manner. I can finally use it as it was intended to be used.
Lil help? "Clean is not allowed on the disk containing the current boot, system, pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume." Would be very much appreciated thanks :)
This error message will appear because of hidden files or quarantined/ isolated files somewhere on your HDD that need admin approval to delete.. either that or its a system file you may need to make a 2nd copy of to be able to continue using windows... happy hunting
Thank you so very much! After reading tons of articles and a lot of videos, I was led to this outstanding and very thorough video. My SSD showed up in disk management but would not allow me to format it so you helped me to wipe it clean and start over. Thanks again! I have spent several days and many hours trying to resolve this issue. Seven minutes with your video and "BAM!" I can sleep now. Lol.
Thought I had a brick when I tried to reformat my new SamSung SSD because initially cloning left me with a drive that stalled/spun at windows startup. I tried reformatting by right clicking on drive in WIndows explorer. That failed and then windows was saying it couldn't recognize the drive or do anything with it. Your command line solution followed by formatting in Drive Manager did the trick. Tried cloning again and all is good. Thanks so much!
You're a life saver! Recently my drive got virus attack and the drive totally corrupted. Then i use Disk Drill software to recover what i can. Few files were corrupted but majority were okay. Then when i want to format the disk, it was unable to complete the format. Finally i jumped to this video and i can use my drive back! Thankyou sir!
This helped so much, I was searching for so long. This was the only actual tutorial that worked. You are an incredible human being, thank you for all that you do.
OMG!!! I have been having problems forever and finally found your video. Thank Goodness as IT WORKED!!!! I can't believe the hours of RU-vid videos I have watched and you fixed it in 5 minutes. THANK YOU!!!!!
Ohhh man....you saved...me......my ssd got finally formatted....thanks man ......every other man in youtube just said the same thing....but you told us a new thing.....thanks man....appreciate it........love ya
Thank you for this. I'd formatted my new ssd externally and couldn't figure out why it wasn't showing when I hooked it up internally and was formatted as MBR. This fixed it for me
For those are using Windows 11, it's the same steps. I can confirm it because I've been trying to format my damn hard disk for months and this guy helped me
I see a few comments saying it doesn't work. That's usually because diskpart detects what it thinks are files from an OS. You won't be able to clean from within windows with diskpart. If you have this error instead create a bootable USB windows installer. Boot from this USB stick and instead of starting a windows install go into repair my computer and then command prompt and perform the operations there (diskpart > select the right disk > clean > create partition primary > format > assign).
hi, i find your video to be very informative. And recently my SSD got corrupted and following the steps shown in the video towards the point of "clean" command i got an incorrect function error on disk part both volumes and disk cant be cleaned with CMD usage are there alternative step to take upon this?
I was hoping this video would help me but alas. I took an old ssd out of a machine and I cannot clean it. I have gone through this process a few times. I initialise the disk, assign a drive letter, and it still has all the old file system folders in tact. Cannot format it at all. Any advice?
Many thanks for creating this tech vid, after wasting hours on multiple different OS's your veered resolve my problem within a few minutes. Owe you a beer 🙂
It doesn't really work if your drive can't be mounted and it's locked in "read only" mode. There are additional steps in disabling write-protection before you can erase the drive.
thanks for the help, I have already checked many methods, but nothing helps to solve the problem after the format, everything given is returned back to the ssd, there are no bad sectors on the disk, the system is Windows 10, it is probably hardwired onto the disks
Not working for a Kingston SSD. All files just reappear after delete, format, clean wipe, delete partition or whatever you can think of. Everything finishes with no errors except formatting, but at the end the disk looks exactly the same. Broken?
I searched many websites for information. But it couldn't help me. Until I watch this, this easy-to-understand and concise video. Thank you very much! 👏
Can I use this method to format a specific volume on the hard drive? my old hard drive has a windows install which messes with my PC boot but I don't want to format the entire hard drive
Thanks a lot for the video! I kept getting an error every time I tried to clean the disk but putting in "list volume" told me what to do. Didn't see that anywhere else, so it was very helpful!
My system responded with "diskpart has encountered an error: The media is write protected. See the system Event Log for more information" I'll keep looking for solutions but thank you for sharing this with us!
Grateful to this video of yours. Really it's a Life-saver with such eay and simple to follow method and intuitive style of yours. Thank you very much. Great Job.
Run your CMD with Administrator privileges then type run the following commands: :diskpart :list disk :select disk X (Replace X with the hard drive you want to clean) :clean
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH I JUST SPENT HOURS I MEAN HOURS UPON HOURS TRYING TO GET MY SSD TO CONNECT AND HERE YOU GO AND FIX IT IN LESS THEN 5 MINUTES 🎉🎉🎉😂
Thanks a ton!! My external HDD crashed and No backup recovery cleaner tool worked. Windows CMD the best of all. Just what I was searching for. All data lost but at least HDD works now.
