Since most iPhone users don't stray from iOS they usually upgrade from an iPhone to a newer iPhone. When they do this, things like photos, app data, and a tons of other things are synced and then transferred directly to the new phone. Combine this with the fact that most users don't upgrade their storage when buying their next iPhone and you can see how we have a pretty easy recipe for running out of space pretty quickly.
Luckily you can free up space on your iPhone with a few simple steps. Things like making sure you aren't saving duplicate photos (Instagram is notorious for this), saving photos to the cloud automatically so you can delete old ones from the phone without fear of losing them forever, as well as cleaning up some app data and caches that are just taking up space for no good reason.
So let's see how we can free up storage space on your iPhone and how we can put things in place to make it far less often you'll need to do this purging.

delete apps. if you have many photos after you install it: it'll be worth it because photos are taking space and the more you get it will stay in google photos.

You have to delete the photos that are in the Apple Photos app and then delete all the photos in the Apple Photos Deleted Folder. Of course, after you've backed up to the cloud through Google Photos.

The ‘other’ category stands for the system itself, meaning what the phone needs to actually RUN and function. All phones and devices have this. Can’t have a device that doesn’t have the programs it needs to make itself work!

Joel Sanchez Other is just left over system junk. All you have to do is... Do an iCloud backup, then erase all content and settings (Factory reset). I did it and cut the "other" in half.

Minguri, No, it sends them to a cloud. Try sending your photos to your email account, and then delete them from the phone. Don’t forget to clear them from the “deleted” file. Videos take up a lot of space; so do messages if you don’t delete those. Send the videos to yourself by email; you can always access them.

Oh wow, I had downloaded Google Photos before all those “full storage” things showed up and still, even after deleting the photos (from deleted items folder as well) the pop up keeps showing up. And the camera app doesn’t work anymore, it’s just a black screen. I’m pretty sure apple does this so you keep buying things from them😤😕 Just like how they slow down old phones🙃

TheUnlockr I've been having issues with full memory eveN though I deleted over 1000 pics and about 50 vids from my 64gb iPhone, so now I checked storage and showed still had 29g of pics which is ridiculous. Anyway I'm am currently following your directions and I've just checked: Google pics only have 150 pics left to back up, I've been removing backed up pics from recently deleted but still when i check memory it says 27gb of pics!! This is so frustrating! Few days ago any pic I took wasn't saving onto phone had to go on laptop to see, could it be I have some pics and vids hiding somewhere? I've tried the manually changing time and date trick but nothing seems to be working! What should I do?

It's because when the delete photos on iphone it doesn't actually delete them but just archives them until you delete them permanently in the trash folder so once all backed up you go to trash folder and press delete, free up a mountain of space then in settings state that you always want to permanently delete photos rather than archiving them in future, then you'll never have this issue again - it's videos like this that proves why APPLE PHONES & IOS ARE STUPID, Android or Linux all the way!!

At 3:25 he says that in the iOS Photos, you have to tap each folder individually. I don't know when they made this change but you can tap drag from left to right going down or right to left going up and it will lett you quickly put checkmarks on your pictures. It is actually as fast as you want it depending on how much you pull to the left or right going up or down. Just thought I would let you know.

Also if you recently deleted videos or photos go to photos, and at the top left, it will say albums. Click that and scroll down to the bottom and you should see recently deleted. It will have all your deleted photos and videos so just deleted those and it should free up a bit of storage. I did this and got 5 gigs of storage more.

Malicious muffin just so you know, when u delete anything, it is NEVER *Truely* gone. they just back up cashe and shit to your phone in the “other” section. so there is no use.

comedy cole Make sure you have deleted the photos from "Recently Deleted". Until you delete it from there, the photos have just been 'relocated'

Don't forget "system" it can use a ton of storage if you restore your backup on to your new device and upgrade iOS over time... It ate up nearly 30GB on my phone. Google for "ios iPhone system storage usage" you'll find plenty guides on "how to reduce", I got it down from 30+ GB to 1.6GB .

The easiest way to free up memory on my iPhone is first go to iTunes and select movies once you in the movies tab select any movie and just rent it but first make sure your memory is not enough to download it and the once you press rent that pop message will appear said your memory isn't enough just click. OK and open multitasking and swiped up iTunes and now go to settings and check your memory is increasing yeayy May it help😊

You can delete photos a little bit faster than that. Hit select, tap and drag and it’ll select the photos faster.

You can transfer all your photos to a pc/laptop/other storage device like a flash drive then factory reset the phone. All photos will be gone and you can just re save your home/lock screen put in your passwords redownload the few apps you use and then you have all your storage available again.

I also use a second option to download my pictures beside Google Photos and that is Shutterfly. It’s a free app, but it only allows you to save unlimited photos, but not videos.

Yes. If you use google chrome and are logged in they can just go to google photos website and see your photos.
