My name is David and with my dog Lefty we live full time in our converted ambulance RV. I made this change to my 'standard' life and you can too! Like, subscribe and comment - Lefty would appreciate it - he wants the adventures to keep coming!
The Campulance is a 2002 Ford E450 Marque Commando 164 Class III ambulance powered by the Ford 7.3l Powerstroke diesel engine and a 4 speed transmission. Lefty is a 65lb Staffordshire Terrier (best I can tell) that came from the Verona Street Animal Shelter in March 2014 at the age of 9 months. We have been living full time in the campulance since July 2019.

Hi David and Lefty! I threw a a couple of codes P1211 and P1280. I remembered watching this video from you last summer. Watched it again and dove into my 2001 7.3 Ambo and replaced the IPC sensor and while I was at it I did the fuel filter. Man that fixed it right up. Cleared the codes and I am running great now! Thanks for the video and you guys enjoy your selves down south this winter. Steve and Liz in Boise.

Arkansas; my rig went into “Reduced Power Mode” in Missouri just north of Arkansas where I was headed. Needless to say, I learned a hard lesson...after a dealership “repaired” my rig a few hours on my way back north and guess what; it went back into “Reduced Power Mode”. What I actually gained was two oil leaks and a coolant leak along with a vibration noise and a huge bill... I plan to look into the issue myself and I’m betting that it is the fuel rail pressure switch or the fuel rail pressure regulator; both cheap easy fixes...I’m learning this newer computer controlled diesel 😉

Hey campulance man! Good job getting in there! These engines really aren't terrible to work on in the vans as far as I can tell either. Except for doing injectors I suppose. I have a 01 e350 ambulance with a 7.3. That air box on top of the engine in front of the turbo takes up a ton of space and blocks the view of alot of stuff in there. I took mine right out and plugged the hole in the air intake tube going to it. Makes changing the fuel filter much easier and gives a good view of the valley and all the fuel and oil lines in the valley from the back. You may want to consider removing it. Its called the intake resonator. I haven't noticed any sound change after removing mine. Keep up the great videos! Lefty is such a good boy!!

If I may suggest, it is usually better to test any component to see if it's bad before installing a new part. In this case the part.was probably cheap enough that it wouldn't hurt to bad if that was not the problem, but it can get pricey in a hurry if you start replacing perfectly good parts only to find later the problem was a bad ground or something.
@TheCampulanceMan

Good tip - Firing the parts cannon at it can get costy!

Hey David..I've found on my rig..yes the vans are a pain to work on but most things just take longer. Mine is the same..take the airbox & air intake hose and it's amazing how much room there is. Actually..you really can't do much without removing it..lol. Don't feel bad about putting that repair off for so long..the fan switch on mine hasn't worked properly for several years. Mostly works on high and just recently only on high. Looks like it's probably the blower motor resistor and it isn't too tough of a job. Better late than never huh..lol.

Now that the price of diesel is mental, have you ever given any thought to swapping the duallys for super singles? Less rolling resistance, burn less diesel, lighter weight, and they are better in off road applications too, I think they tend to do far better in the sand than duallys. Everybody loves fat tires!

Any time you start with raw potatoes you should dice them small and start cooking them first until they start getting soft then put in your other ingredients. The reason for this is because it takes a while to cook raw potatoes and you want to make sure they are not hard, soft to the bite, and cooked inside.
