Our GE Profile fridge of over 10 years ran into this problem. We honestly thought of just buying a new fridge but then came across this video. It was so well-done that it gave us the confidence to fix it ourselves for the price of the part plus our own sweat and tears (but actually it didn't come to that LOL). Saved us a good chunk of cash and so here's to the next 10 years of our fridge! Thank you very very much!
Thanks for the video. I just replaced the tank tonight thanks to the video. One tip I suggest is to test the water dispenser prior to buttoning everything back up to ensure there aren't any leaks. I didn't have any leaks but would've been very annoyed if I had to do a bunch of extra work. To get the water to come out the dispenser again, you just need to keep holding down the actuator/lever until the water comes out. There's a decent amount of tubing that the water has to travel through plus fill the tank you just replaced before it'll come out. The water stream is nice and smooth with strong flow now. Very happy about this repair. Cheers!
Very clear and concise Diana! Waiting for the part to arrive but after watching your tutorial, I think it will be a snap. Thanks for taking the time to help us! Service calls are just to darn expensive!
Replacement video made quick work of the installation. thanks. but when i went to dispense water i heard the dispenser running to fill tank but then it stopped. I can't hear motor running. no water dispensing. thoughts? when i depress water dispenser i can hear a slight click in the back of the fridge.
Great clip all went well Until we pulled water... Eventhough after clipping againg the tube and pushing it in the quick rease again it does not stop leaking any ideas what could resolve the problem?
Does anyone have thoughts on bypassing the reservoir? Our reservoir started leaking. We don't prefer chilled water, and it's better to avoid storing drinking water in plastic if possible. For both of those reasons, instead of buying a new reservoir, I'm planning on bypassing it. I'll remove the pipe going from the valve to the reservoir. Then, I'll cut the pipe going from the reservoir to the water dispenser near the reservoir and connect it to the valve where the previous pipe was connected.
While installing the smaller tube back into the valve, I couldn’t get it in without putting a little kink in the tube. Water flows fine, but is this something I should worry about and the tube will break?
There is no mention that both tubings have an inner small plastic that must be removed before re-connecting. I wasted so much time testing so many different things, reviewing videos etc. I removed water inlet valve and took to a technician for testing if it was defective, not defective. Finally I watched another video on how to replace water tank and it was clearly mention to remove the inner ends of tube before connecting. That solved my no water into refrigerator and now I have water coming out of dispenser. I hope video will be updated so others do not go through what I went through.
we followed the instructions completely, and the water reservoir filled when we pushed on the the water dispenser, but no water ever came out at the door. Both plugs were removed during installation, so that can not be the issue. what else could be the problem that we are not getting water to the dispenser?
We'd be happy to help you out with that! We offer free technical advice and diagnosis. You can give us a call at 1-877-477-7278 or you can chat us at our website: www.appliancepartspros.com/. Of course. I wouldn't say it's necessary, it's just to give you more room to work. If you were to hit your head on a shelf, knock out out and break it, that would just be one more thing to replace. Hope that helps!
Here is a list for all the parts on the model we used in this video: www.appliancepartspros.com/parts-for-ge-gss25qgtaww.html This should help you find the part you're looking for.
+AppliancePartsPros Not sure what Diana means but I have the same question if that makes any sense. I just followed this exactly and the water is not working. I took out the water filter and it it seems that water is getting that far as water started to spray out when I did that. Not sure if I might have a problem with my filter or with the refrigerator water valves.
