How to Generate a Random List of Names Based On Set List of Names in Google Sheets/Excel

Given this list of 90s TV characters, how would you generate a random list of characters in Google Sheets or Excel? You can utilize a combination of the RAND(), VLOOKUP(), SORT(), and OFFSET() functions to make this work. You can enter in the number of random names you want in cell H1 and a list will pop up with that number of names. I just have to say. Your the best and very thorough in explaining steps and what they mean. I'm a Java noob and its been a struggle to say the least. But your videos are very easy to understand and I can actually understand what is going on and why. I spend hours and hours every day still trying to figure the method to go about completing my first script.

I have wanted to do something like this since watching other consultants in my small business group do random name drawings when a number of people have multiple entries. Hi this is cool! Ive used it in a D&D game. I wanted Random Townsfolk to go to Random Locations, doing random things like selling, chatting, arguing, at home or working etc. Thats fun... i now have 26 residents doing random stuff every time i type a letter into another cell. AWESOME!!! that will keep those pesky adventurers guessing where they are AND give a bit of life to the town. [Slugfry Tom the Herbalist] [is at Snot Goblin Inn] [Looks Happy]

I have about 750 names in a spreadsheet but have been needing a way to randomly select 100 of them to go onto the final selection process. ok so I've been trying to random sentence generator... any help with that? I love the video. im not sure what the extra entries are for after the absolutes look ups? the display on the row and columns?

Hi, if we have another column next to names for example a first and surname split up can we get the random list to then create the 2 seperate columns? I have name, age and height for example and need all 3 to show in the random list - many thanks.

could you make the names go across columns instead of in rows. For example I wanted 5 random names from the list in f-j with no duplicates?

i want to use 50- 100 names, and have them all randomly mixed up in groups of 5 or 10 names per group if 50 names and 10 -20 names per group if 100 names is this possible?
