Linkage!!! Sorry for my grammar mistakes I am from Europe but I live here in USA, and just to let you know, I was working on the car and 3 mans was standing and making video how I am fixing my car, because they don't believe in them eyes that Woman can do it, they don't even know how to pop the hood on my car!!! They just say you are one of the king lady, we are so proud of you :)))
God bless you - you saved us a bill and a half. The lever looked just like in the video - I used a thin length of bamboo as my screw driver didn't quite fit. Pushed the lever forward - more sort of feel the tension on the lever as it moves a bit, than a see the lever move as the space is really tight. The shift lever unstuck, and I ran it through it's detents and then returned it to park. Car starts, and does all the stuff that it supposed to do - like drive.
Glad to help. Sometimes the shifter cables get worn out and when you put it in park the transmission will be in park but the switch on the transmission doesn’t engage all the way the computer doesn’t realize it’s in park. A lot of the times I move the shifter into neutral and try starting the vehicle and most time the car will start right up. The vehicles can only start in park or neutral.
I locked my car up getting home last night. I was confused when it started rolling down the hill 🤣. You turned me thinking I had to get a new car into me about to head the gym this morning. Appreciate this video!

Awesome ! This video helped me out with my 2016 Ford Fusion ! Mine didn’t pop out but only came out a little similar to yours but still appreciate it. I was able to move my car with ease.
Thanks for the information, but it's absolutely ridiculous that Ford does this. There should be a regulation on this and it should be an easy to reach location or a button underneath a panel that you can open with the key.

Just towed a 2016 Ford Fusion thought this video would help but come to find out the linkage came off from transmission so I had to pop the hood and maunally had to put it in nuetral
Thank you so much for this! I thought I was about to be stranded in Manhattan during the pandemic, but with this video I was able to get home to Brooklyn. Now the car is stuck in neutral parked with the parking break and I need to figure out what to do next. I know there is a recall for this issue, but getting to a Ford dealer during a pandemic sounds like a nightmare.
There’s no manual release for the parking brakes. You would have to use a portable jump pack or jumper cables to feed the car power then take off the brakes.

@@EataPeachMike that’s what I thought it would be. It happens a lot to a few vehicles. The bushing gets worn out. I believe they sell those bushings at an auto parts store and you can replace them yourself. Glad you found the issue.
My 2016 ford fusion while driving on highway all of a sudden shows transmission not in park, car slows down and stop. I put it in park starts the car again and it started and drove fine until a couple of days later and it did it again. what do you think is happening here.
Car was stuck in reverse with the shifter in park. Released using this method but now it won't we engage any gears. How do you get it to go back in gear?
@@latoyakelley9259 you’re welcome. Sometimes the cables pop off. There’s a bushing that gets worn out. If it’s that, I believe they have a kit at the auto parts store to repair it.
@TowMan127 Yes, sir! That's exactly what it was; after looking under the hood. The shifter cable was off & the bushing was missing. After researching, I found that it was a recall on this model for the bushings; luckily, there's a Ford dealership about 20 minutes from here. We'll take it there & let them replace the cable, as well as the bushing.
I actually got the car to go into park and reverse I was able to drive the car around the corner when I got home I place the car in park and tried to move through the shifts to make sure it worked properly & now my car is currently stuck in sport mode and will not crank at all
The dumbass who tried to tow my car this morning shoulda watched this before fucking with my cable under the hood. Now it won't shift into "S" and I gotta move it 2 times just to get from "R" to "D"
I put the vehicle in park, when I went to put it on drive it wouldn't budge, but it was reading reverse. so I turned the vehicle off and tried to turn it on, n it does not turn on. now the vehicle is stuck on reverse....HELP
2014 has the same setup, but cant for the life of me find out how to disable that EPB (electronic parking brake) without the keys, great i guess to make a repo company work harder if the car is up for repo, but at that rate wouldnt they just do what is shown in the video to put it in neutral and just tow the car from the back?
Tyesha Atlas weird might have to disconnect the linkage under the hood and manually change the gear. (If you do that make sure the parking brake is on) i dont like doing the linkage for safety reasons. Maybe the release button isn't working
