I have a question, which one would be better for "Depth of Field" the 1. Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens OR 2. Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens? Please, I really need help with that. I want to buy the best one for my youtube videos. Thanks for your time! Have a great day. 😀

Dude, totally confusing. What I needed was, "do this", "set this thing to here", then go into this setting and choose this". Maybe you can do another video that is easier to follow and more to the point.

Hi Sean, I'm thinking of ordering the canon m6 mark ii to start my RU-vid Channel. It comes with 'EF-M 15-45 mm' lens. Will this give me shallow depth of field like you have going on in this video?

How to background blurry panasonic hc . Pv 100 .plz
@ThinboxStudios
@ThinboxStudios 7 лет назад
To summarize for anyone that's still is a little confused: The shallower the depth of field is the blurrier the background will be. The wider the aperture= a narrower depth of focus which = a blurred background Three main factors that will affect how you control the depth of field of your images are: aperture (f-stop), distance from the subject to the camera, and focal length of the lens on your camera. The closer your subject is to the camera, the shallower your depth of field becomes(aka more blurry background).This also means that a longer lens=a more blurry background, Therefore, moving further away from your subject will deepen your depth of field(aka background and you are in focus). The Greater the distance between the subject and the background the more blurry it will be. If you are a beginner with a DSLR there are some simple ways you can control depth of field and still use and automatic shooting mode. By choosing Aperture Priority mode you can set your aperture to get the depth of field that you want, and the camera will automatically set the shutter speed. Aperture refers to the access given to light from the lens to the camera sensors. The size of your aperture (the diameter of the hole through which light enters the camera) controls the amount of light entering your lens. Using the aperture (f-stop) of your lens is the simplest way to control your depth of field as you set up your shot. Large aperture = Small f-number = Shallow (small) depth of field Small aperture = Larger f-number = Deeper (larger) depth of field It may be easier to remember this simple concept: The lower your f-number, the smaller your depth of field(more blurry background). Likewise, the higher your f-number, the larger your depth of field(less blurry background). For example, using a setting of f/2.8 will produce a very shallow depth of field while f/11 will produce a deeper DoF. Hopefully this helps some people out :)

Lower the aperture = higher the light enters which allows higher shutter speed and lower ISO means the object comes into focus and the object in distance blurred because of low light from them due to high shutter speed and low ISO, due to which blurred effect occurs. i hope m right

I use the "nifty 50" lens you showed in all my vids. My background is only slightly blurry because my room is small but it still helps and looks more polished than the kit lens. I'm about 6 feet from the lens and about 8 feet from the back corner of the shot. Thanks for all the coaching, Sean.

@@sunsetpaths2972 I am brand new at using a DLSR. I had no idea you had to be that far away and have that much distance for the background to do this effectively. It's crazy because I can take photos all day long with much smaller distances. Back to the drawing board for me! Great video tutorials btw.
