Hello Josh, I’m from Nigeria, and it looks like you are from Nigeria too. I need help with how to find interest in any area in Tech. I don’t really have a Bachelors.
Hello Josh, im 47 years old and looking for a career change, im deciding between cyber security or cloud computing, can you please tell which would be the better choice if my end goal is to work remote in the It field?
I always wanted to get my degree so my mom could watch me "walk" and get my diploma. I was not able to graduate with my high school class because I took it too easy my senior year. I am 64 years old and my mom is 91. Your video has given me hope that I can still get my degree and make my mom proud! Thank you.
Super glad to hear it! Best of luck if you decide to pursue it :). I actually never walked for anything either, especially high school I actually dropped out when I was 15, hah! Thanks for watching :)
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video you made a year ago. I watched it while I was pondering whether to get a Medical Coding degree, the school I was planning to go to didn't require a High School diploma (I graduated High School in Latin America and my HS diploma is not valid in USA). But, after watching your video I decided to research WGU and found out they had an Academy! And if you pass their 3 month course (a lot of people finish within a month tbh), you have guaranteed admission to WGU. So that's what I did! I'm on my way to getting my Business Administration Degree! And although I won't finish in 6 months, it'll definitely take less than a regular college, and that way I won't accumulate student debt. I only have to thank YOU for it. May God bless you in everything you do. 🤗 THANK YOU!! Btw, after my husband saw me going fast in WGU, he decided to enroll too! Previously he only had an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, now he's enrolled in WGU to be a programmer! 😃
Everyone! Currently I am taking classes at WGU for business management. What my man Josh shows is a legit way to get done quick, and its doable! Each class for me has several exams which can be fully completed within 4-5 days, "If you are a slacker like me". I love WGU and it is the best college for versatility, low cost, and quick careers!
That's the exact degree I'm looking into doing at WGU, but I'm totally procrasting cuz I'm worried about the added stress. This has totally made me feel better. 👍🤘
This inspired me to get a degree. as a member of an Asian family that not having a degree is a disgrace. this video is really helpful. Thank you! by the way, I'm getting a bachelor's not because of my family but it's for my own dream :)
In the same boat with you!! But I wasted so much money and time in schools near me...and considering majors that I was not into. Then gave up...and comparison continued with neighbors kids, relatives, cousins...name it people I never met lol But finally in wgu and bec of this guy and couple other youtubers inspired me to give it a try...and after transferring all those classes...now I only need 18 credits to graduate. Not sure if I want to share it with family yet...I am thinking of once I get the job and maybe casually will say "I got the degree on IT management from wgu and now working on MBA there as well...not a big deal! And yes it's a legit school. "
It’s crazy to hear different family expectations. I hope you get that degree!!! I want to start something online and try it out. It can only open up more doors for me as well as you.
I start my Bachelors in I.T Management with WGU on April 1st , I watched all your WGU related videos and found them extremely helpful. Now I’m back on track to graduate thanks to your informative videos ☺️ Also I’m definitely trying to beat your 5 month time lol Thanksss ✌🏽
Thank you for the video, Josh. It is definitely doable! CREDITS TRANSFERRED AND COMPLETED: I transferred 39 Credit Unities. I finished 81 Credit unities. I average 1.6 classes per week! After watching your video I decided to pursue BSBA-Information Technology Management. I started it in March and I passed the final capstone today. The course is 100% completed, while I was working two jobs, and having to help my wife with our two kids (1 and 3 years old). I still have 8 weeks left, even though I took two weeks and a half off. One week I had a work-related trip, the second week, I decided to take a must-needed vacation. Your personal experience plays an important role BUT this is not the main factor. On the other hand, your internal locus of control is. Once you start your term, you are the only variant standing between you and your degree.
Thanks so much for sharing! Massive congrats--that's totally awesome. I will pin this for a while. I think what you said is spot on about YOU being the variant--it's really nice to take control of your own timeline.
@@MariaJose-zv4dq the guy in the video isn’t lying. WGU is a at your pace learning school. So it’s more or so his choice if he takes 4 years to complete his schooling.
@@MariaJose-zv4dqNo no, that’s not what he said. He said doing 4 years and being so much in debt sucks. He separated what he said initially with the second statement, they don’t go together.
I got my MBA there in 5 months. I got my BS in HC Mgmt in 2 years. It’s super easy because once you finish the Bachelors you get your strategy down and you get the foundation. The masters just builds on your foundation. If you’re motivated you can breeze.
Hello 👋 Have the degrees been helpful in finding employment in your field? Did they open any doors or help you come in at a higher salary? Hope these questions find you in a great mood. Please reply if you have time. Blessings!
You completed the program in 12 DAYS?! Dude, you are legend. Congrats btw. Enrolled starting Feb 1st. Definitely gave me a roadmap to finish, and confidence that it’s achievable in 1 term. Appreciate the video!
@@JoshMadakor I did! I have a finance background but have a few certifications. Wanted to get MSCSIA to stay competitive. Already studying for CEH, CHFI before enrolling. Good luck on your Comp Sci major, that PhD from DSU looks pretty cool, man. Don’t think I can knock out this MS in 12 days because of work, but you have given me hope that it’s achievable in 1 term. My motivation is mostly that I am a cheapskate, lol.
Hey everybody. I’m still enrolled but mostly because I got the promotion I wanted and focused my priorities accordingly. The Masters became secondary. My main motivation was to be more competitive, and I ended up getting the job I wanted without the degree, lol. (Promoted 2 months after initially enrolling.) That being said , I still plan to graduate. It’s still definitely doable if you focus and follow Josh’s advice. I have 1 class left and the capstone to complete.
⭐ Quick announcement ⭐ Lots of people are asking me about how many credits I transferred into my bachelors. I transferred in 56 out of 121: i.imgur.com/k6smjPI.jpg I ended up finishing in about 5.5 months, but I didn't realize how to "accelerate" until after about 3 months. I originally thought I brought in like 30 credits, but I realized it was more after digging up my transcript (see above). For the MS, unfortunately I couldn't transfer in any credits even though I had CISSP. Also, If you're waiting to start your program, but you want to make your spreadsheet on which classes have objective assessments and which ones have performance assessments, you just have to use your ninja Googling skills to figure it out. For example, if you want to figure out the course code and exam type (OA vs PA) for the course "Secure Software Design", I'd do the following Google search: "Secure Software Design" site:wgu.edu filetype:pdf This will usually yield some kind of internal WGU documents describing the course, that usually disclose the course code as well as what is required to pass the course (OA vs PA, or both). I hope this helps!!
I really think you for this video, I’ve been wanting to go back to school but due to everything I’ve been really debating and have so much I want to do. I really appreciate it. Good luck to me🙌🏾
If you can find the time and resources, it's nice to get the box checked off before you get too many other things grabbing at your time. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, and best of luck if you decide to go through with it :)
After your videos and posts, I finished WGU's MSCSIA in 32 days while working full-time and so sick I was nearly bedridden. (Don't worry, I'm feeling better!) Finishing that quickly shocked my employer and immediately began discussions about moving into management way earlier than I would have otherwise. The #1 piece of advice I would give is: If someone has already gotten their CISSP, this is a VERY efficient value-add. Most of the material is covered by CISSP, and you'll sail through.
Huge congrats! That's remarkable! I'm sorry that you were sick, but I'm glad you're doing better now. Also congrats on the potential promotion. *REALLY* solid advice about having CISSP. I 100% agree with this.
Just applied for my Masters in Elementary Education. I planned on being done in about a yr and a half, but thanks to you, maybe it will be less time than that!!!
Been thinking about going back to school to finish getting my bachelors but was sooo worried about my age and the time it would take . You have definitely provided with an option that I didn’t even know was possible !! Now my son can see me Graduate !! 👩🎓I appreciate you sir 🙏🏾 #Subbed
I just signed up for the MBA IT Management degree and my thought process was similar to yours. I chose this degree because it was the only one that didn't require certs as apart of the curriculum. Plus, I already have the ITIL and Security+ so I understand how challenging it is to pass certifications. Personally, I rather go to a bootcamp and get a cert and just do the course work for a degree. But thank you for sharing your experience. I'm registered to start WGU in January 2021.
@@nogoogle6349 This information is listed on WGU's website: www.wgu.edu/online-degree-programs.html. You can filter by the field that you want your degree in and select "More Details". Once you do, there's navigation on the left side for checking out the cost & their recommended time, as well as other information, such as the courses required for the degree.
I am not going for an IT degree however I am going for a. Accountant degree and your templates have helped me soooo much. I am now halfway complete and still have more than 4 months left 🖤🖤🖤love from Nebraska
This is great. I'm getting ready to go for a bachelor's in cloud computing at WGU and I was looking for resources to help me know what to expect. This was such great information, and I'll definitely be applying it to help me get my degree as fast as possible (even though there's a bunch of 3rd party certs). Liked and subbed 👍
This really is the school for me. A co worker told me about it and I just knew I needed to transfer. With a busy work schedule and a busy life, I needed to be able to schedule school around those things. While that might not work for everyone, it has worked for me and I still have the time and money to enjoy other things.
I owe you a night out on the town for drinks once I've completed my degree and shit goes back to some norm of society. Thanks for sharing and I'm uber excited to implement this strategy.
Good job Josh! Very useful information. I still remember when you were playing with RAID config and sticking pencils in between HDDs :) Good old EDCC days.
Hey Josh! I randomly saw this video one night last April. The next day I decided to call WGU. I passed my last class tonight! Thank you! You changed my life!
Thanks for this video. I'm starting the bachelors in nursing and only have 33 CUs to complete. I was nervous about not completing in 6 months but with your strategy (which I will be implementing) I now know I can do it!
Awesome! Good for you and good luck :) You can also search for courses and reddit to research other people's experience for that specific course. For ex, you can google like wgu "course name" site:reddit.com Hope this helps, and good luck with your BSN!
@@JoshMadakor This is just the video that I needed to see!!! Congrats on such auspicious accomplishments !!! Do you have a link that you can share for their degrees and cost?
Thanks Josh. Im about to finish up my AA in IT and i've been looking at WGU. The way that you describe the test taking is fairly similar to what im doing in my college right now. I'll be checking WGU out and hoping they accept a good chunk of my units.
Josh!!! You are my hero!!!Thank you thank you Thank you sooo much for this video. I just applied at WGU for the BS in ITM. I am going to use your strategy to get my degree.
I'm starting my MA in Teaching in Feb. There's no way I can finish in 6 months, but I'm pretty confident I can condense 3 terms into 2 using your tips. Thanks!
My wife is starting her MAT in March and she is in the same boat. I'm confident she will be able to condense 3 terms into 2. You got this and good luck!
Been thinking about how I never got my degree because I didn't know what I wanted to do... Now that I do, seeing everyone I went to highschool with graduating made me feel a little bad. But this video is excellent. Thank you. Makes me feel like I can catch up on lost time, and use the knowledge I've gained over these years to get this Bachelor's! Cheers 🥂
@@Beveyboygames I got a job as a Security Analyst thanks to Josh. He has a video saying pathway to give the best chance of breaking into the industry and it worked. My father passed away so I put school on the back burner, and although school isn't the most necessary now I have experience, I do still want to finish.
I’m on my second term with WGU, and I’m getting my bachelors in Elementary Education. I got 6 classes done in the first term, and I’m hoping to keep that up. You start with 4, so I was really happy to get extra done
Thank mate this is more compatible with my ADHD brain I can stare at HEX and Binary packets all day long and ID protocols but discussion boards are my biggest nemesis.
I'm here from another one of your videos. I've finished classes for my Associate's in a matter of a few days as well, you remind me a lot of myself except more experienced.
Thank you for your videos and tips! I started July 1st for BSBAM and have already passed 14 classes and waiting on 2 more to be evaluated. Once I pass those I have 12 classes left!
Thank you so much for this ispiring information. I got married with am American, and suddenly it made me into an "immigrant" status which I didn't expect my life this way. I left my job & my family to start over my new life. I am not young, so I can't take a few years to get a new degree that is effective in this land. Your video helped my life a lot!
I'm glad it was helpful. Even though I'm a citizen here, I feel the same way. I don't want to spend years to do something that should be able to be completed in less than a year, haha. Best of luck, and thanks for watching :)
I’m starting the cybersecurity bachelors degree and it’s like 15 certs, but this is quite helpful and something I plan to use for all those easier classes, if I can save myself that much time just doing pre assessment and studying what I need to then taking the test or doing my essay and submitting it, that will make a big difference.
@@ClassicPhysique27 not as far as I would like I planned to be halfway rn but life got in the way, but I’m about 30% through so not bad, hoping to finish within a year to year and a half
Hey Solomon! thanks so much for watching, I really appreciate it. Thomas Edison State University might be worth looking into. It looks like they take all those credits from Study(.)com, sophia(.)org, straighterline, etc. so the program can be greatly accelerated. Also, they seem to accept international students as well. International Students: www.tesu.edu/admissions/apply-international-student BS IT: www.tesu.edu/ast/programs/bs/it MS IT: www.tesu.edu/ast/programs/msit One of my viewers also said this about it: "I'm actually leaning towards the Thomas Edison State University B.A. in Computer Science now instead of WGU. Reason being is you can transfer up to 114 credits. They allow up to 90 ACE credits (Study, StraighterLine, Sophia, etc). The other 24 credits need to be from Universities or Community Colleges which isn't a problem for me as I already have that. Then you must complete 6 credits with them. I would do their Software Engineering class and Capstone and get a Bachelors. It's a public non-profit regionally accredited university in New Jersey. Those two classes and "Residency Waiver" will be about 6 grand out of pocket, but not a big deal. As for Bachelor of "Arts" or "Science", no employer cares. I researched on LinkedIn and people with this TESU C.S. degree are mostly all Software Engineers currently. Thank god for LinkedIn, such a useful research tool. I can send you that spreadsheet too whenever I am done with it. " Hope this helps!!!
I am so happy to find your video, I have been procrastinating to get my degree, inorder for me to be promoted at my job, I need a degree, so I am taking the chances, and follow your strategy, and tell myself I deserve to have my degree. Thank you....
Thank you for all the tips. I'll be starting my BS on Feb 1st and I would like to get it done in no more than a year. I'm transferring over 40 credits so I think it will be doable.
Absolutely less than a year. Just prioritize well, plan, and be strategic about the classes :). Which BS is it btw? I Feel like the compsci BS takes the longest.
Kinda wish I discovered you before going with the online schooling I did that takes nearly two years just for an associate's degree. Not sure how great I would be at relying on myself to do all the studying myself without having a solid guideline on when to study and get the work done. I'm quite the procastinator, but your videos are helping me overcome my fear of entering the IT world unprepared and thinking I won't retain the information enough to get my foot in the door and start having a better career for myself.
Glad they videos are helping! And yeah, I wouldn't worry so much about retaining information, more so getting a general understanding of a lot of things and keep practicing/learning new things. You could (probably) always transfer your credits! Haha. Thanks for watching, and best of luck with your career stuff. I have a bunch of vids that will probably help with resume and job hunting :)
How inspirational! I have been considering WGU. My goal is to teach the English language in Thailand and then Japan! I'm currently doing my TEFL classes. Once the certification is done, I know where I plan to get my BA in Elementary Education!
@@RealCopsReelLife oh, I definitely intend to travel anyway! I am tired of working at mundane jobs and doing nothing with my life. I am 32 years old, I want to travel for sure! Heck, teaching online will mean bringing it with me anyway
This was very inspiring and encouraging to pursue a degree program. This is the 3rd video I’ve now watched from your channel and shared to others I am currently guiding in the I.T. space. I will be personally looking into this for myself to help boost my resume which is mostly filled with hands-on skills and few theoretical based learning.
Hey! Glad you found the videos useful and I appreciate you sharing them with, definitely helps me out! Gl if you decide to dive into wgu, it has definitely helped me "check that box" on my resume. I also learned a decent amount too 👏
Thank you for this information. By trade I'm a LVN since 1997 and knew the first yr it was not my calling except when I decided to get certified in wound care Loved it. The Money is great but the time to do 100% patient care was horrible and impossible. It's all about paper work/software documentation being completed. 2018 I completed an Associates in Biblical Studies but I keep feeling a burden that there's more I need to do. I've had a heavy push to pursue A Bachelor's degree. This video is encouraging. 🙏🏽
Man!! Someone buy this guy a beer coz..... I’m staying in Feb and have been stressing about how long it’ll take me to finish my undergrad and possibly a masters. I decided to go into business for myself and I feel the need to have an MBA in order to be marketable to my clients. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
You are God sent. I was thinking about how I could get a bachelor and master in less than 2 years and your video makes me feel more confident in my ability to do so.
i really like the concept of this university but unfortunately they don’t accept students who are not residents in the US , anyone of you guys know an online university that accepts international students
I’m 24, I got my degree in civil Engineering, at 21 yo, I want a career change (becoming a nutritionist/dietitian). The idea of starting another 4-5 year degree sounds impossible as I’m currently dealing with burn out. The possibility of getting a degree in 6 months sounds great.
Wow I wish I knew this 2 years ago...I just found out about this school after spending two years getting my AA at a local college. Oh well I guess my BA will be quick lol
Haha, I feel you! But yeah, on the bright side, if you already have an AA, it will definitely help speed up the completion process :p. Maybe you can known it out in 1 term :)
@frostyy I’m 28 and didn’t have a chance to attend college after high school, and I’m now decided to go to college and was thinking of going to a community college for my AA , as I’m researching I bumped into this video and I think I might consider that. @josh my question is can I attend this school to complete a bs without no college credit ?
Thanks so much for this video, I've applied and am going to try this method. I've only done 1 semester of university but I really dislike being on someone else's schedule especially when I'm completing certs on my own. Really helps with my road map now!
Couple of questions if someone can help I'd really appreciate it! 1. Are there any other assignments for the classes or just the course evaluation? 2. Are you able to contact a professor or other professional about the class or only your mentor? 3. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take at one time? 4. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take in a semester? 5. What happens if you fail a course assement? How soon are you aloud to redo it and is there a limited number of times?
You've asked some great questions! I'll answer in-line below: 1. Are there any other assignments for the classes or just the course evaluation? > Only the Final Exam / Final Essay(s), or a combination of both. No homework 2. Are you able to contact a professor or other professional about the class or only your mentor? > Each class has an instructor assigned to it, and you can hit them up as much as you want. Typically if you fail an essay, you'll be required to meet with the professor to go over your work before submitting it again. I failed most of my essays in my MS because I was rushing hardcore, and I had to meet with the professor every time lol 3. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take at one time? > When you start, you'll be enrolled in 3 classes initially. After you pass those, you can add more classes of your choosing (or let the mentor pick). 4. Is there a limit to how many classes you can take in a semester? > Nope! Which is why WGU is really good. You should watch my video "Is WGU Legit?", it dives into this quite a bit. 5. What happens if you fail a course assement? How soon are you aloud to redo it and is there a limited number of times? > IF you fail once, I believe you can take it again relatively soon. I believe the time period between attempts goes up, the more you fail the same class. I know for the exams, you have to start paying (~$60 maybe?) per attempt because you are being proctored and WGU has to pay for the proctor. If you get time, check out their retake policies: academy.wgu.edu/help-center/academics/retakes
Thank you! Really appreciate your video and responses! I'm getting very enthusiastic about WGU! I'd studied Electrical Engineering for 3 years at a state university but had to leave to take care of my grandfather. I just finished an associates in applied programming at a community College but im finding that a lot of jobs turn me down citing my lack of bachelors degree. So this is an extremely exciting thing for me to see!
@@haleystamper8489 I was already deep in my IT career before I even started attending WGU so it's not really fair for me to say. @@haleystamper8489 No problem! Sounds like you already studied all the hard stuff and got that out of the way. Are you going to knock out the BS in CS then?
I got my BSIT in 18 months and my MSIT in 9 months from WGU. The only way I could have done it any faster is if I was single and jobless. Regardless, I am happy I completed both and would recommend WGU to anyone interested in online college.
Going for the BS ITM and glad to hear someone with a more reasonable sounding timeframe's experience. Right now I'm filling my plate with Sophia transfer credits as much as possible before applying
Would you leave out the dates on your resume that you took to complete the BS degree? I’m used to putting the dates that I was enrolled in school on my resume, but I feel like 6 months for a BS degree would look fishy to an employer
Hey Salt! I do leave out the dats, or I just put the date that I received the degree. This has never been a problem for me and nobody asks about it. Great question though! Thank you very much for sharing these tips. I’m attending the Masters in Cybersecurity this July and I’m kind of nervous. Just sent them my CompTia CYSA + and hopefully the cert will be honored by WGU…
Hey! No problem, thanks for watching and commenting! Don't be nervous about the MSCyber, you passed CySA which is pretty hard I hear. If you can study up for that, you can get through this! It just might take slightly longer than CySA, haha :>
Bro awesome stuff I'm even more excited to get my bachelor's and that Masters degree if you could get it in 12 days. I'm finally bored after 2 years of IT support and don't feel sys admin is for me I've learned so much and I'm grateful for that but I can't see myself like others I've seen just stuck in Tier 2 support stuff for years and years. I'm hungry to move into some tough stuff. Finally going back to school since WGUs prices are a god send and their learning format is perfect as I got a full time job can't afford to be having to sit through classes. Give me some study material and feedback and I'll go get whatever I need.
Haha, the 12 days is a bit on the extreme, a lot of stuff lined up really well for me, but it's possible to finish quick! Good for you with your desire to move up. Take advantage of that motivation haha. GL
I will see ALL VIDEO tomorrow! I am struggling to finish my degree in a couple of years due to job commitments, however, with current situation of the pandemic I don't travel a lot, so it would be goo time to take this chance!
As a European, it genuinely shocks me how expensive it is to go to University in the US.... In my Country, we pay a max. of 400 Euros for every Semester that we are in University and those are the more expensive Universities here. I cannot even imagine paying more than a Thousand just for a Bachelor's degree :(
Thanks for the insight. Question for you, when looking to promote or get through HR for a degree requirement, will this degree be sufficient and will hiring managers consider it? Thanks again.
Lol really? Thank you! This was actually the second "actual" video I made on this channel. I took SO many takes making this Lol. Just a lot of edit, but I think I'm getting a little bit better. Thanks for watching :)
I'm loving the idea of getting a degree so quickly. I have 2 teenagers and I'm thinking of encouraging this opposed to the traditional route (With more research of course)
Hey Tiffany! Yes, sounds good! the only drawback is missing out on the social aspects of college, but if they wanna just graduate fast and save money, it's a decent option :)
It’s a magnanimous video with great content. But I got recommendations to Stray in a conversation with my mom about him, how he makes legit bachelor’s degree too 🙄, and I needed one so I had to give it a try and that’s how I got my bachelor’s degree.

Thanks so much for the kind words and feedback! Back when I did the IT degree, I just did the base "BS in Information Technology". The kinda vanilla one without a specialization. Since then I finished the BS in CompSci, but that's a totally other thing. Hope this helps!
I got my bachelors in IT from WGU and I loved the experience. I was looking into a masters program and I was looking for the degrees with the quickest completion time ( with the least amount of certs). Do you know if the masters program you finished changed any of their material? Great videos + glad I subbed!
Hey, thanks for watching! I did the cyber masters. I know now that they accept the CISSP to satisfy some class(es), but other than that, I don't think it has changed any. The least troublesome one is probably the MBA or an y business one that lacks certs :p
Hello, I’m glad to see you have took advantage of this opportunity, I just found this and I’m so excited to begin!! I have a question though.. have you tried adding your degree to a resume yet? How does employers look at this fast tracked degree? Thanks and congrats again

Don't try to rush in one term. Even if you take 3 terms that is still considerably faster than most universities and roughly only 12,900$ You don't want to stress about school. Make it fun and enjoyable. One term is nice and only having to pay about 4300$ is great but still, relax.
