If you live with a cat and dog who don't get along
your life can be quite a nightmare
but dogs and cats don't have to be sworn enemies
here's 5 simple steps to get a dog and a cat to get along

keep the dog and cat in separate rooms with the door closed
they know the other one is there
they can smell and hear them
feed both behind the closed door

open the door for very short times for mutual feeding
the idea is that the dog and cat only see each other from afar and when eating
thus associating the other with getting food

keep the cat and dog in opposite corners of the same room
and have them separated by a large fence
the idea is still having the dog and cat see each other
but only from afar
this way they can grow to know each other and learn to remain calm
keep applying mutual feeding times
do not rush this phase
keep the dog and cat separated
until they're both calm with the other's presence
instead of meeting up too close too soon and fighting each other

very gradually move the fence closer and let the dog and cat get closer and closer
but only as long as they remain calm
otherwise increase the distance and even go back to a previous step if needed

only if the cat and dog are completly calm with the other's presence
you can now remove the fence
but still
never leave them un-supervised
if you need to leave the dog and cat un-attended
keep them in separate rooms
only after some time
when you've made sure the dog and cat get along perfectly
can you leave them alone with each other
unsupervised
remember it only takes one fight in order to learn that the other is a threat
and to ensue further fighting in the future
your entire mission envolves reaching complete avoidance of any fights what so ever
only that way the dog and cat can learn that the other is no threat at all, rather, a friend
